We came in for lunch during on a Friday. We were seated immediately and quickly had chips, salsa and waters for the table. Salsa was good with just a bit of a kick to it but not spicy. Once we ordered our entrees they were delivered quickly and everything was delicious! No one talked so we could savor the food! Large open dining area with colorful and fun decor inside. They have a large patio area as well but unfortunately was a bit too chilly the day we were there. They do have a full bar and large menu to pick from! The food was very very bland, we both ordered the arroz con pollo, expecting grilled chicken smothered in queso instead we got boiled shredded chicken that was tasteless and felt like i was eating canned tuna. The rice had no flavor sadly and then the melted cheese was just very weird. The refried beans and black beans tasted straight out of a can. Felt like they were allergic to seasonings. Besides the salsa, which was very flavorful. Our server was kind. The manager seemed like she hated her job, she came over and didn't say a word till i explained that we each took one bite and wasn't going to eat anymore and she seemed very defensive but still was nice enough to remove it from the check, still had to pay for the peppers and onions he added onto his meal but that was fine. Came on a Saturday around 5 pm and were immediately seated at a table for 2. Music was loud but we were still able to carry on a conversation. Plenty of seating inside and outside on their patio. Ordered 2 chicken tortas with fries. It did take a while for the chips and salsa to be brought to our table but no biggie. The torta was delicious and the fries were nice and crisp and thankfully not soggy. Overall the whole ambiance was great. Our server was very efficient and friendly. I don't know if I will be returning. The service was not good, despite being basically the only people in there. I asked for salsa 3 times and the waitress said she would get it and never did. We had to ask for things multiple times to get them. The food came out very quickly, which was great. The grilled quesadilla was yummy. I should have read the reviews and description of the ACP before ordering. I would not recommend this dish at all. I was expecting grilled chicken with seasoned rice and queso on top, which seems standard. It was bland with shredded chicken and shredded cheese that congealed quickly. The rice had big (boiled?) tomatoes in there for some reason too. I needed salsa to add flavor, but never got that. I ate it the next day at home with salsa and hot sauce - it was a bit better. An evening put into a lot of turmoil because we made a reservation for the Elizabeth Street location because the website still lists it as open and takes reservations. We arrived with a party of eight only to find out they shut down operations three weeks ago. As a restaurant you all need to do better in updating your website and reservation system. read more

My fave place for queso in Charlotte! The chicken chimichangas are also really yummy, and a deal for getting a combo (you can decide to get one, two, or three) and there's really only like a dollar difference between alll of them, so you might as well get two or three and have some leftovers for the next day! I've gotten the taco salad before too, and the tostada one, which were both good, but my go to is still the chimichangas! Service can sometimes be slow, even when you're the only person there, but it's because they get a lot of to go orders (which I feel like is how they survive), so just be patient. Service is always friendly though, and they're always happy to get you more chips and salsa as you wait for your food or get it to go for leftover queso. It's pretty quiet inside, although the music can sometimes be loud, but it's nice giving it a nice atmosphere! My only thing is that you get sooooo much more queso if you order it there, eat some, and then get a to go container for the rest. If you just get a to go order of queso, their container is like half the size so you get much less queso. Though the queso is very good - it's white queso and just very tasty. read more

Soup & Salad the 1900 Way! I cannot stop thinking about or eating the Sopa de Lima soup. Maria told her family grew up eating it whenever they were not feeling well. it is such a lite broth with tons of shredded chicken, rice, onions and some tomato. It has fresh lime slices floating in it and the citrus just makes the flavors brighter. I also ordered the "Wedge Salad" which was 1/2 a large head of lettuce. Highly recommend! We HAVE to talk about the guacamole, or should I say avocado salad. I'm a big fan of chunky guacamole but I tasted all the separate components and not a unified guacamole flavor. Went with a group of around 12 people. Service was kinda slow. We ordered guac which they advertise as made table side. That didn't happen. And the server asked us to taste it bcz she was allergic to lime. We told her it was OK but it was pretty salty. Which was not altogether bad since the steak in my carnitas tacos was pretty tasteless. They only have tequila, beer and wine so not much of a choice if you're like me and don't do tequila. At the end, the server went to each of us to ask what we had ordered so she could make individual checks for us all. Strange since it was the same person who took orders and brought our meals. Since moving closer to the location I have visited several times for dine in and take out and decided they deserved an update from my 2016 review. The overall restaurant and atmosphere of the location is great, love the outdoor seating, weather permitting. Although service and food can be inconsistent I think things have improved and will continue to visit. Two things I will point out. First, chips and salsa and good, not great. Second, Fajitas need to be served sizzling on a skillet. I think that is where they will not get a five star from me until they bring that back. Cooked in the kitchen and then plated definitely changes the experience, freshness and taste. They offered it years ago, however ever since they changed to plating, it hasn't been the same. Overall, they definitely deserved a star update in my mind, but would love to see more, especially with so many other Mexican restaurants delivering! read more

The Aesthetic: I've only ordered out from this spot, but it looks upscale from the outside. I want to eat in next time I go, the food is probably even better! The Price: It's pricey compared to other local Mexican restaurants in CLT, I would say it's closer to $$$ depending on what you order. The Parking: There is street parking all over the area, I've never had an issue here. I'd recommend parking on a side street, the parking has been free on the weekend days that I've come to this area. My Order: The Mole Poblano is incredible, I will come back solely for this dish. You can't go wrong with goat cheese stuffed chicken in the best mole sauce! The plantains are also buttery delicious. The only thing that fell short for me was the expensive, dry slice of Tres Leches. I may have gotten a bad piece. My best friend was getting married and wanted a place to host her rehearsal lunch with a party of 30. Maria the manager was so kind and so flexible. She allowed the food to be on one ticket and for everyone to pay for their alcohol beverages separately. She also offered that we could make a set menu from dishes on their lunch menu and even made it personalized by putting their names on the top. I mean how nice and cute is that! When we walked in, it was set up so nicely where we were all able to see one another. This place does not have a private room but it felt like we were in one. This restaurant is not huge but she made it feel like it was. We had three servers and it made ordering so much easier. We got queso, guacamole and corn as our appetizers. We went to visit our daughter this weekend and decided to go to 1900 Mexican Grill. Eddie our server was such a pleasant young man. He knew all the drinks special and recommended the food for my husband which was soooooo good. The restaurant ambience was very nice not to large and not to small... Eddie was funny and we really enjoy talking to him anything we asked for it was never a problem for him. When he cleared our table he toss the dessert out there boy the Mango Tres Leches wow.
