I've been to quite a few cigar lounges--and even worked at one--so I have a good sense of what makes a place stand out. Burn by Rocky Patel did just that on every level. The ambiance, décor, cigar selection, and service were all top-tier. It's a classy lounge with a twist of sports bar energy, which made it both elevated and fun. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day, and they had live entertainment--a violinist playing along to hip hop and R&B--which created such a unique vibe. Kayla, the bartender, let us know about the live entertainment the day before, it wasn't posted on their social media or website. She was attentive, sweet, and made excellent drinks. Evan, who was working the cigar side, was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and communicated well with customers even during a heavy flow. One thing that really stood out was the crowd--mixed ages, mature, and plenty of ladies confidently partaking in the beautiful art of cigars, which I loved seeing. Even if you don't smoke cigars, the vibes in this place are worth the visit. If and when I return to Pittsburgh, this place is a must. It's also within walking distance to the stadiums, which is a huge plus. Feedback for management: The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the disconnect between locations and social media postings. There was an event listed on the website that wasn't actually happening at this location, while an amazing event that was happening wasn't shared online; which would have been a shame to miss. It may be worth considering in-house social media and website management to ensure updates are accurate and timely to the specific location.

When we visited Pittsburgh, Blend was as not planned and we were not even aware of this place! We happened to stumble upon this place when searching for back up plans. We arrived earlier in the evening and there might have been 2 other people in the entire place, which was awesome. We grabbed a couple seats and settled in. Within a minute, we were greeted and provided with menus. Right after, the manager/ owner came over, introduced himself, and offered some suggestions. I'm glad he did because he suggested a rum for hubs and an Irish whiskey for me and we each loved our selections. The cigars we chose were really smooth as well. I wound up purchasing a special edition Davidoff cigar for my father and some for hubs and I. We left to visit other places and wound up returning later in the same evening. It was now packed so we wound up in the corner of the bar. We were starving and ordered food. The service was not as good as earlier in the evening but everything was still good. I wish there was a location in FL because we would definitely frequent it.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

I was checked in immediately and greeted by the host. They have valet parking for like $10, but there is free street parking (be warned it is on a hill). We got a 3 course meal for $45.26 each and added calamari as an appetizer. The calamari ($20) was actually very good -- it was soft and well seasoned, not rubbery or dry at all. It's tossed in sweet and spicy peppers and is lightly breaded w/ garlic butter. It was aromatic and quickly devoured by us. We also got bread for the table which has an assortment of soft rolls and hard flat breads. I got the Grinch Punch, which was a seasonal cocktail. Overall, a decent drink with their sugar rim and festive colors. 1st course: soup or salad I got the butternut squash soup which was very creamy and smooth. It was a good soup as a professional soup lover. It has butternut squash, pumpkin, onions, and garlic. I didn't quite taste the pumpkin, but it was seasoned and blended. I also was told that the wedding soup was very good, consisting of Italian meatballs, chicken, spinach, acini pasta, and homemade chicken broth. 2nd course: main entree I was honestly disappointed by its presentation. The steak looked fine (I guess like how a steak should), and it was medium rare like I asked. It's drenched in sauce and capers. But the sides were comically large and plated in an unorthodox manner. The green beans and whole carrot was not seasoned, not even some salt and pepper. It's literally an entire whole carrot that was skinned (not even the top was chopped off) and sliced in half. At least the carrot was soft, but it just looks comical. 3rd course: dessert Because they were 3 of us, we opted to get one of each to try them all: red velvet, burnt almond torte, and chocolate layer cake. The red velvet was CAKED in its buttercream frosting. The chocolate layer cake had mini chocolate chips on its outside layer for some crunch that I enjoyed. However, I think the best dessert had to be the burnt almond torte because it was light and not too sweet. It had a good mix of soft cream and flaky layers. The staff and service was good. Food came in a timely manner. However, I don't think I would return to this restaurant or pick this again during Restaurant Week (given the numerous restaurants with coursed meals and offers during that week).

It was still decorated for Christmas complete with a Christmas drink menu on the table. It is mid-January. The meal was a major disappointment. Half of the entrees served in our group of 8 was unfortunately cold and lacked any discernible seasoning. The salad was completely overwhelmed, swimming in a pool of dressing. Most frustrating was the dessert; after being presented with an attractive dessert tray, the actual cake served was stale and tasted like cardboard. The desserts are promoted as being made in-house. The disappointment was mutual for everyone in our party of 8. When someone in the party mentioned the quality of the cake to the server, he started arguing with them! For a restaurant with such an elegant reputation, the quality of the food is simply not up to standard. While the views have remained the same over the years, the quality of the food was very disappointing. There are much better choices if you want to enjoy the view AND your meal.

I ordered a fish sandwich and asked if I could have a pickle on it. They charged me $.75 for five slices of a pickle. I'm talking small, round slices of a pickle. I suggested to the server that that was ridiculous and she said that a different person had put that on the bill, but she made no attempt to have it removed. Apparently, they charge everybody for a pickle. Because I wanted to speak with the manager about it, I phoned the restaurant the next day. No one answers the phone, but you do get a recording that says to leave your name and number and they will call you back. Of course they don't. It may not be a big deal to some people, but I order fish sandwiches everywhere in the North Hills and I have yet to be charged for a pickle. I think it's wrong! But apparently they don't mind losing customers over that charge.

Our cocktails were subdued but very tasty. First we were served a pea soup shooter--we all wanted a whole bowl. Then a couple of appetizers--the 'compressed pineapple' with frisse was interesting with a flavorful dressing, but not too sweet. I got the special, seared tuna with a shrimp over udon noodles and a Hoisin sauce with some sort of wasabi. Again, the flavors were unique but not overpowering. Also got the chicken with couscous and peas. Sounds plain but it was anything but plain. The other mains were just as good. We finished off with three desserts. The carrot cake got rave reviews from my dining partners (not my style). The Creme Brulle was very large and perfectly cooked. But the best dessert was the deconstructed Smore. The chocolate, the merengue, the graham crumbs, a little ice cream. Oh, I'm going to be dreaming of this dessert for a long time! The price is also quite high for pittsburgh standards--over 100/person--but well worth it for a special occasion!

The strawberry margarita was very sweet and had lots of berry flavor. It wasn't my fav but I tend to like less sweet margs. We ordered the shrimp and the chicken lunch tacos that came with two tacos and beans and rice. The chicken tacos were super good and served on soft flour tortillas. The shrimp came on lightly fried corn tortillas that were a little chewy and didn't have much shrimp at all. The star of the lunch was the cup of Chicken Tortilla soup. They serve you a bowl with deep fried tortilla strips and a red sauce packed with flavor and pour the homemade chicken bone broth over the strips table-side. The soup was absolutely delicious. When she brought the check, she just presented us with a total on her handheld POS device and not a paper check to review. It was sort of strange.
