Happened upon this place while they were having fundraiser for suicide prevention. Special cause, and food and drinks were delicious

Belfast is lacking in Spanish restaurants and this is probably the only one that stands out. Based in the cathedral quarter opposite the Merchant Hotel it is in a lively location. Theres a cute outside seating area to watch the world go by whilst pretending your on holidays. Staff are super friendly. Theres a large range of tapas and paella on the menu. For me the tapas were average. Having eaten authentic tapas in Barcelona my standards are perhaps just too high but none of the tapas here really stood out. The best one I tried would have been the prawns which were nicely seasoned. It was slightly off putting when I dined here as there was a large blue bin beside the outdoor seating area which had attracted a seagull. Said seagull began devouring an unfortunate dead pigeon on the ground in front of us. Obviously this is not the restaurants fault but it may be a good idea to move the bin behind the restaurant or lift dead carcasses nearby to prevent the unpleasantness in future.

Set in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter 2 Taps offers something Belfast doesn't have an abundance of, genuine Spanish cuisine. 2 Taps best feature is arguably it's large outside dining area, which is fully covered and equipped with heaters. This area offers alfresco dining regardless of Belfast's changeable weather. We were in the Cathedral Quarter in Saturday evening and decided to give 2 Taps a go - we didn't book a table but gambled that they'd be able to squeeze a table for 2 in at short notice. Sure enough they had a lovely wee table for 2 available between the bar and the main seated area. As it was shirt notice we were just glad to get the table. One thing we immediately noticed was that there were lots of staff working - always a good sign, especially on peak nights. The décor inside was a little dated, the Mediterranean theme didn't really flow through the whole interior and this made the whole place sort of feel cobbled together - there was nothing terrible but it just felt like it needed a face lift in places. Moving swiftly on to the food and drinks - our main focus initially was the cocktail menu and we went for a French Martini (a pink and girly choice) and a dark and story (a manly mans choice) - these were made to perfection. For food we went for 2 tapas dishes that acted as starters and a shared paella. The tapas dishes of choice were steak, peppered sauce and rice and Giant King prawns in a buttery sauce - these were also cooked to perfection and served as a perfect precursor to the main course. The main of paella was beautiful and the portions were extremely generous. I can't quite remember it's name as I was about 5 drinks in at this point but it had mussels, king prawns and chorizo with a spicy kick. For 2 of us half paella was enough. Overall 2 Taps was an excellent Saturday night dinner destination and the only thing letting it down is the décor - all the other elements are there!

Very nice selection of tapas at reasonable prices. Lots of traditional style tapas such as patatas bravas; chorizo in red wine; tiger prawns in garlic & chilli. I tried all of these in addition to a mini Spanish omelette and a super tasty filo pasty with sweet potato, caramelised onion & goats cheese filling - amazing veggie option! They do a good selection of beers, wines and sangria. I was happy to see they had Estrella, perfect accompaniment to the tapas. They have a nice little outdoor dining area (with heaters if required) and the traditional Spanish music playing in the background really makes the full experience - really felt like I was back on holiday in Barcelona. The only one small negative I would note is the service was quite slow, but it wouldn't stop me returning for the great food

Smoking area, good for people watching.

I'll start with an admission- I'm not a big fan of tapas. When I go out for food I like a big plate of food, none of this small plate sharing mularky, but the other half likes it, so here we go. The staff are lovely, the menu extensive, it has ok decor. We are there as we are going drinking in the area, and 2Taps is handy. I order the Espárragos con Parmesano and Patatas Asadas con Romero (basically some roast spuds) and the other half orders Patatas Bravas and chorizo. I felt the portions were a bit skimpy for the price, and it wasn't really awesomely cooked, but as a light feed before the pub it is fine. I suppose in conclusion I'd say if you don't have super high expectations and just need a sit down and some fuel in the Cathedral Quarter it'll suit your needs nicely.

Yummy mango sorbet!

We found this place during our mission to find dinner our last night in Belfast. 2 Taps Winebar was definitely busy on a Saturday night; but we only had to wait 10 minutes, which was nice. Our waitress was attentive and so courteous. For dinner, we ordered tapas: patatas bravas, stuffed peppers, and flat bread with hummus, olive tapenade, and sundried tomato tapenade - all delicious. They had a lot of vegetarian options but not many vegan options, which is typical here in Belfast. Overall, this was a great choice we found and would recommend just because of the fun atmosphere and good tapas.

This is another regular spot I visit - I simply love it. Amazing tapas, great wine and delicious jugs of sangria. I adore sitting outside 2Taps in the summer - and also in the winter, as they have really great outdoor heaters - always feel like I'm on a holiday when I'm here! Lovely relaxed atmosphere and delightful staff. Perfect place for a relaxing, lazy lunch or dinner.

Tapas is a relatively new thing for me. I am a little bit annoyed I have been missing it for so long. It is a great way to have a meal with a few friends, where everyone can just pick and choose what they want to eat. 2taps is a brilliant place to go if you enjoy good Spanish cuisine, and unfortunately there are not many other places to go in Belfast if you do. I cannot really say that I have a favourite tapas dish from 2taps, because there are so many, but I would have to say it is probably the classic meatballs in tomato sauce, not particularly Spanish I admit, but still an amazing dish. I have seen some massive plates of paella in this place too, which might be a bit of fun to order on a night out.

As someone who loves nothing more than to pick at and try lots of different dishes (costly in an indian!) I adore Tapas! I love the social aspect that comes with this type of dining at at only around £4 a dish it doesn't break the bank here either! 2Taps is a really nice restaurant smack bang in the middle of the cathedral quarter and opposite the merchant hotel. It offers a huge variety of Tapas and a really nice place to eat it in! I always love some wine with mine and the wine list is really good and reasonably priced. 2Taps is a great place to go to with a group of friends as the more people the more stuff there is up for sharing! I love the easygoing atmosphere and the staff are really great! My favourite dishes are the patata bravas and the sea bass is really great too!

Great meal. Great service! Kerrington was so informative & helpful. The point neuf & churros were our favorites.

At this point we did consider doing the smart thing and going home to bed, but instead we ordered more tapas and carried on.

I figured the procedure was to walk and wait. It turned out we had to see ourselves because there was no one about. Then while we sat at a table, some lady came over and asked us are we here for food... No, Madame, we are here to speak to the President. Have you got his number? Turned out she hadn't. We then were given menus and after much deliberation, we decided to order some paella Valencia. And so we waited to order. And waited some more. And because we waited nearly ten minutes while people were chatting, we got up and left. Cannot comment on the food because we didn't quite get that far. But the staff are horrendous and I will not go back purely because of them.

What is going on with these other reviews?? My experience of La Tasca seems to be totally…read moredifferent. The first thing worth noting is that, yes, it is expensive if you pay full price, but they ALWAYS (and that's not an exaggeration) have an offer on. Usually it's 50% off your bill, but sometimes it's tapas for two for £10, which in my book makes it really reasonable! I also love the sangria and the service has always been great when I've been in. The last time was particularly good. The waiter serving us (a party of 7) was really attentive and always made sure we had enough drink, which is really all I need...
