Because when inflation is high and when many places close earlier and earlier in the night post pandemic. Your options for filling your tummy with food becomes more limited during the late night hours on the weekdays and weekends. The savor and the brilliance of the dollar slice is that yes, you aren't getting the best pizza slice perhaps. No amount of toppings can help that (toppings cost extra at your own discretion). But for a good sauce, cheese and bread ratio that will tide you over until the morning or early afternoon, this really can't be beaten as an option.
