a menu on a table in a restaurant

The space has a nice ambiance, but the music was a bit loud and the layout was a bit scattered. Food looks pretty good, too bad I couldn't order any with the terrible service. Seriously just go downstairs and get chicken strips from Tuffy's Diner.

The salmon at 1887 Bistro. Price is Right and the flavor is on point!

Some pasta dishes, some pizzas, all happy. Out the door was right at $414.00 which is super reasonable for such a crowd. 10/10 will be back

First of all, I implore anyone wanting to go, make reservations during peak hours! We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

The toasted sourdough was a nice touch for sopping up bites. The fried okra was a standout--lightly battered, bright green inside, and not soggy (a minor miracle) The chicken tenders had a peppery cornmeal breading that stayed crunchy and paired well with the dipping sauce. But the most nostalgic part was the warm biscuit split open with peach jelly--sweet, sunny, and the perfect finish! Overall: Comfort food done well, generous portions, great textures, and totally worth the visit

As a foodie from the Bay Area who's been spending more time in the Southeast for work, I've been on…read morea bit of a personal mission to understand and appreciate Southern cuisine. It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.

This was one of my newly saved restaurants that me and my cousin share in our foodies chat on IG…read moreand the bartender confirmed today that's it's only been open for about a month or so. On a random Tuesday out of office, I decided to stop by and have a solo lunch date. Make sure to read the El Jefe Loco Taco Review at the bottom It's a pretty large contemporary looking space, and I decided to sit at the bar so that I was in close proximity to the bartender. There are two types of menus; one where you can build your own tacos or bowls, and the other that has an already curated menu. I was hungry so I took the lazy route. I ordered the El jefe Loco and the La Tierra. While waiting for my food to come out, I did get some chips and salsa and ordered the margarita flight with the passionfruit, mango, and pineapple flavors. For the rim, I was able to select a ginger, cayenne, and I forgot the last flavor. But it's pretty cool that you could select different flavor rims too. The La Tierra taco has a portobello mushroom and pan steak, which was pretty good. Now the El jefe Loco caught me off guard. I took a bite of that taco and began chewing. And they got the loco part right. I nearly lost my mind at the flavors. I couldn't eat that taco fast enough. I didn't want to waste any part of it. Every piece of meat, particles and juice that remained, I scooped up with the chips I had from my chips and dip. I don't know made the chef decide to put this flavorful, addictive concoction together, but this was easily the best taco that I've eaten all year and my taste buds were so happy about that decision. I've eaten a lot of tacos from a lot of different places. Unfortunately, I haven't reviewed all of them, but I REFUSE to pass up this review. So I will be returning, and this time I know better than to get just one of those. But I know I need to try the other tacos on the menu too.

The bartender explained the "Char-Grill" ordering concept where you check-off what you want. There's a fixed menu and a build your own taco menu. Complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered La Tierra and El Jefe Loco tacos from the fixed menu. Both tacos were soft and hard shells (double tortillas), it ended up being a mouth full as the toppings are loaded in as well. The flavors were awesome, the caramelized onions and cilantro-lime sauce elevated the steak. I wish the steak would have been cut smaller. El Jefe Taco was my favorite of the two, the chorizo, chicken, corn and honey chipotle bbq all paired together nicely. I also had the build your own margarita flight, tons of flavors and salt rim options. For flavors I had the lychee, passionfruit and blackberry. One had a hibiscus-salt rim and the other two had ginger-sugar. Ginger-sugar was my favorite! Super friendly staff, food came out quickly, fresh and hot. I'll be back for the build my own tacos next!
