The crust still had the perfect ratio of dough making it fluffy, thin, and not crunchy. The white pie with the truffled ricotta and roasted mushrooms is a must try if you love anything truffle. It was loaded with flavors of garlic, mushrooms and the perfect amount of truffle. I'm so glad I ordered this pie! This will definitely be a spot we will visit again in the summer time. I stopped by with my mom for lunch when I was in town visiting and absolutely loved everything about the food here! The service was great, seating was easy and wasn't too busy for a Saturday. Our favorite pizza spot to visit when in Greenport. So thin and crispy with a delicious red sauce. Highly highly recommend! I previously posted this review on Google and the owner responded, acting like a child. So, I'll post it here too. The two ten year olds working at the hostess station were incredibly rude. There were open tables for over an hour but we still waited for no reason. I am not even surprised that the owner responded in such a condescending manner, what a great way to run a business! Clearly they know exactly what they are doing. This is just the icing on the cake that you shouldn't come here. 0 accountability for their horribly run business. For the record, we waited 90 minutes and the open tables remained vacant the whole time. If it were 10 minutes, we wouldn't be here posting this. Shame on you. read more

There is a lot of hype about 1943 and I waited till my second time visiting to write a review. I absolutely hate writing negative reviews, we put our name on an hour wait list at 7pm. We were finally seated after 9pm. It took 45 minutes to get 1 pie, salad and 4 meatballs. you only receive good service if you know someone here. 20 minutes after we were seated a party of 2 received all their food within 15 minutes of sitting down. Great place! Classic thin crust well made New York style pizza. The classic margarita was done very well, simple but perfectly balanced flavors. We got the white pizza + caramelized onions which added a nice touch of sweetness. The best of this place was the service - one of our parties had lost their voice and the server went out of their way to accommodate hot water and without asking brought honey and lemon on the side. The food here was delicious. We had to wait about 45 min for a table and it was worth the wait. We started with the burrata salad which I still have dreams about. It was slightly sweet to counterbalance the bitterness of the arugula and had fresh figs on top. The burrata was so creamy. We also got the clam bacon pizza which was amazing. Finding great pizza - really great pizza - outside of an urban center like NYC or Chicago is very rare. There is a place in Connecticut that serves White Clam Pizza which is delish! However that is an anomaly. 1943 Pizza Bar in Greenport has decent pizza. Not great pizza but enjoyable. The crust is thin and usually nicely charred. The red sauce is mediocre at best. The rest of the toppings are ok to good. There are some typical Italian American appetizers and mains to choose from too The service is what you would expect from a suburban pizza parlor with local kids running the joint. Sometimes good sometimes awful. I usually order take out because the ambience is dominated by large families with lots of bratty kids. There is some outside dining which can be pleasant on a pleasant day... as long as the kids are still in school! The price of the pies is decent. You get what you pay for. read more
