She has a thoughtful and structured process that helped me uncover my personal values, motivators and many other insights. These are the kinds of things that are usually 'hiding in plain sight' and difficult for most of us to see on our own. Before working with Isabelle, I had been in the same industry for over 30 years and had mostly enjoyed it but the need for a change confronted me rather abruptly. I had zero plan for what I might do next and felt quite a bit of anxiety and trepidation. After working with Isabelle for several months, I gained a clear picture of what would and would not be a good fit for me, work-wise. Importantly, before starting with Isabelle, myself and those around me had lots of ideas for next moves that seemed like 'naturals.' But it quickly became clear that most of these ideas would have been a dead-end for me in terms of enjoyment and fulfilment. For me, having the ability to move forward in life with a vision and with confidence has been priceless. The bottom line: life is short and if you don't want to squander part of yours by going down a suboptimal path, I really recommend putting in the work with Isabelle. It is definitely worth it!

Always changing external factors, never any internal ones. Eventually, I came to realize that something was actually wrong with me and my career path, but I could not quite nail it. Was I the problem? Was it my job? Or both? If so, what should I do? How? Wasn't it too late already? I was totally aware there was "a problem", but no way to solve it without understanding what the problem actually was. I was totally lost and dangerously burning out, struggling with growing anxiety crisis and insomnias. I met Isabelle at one of her General Assembly workshops in SF in late 2019. I immediately liked her approach and fully related to her own story of a bold career change. I loved the fact that she walked the talk, learnt from it, studied hard and developed her own methodology, a perfect mix of academic psychology tools and meditative approach. Also, I clearly felt she deeply cares, she is passionate, she genuinely wants to help others suffering, stuck in the same situation as she once was. And she absolutely proved it at every step of our coaching journey. She is not in for the money; she is in to help people find the strength to change. Not to change who you are, but to change your career path. To unlearn who you believed you were because of decades of social pressure, family pressure, ego, toxic indicators of success etc. To re-assess who you really are: your unique personality, your strengths, your qualities, your true values, your true passions and interests, what you really need and what you should absolutely avoid. Without Isabelle's support, I would have probably been stuck forever in the same vicious cycle. Thanks to her support, I am now 100% clear on who I really am and what I should do next to live a fulfilled professional and personal life. And I can't thank her enough for that!

After a year off, I was ready to get back into the job market and see what my next opportunity would hold. After a few exploratory emails, meetings, and formal interviews, I quickly realized I had no idea how to approach one of the most fundamental aspects of job hunting: the offer process. I pride myself on having an excellent resume and interview skills but when it came to negotiations and valuing myself, I was woefully unprepared and, to be honest, scared. I wasn't feeling better after some initial google searches on offer negotiations and while discussing with a friend who was in a similar scenario, Laura's name came up as someone I should reach out to. Let me be very clear here: it was the absolute best decision I have made for myself and my career in recent memory. Laura listened to my concerns, reviewed my resume, helped me to identify where my strengths lined up with market needs, dispelled some of the myths and anxieties surrounding the offer process, and helped me to see the value I brought to the company I was interviewing with. She made herself available to review correspondence, frame discussions around potentially difficult topics (like compensation and benefits) in a way that was both true to myself and made clear how my value informed negotiations for compensation. After an initially low offer, Laura helped me to counter with a higher ask that was both fair and well-justified (through market research and her past experience). I was able to secure a markedly higher offer for a job I was excited about. I can't think of a better outcome; an outcome that simply would not have happened without Laura's expertise.

I'm writing this review because 6 months ago, I didn't ever think I would do something like work…read morewith a coach. I was in pain though -- I was struggling with a months-long job search that hadn't created any results, and growing anxiety about my career. I'm normally a frugal person and I was hesitant to hire a coach, but I am so grateful I did. I have a better job now, a higher salary (just the raise pays for the coaching plus more!), and most importantly, a clearer picture of what I want out of my career. Since every coach is different, here's what Laura did with me. When I first started with her in January, she assessed what I was struggling with - trying to figure out my next step. We did weekly check-ins for typically an hour. Laura is empathetic and has a knack for synthesizing communicated information into succinct points. For example, one of her exercises involved asking what I was looking for in my next role. After talking for close to an hour, she summarized my brain dump into a list of 20 items that she heard were important to me, such as advocating for something that I care about, working in casual work environment, working in a collaborative/non-competitive team, and being encouraged to have work-life boundaries. My homework was to rank each of these as "must have," "very important," or "nice to have." After refining the list, my top four were flexibility, culture, great manager/team, and growth potential (both for experience and salary). Second, we refined my job search criteria. I sent her job descriptions of jobs I was applying to and different versions of my resume. I have a friend that works at Facebook who directly referred me to a position a while back, and I didn't even get an interview. After Laura reviewed my resume, she was honest about why I didn't get an interview. My resume was not focused or related to the job description. She described my original resume as saying, "I am an analyst but I don't know if that's who I am." She helped me edit my resume to say, "I am an analyst and I'm an awesome hire." We also cut down on the wide array of jobs I was considering (at the time I was looking at a lot of things, from marketing to finance to communications to program management). We narrowed it down to focusing on an analyst resume and a government (program manager) resume. Third, Laura helped me to customize cover letters. I had no idea that researching different company's missions and what they were working on was part of the job search. I learned how to research effectively and apply key points to my cover letter. Each job application I worked on took longer as it focused on quality. I started to apply for companies that I really wanted to work with and also network with friends, colleagues, and coworkers. The networking included researching aspects of their companies. It was through this quality networking I was able to land my current role! Finally, once my resume was in shape and I nailed how to write a tailored cover letter, we worked on getting interviews. There was a lull for a couple of months but then I started getting a bunch. With each interview, I had the opportunity to get better after practicing. Laura helped me to rehearse for the interviews. She also reviewed two documents she suggested I create: 1) Answers to common interview questions 2) Excel chart of last four jobs, descriptions of the jobs, challenges, and other details. In the end, I had the opportunity to choose between two offers! In the end, job hunting is never easy and having a coach isn't an instant fix. But after starting my new job, I only regret that I didn't sign up with a coach earlier. If you're in pain at your job and it's been a while since you last job hunted, hire someone to help. Asking friends what to do or googling things online does not build your skills the way a professional coach will. If you decide to shop around, look for someone that has done a lot of coaching before. It's not a regulated industry, so make sure the coach you hire actually has all the experience they say they do. Good luck!
