Brunch is back and man was it delicious!! The made to order omelettes were top notch, the stuffed pork tenderloin was delicious and the best part was a deep fried donut with chocolate filling!!!! The fresh toppings for build your own salad were fresh and normally I hate croutons but theirs were absolutely amazing!!!! ALL the ingredients were top shelf and definitely can tell in the flavors. Brunch is from 11-2 on Sundays, highly recommend a reservation as I am sure they will be busy. They have a happy hour during the week from 4-6 with rotating food items and drink specials too. The best part besides the delicious food was the staff, highly attentive and friendly!!! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The beautiful bar when you enter really looks nice. Who knew you could find a phenomenal steakhouse in Lebanon, Indiana? This restaurant is exactly that. I stopped in for lunch and was served by Matthew, who was spot-on with his recommendations. When I asked for a cocktail suggestion, he recommended the Whiskey Dreams, and it did not disappoint. It was a well balanced cocktail featuring bourbon, elderflower, lavender, and orange curaçao. It was liquor forward with just the right touch of sweetness. For lunch, I ordered the steak sandwich with mashed potatoes. The sandwich was packed with flavor from the first bite. The bun was soft and buttery, the steak was juicy and tender, and the horseradish sauce tasted homemade. The cheese was perfectly melted, and it was served with fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion. If you're in Lebanon or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping here. Based on this meal, I'll definitely be back to try the prime rib. read more

I got to the restaurant early as I normally do. I asked if I could get seated early because it would be a little while before my friends arrived for our reservation. The staff was very accommodating and sat me at a perfect table by the window. Our waitress was so sweet. I asked her if she could make me a mocktail and she said she could put something together. She made me a lovely cranberry drink. When my friends arrived, I ordered off the devour menu which consisted of an appetizer, entree and dessert. The salmon dip was good. I wasn't crazy about my pasta. It was very salty. But my warm brownie dessert was definitely my favorite part. Overall lovely ambiance and service was great. The food was just okay. It's easy enough to make a reservation on their website however they weren't busy for a Monday night. We arrived a bit early and were seated promptly. There were a couple business meetings and a date. I brought my niece in because we wanted a good meal with a good steak while in town for a couple days. The service was great. I ordered a dirty goose and the spinach artichoke appetizer straight away. The drink was good and I was glad he knew what I was talking about without asking. The spinach dip was good and rich. Plenty to share, though I didn't care for the overcooked kettle chips served with it. The dip is salty enough, it doesn't need fried chips. I ordered the ribeye with loaded potato. Niece a butterflied filet. The potato was perfect. The ribeye was undercooked and tasteless. It's better that it's undercooked than overcooked in my book. Leftovers would be easier to heat. Niece liked her filet and wedge salad. I had to use a lot of salt on the meat and ate around the outside to get my fill. Then I realized that the dip was so salty, it probably skewed my taste. Therefore I recommend that you do not get the spinach artichoke dip if you want to enjoy your steak. Total bill was $180 including tip. Nicest spot in town. We thought that we would give this restaurant another chance to redeem itself, particulalrly considering that we live close by. And, once again, it was a miserable experience. We arrived for dinner and were told that the tables near the front windows with a terrific view of the Courthouse Square were not available because the area had already been cleaned in prep for closing. So, we found a table in the bar. Almost immediately, the pleasant convesation that I was having with my dinner companion was interupted by the loud complaints of the bartender to himself about one thing or another coupled with the needless banging of glasses and trays which clearly communicated to us that he did not appreciate our being there despite the fact that it was during hours that the restaurant was supposed to be open. Then, the arrival of what we ordered for dinner was delayed by what the waitress exlained was a problem in the kitchen. And, when our dinner finally arrived, the pasta we ordered was overcooked and soft and barely edible. We are done with this place. It tries to be a high end dining experience and advertises and prices its food as such. Trust me when I say that it does not come close to achieving this goal. You should avoid this place at al costs and head on over to Aspen Creek in Whitestown. You are welcome. read more

Had a party of 19 (reserved 3 days in advance) and walked into 4 booths. Our waitress was also the bartender for the entire restaurant. Needless to say, our service was bad and I do not blame the waitress, who I do blame is the manager on duty. For the price of this place it is not worth it if you have a party bigger than 6-8 people. The bad thing is that the manager decided to make excuses when my wife reached out to them afterwards. If us moving the tables was a fire code violation, why not tell us this that and we would have not moved them to engage with everyone in the party. read more

Arrived at an odd time, so there was only one other table seated in the restaurant...about 315 on a Wednesday. Lunch menu runs until 4 so my husband was able to get the lunch Caesar salad with blackened shrimp as well as a calamari appetizer. I had the burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, and onion strings, all of the food was very good! I also ordered a wedge salad, which the waiter forgot to ring in because he did not write down our order, but rather took it from memory. I do wish instead that servers would just write things down. Traveling from The Villages to Chicago, we stopped in Lebanon and found 1830 Chophouse--great choice! Located in a charming historic downtown about a mile off the interstate. I had the Cornish game hen with mashed potatoes, and my husband had the pork chop--both were delicious and beautifully presented. I'm being serious here, this place is the fanciest restaurant in Lebanon. They even have cloth napkins! I'm from here, and can't think of another place in town that has them. I think it is also the only place in town that I've ever made reservations at, and would recommend anyone else going to do the same. This was our second visit, and we were delighted to find that they had a Devour Indy menu. I meant to take a picture of the menu to post here, but forgot! We both ate for $55. If not for the Devour Menu, the restaurant is probably also one of the most expensive restaurants in town BUT you pay for fancy. That's a given, right? Anyway, the bread was complementary (I think); the sesame seed rolls were great. We both had the Caesar salad which I commented that it was one of the best ones I have had (top 5). My friend had the crab stuffed flounder and brussels as the entree. I had the flank steak topped with chimichurri which had just a little bit of kick, perfect for me! The meat was cooked perfectly. I always judge a meal on whether I would reorder it. In this case, yes! I also sampled my friend's food and would order that as well. I recommend making a reservation, if you plan on going, just in case it's busy. It is a great date night spot, but it is definitely the priciest food in Lebanon. With that being said, the food is AMAZING! I have enjoyed my meals both times that we've gone. Our first trip, I got a steak, which was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and the server made sure that it was done correctly. The second time I went, I had the blue crab stuffed roughy. Both were phenomenal. I am not a fan of the banana bourbon sweet potatoes. They are a little too pureed for my liking. The brussel sprouts are fantastic as are the garlic herb mashed potatoes. Both times I've been, I got so full on dinner, I didn't end up getting dessert. read more

We've enjoyed visiting this establishment a few times, but I often forget to share my thoughts. The service is consistently excellent, no matter how large the party is, which is a real highlight. The location on the Square in Lebanon is fantastic, with lovely views of the courthouse and seasonal decorations that add charm throughout the year. While the food is good, it would benefit from a bit more creativity or flair to make it truly memorable. It's certainly good enough to draw us back when we're in the area. Perhaps with a few standout dishes, it could elevate the dining experience even further. Enjoyed dinner on Saturday night. We had a 5pm reservation and it wasn't packed but became packed quickly. They have a nice trendy decor inside, was able to have a conversation without yelling. I needed help with elevating my leg and they accommodated me with an extra chair. Our waitress Emily was very helpful, she gave good recommendations and made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the short ribs and hubs got the Prime Rib. The short ribs were tasty but I didn't care for the Polenta it was on. I should've asked for mashed potatoes as I'm not a Polenta fan. Hubs liked the prime rib but thought it and the aujus were lacking flavor. He did like the horseradish that came with it. We also enjoyed the Stuffed Mushrooms and Wild Boar meatballs. Oh my gosh... the smell alone from the outside was enough to bring me in. It smelled SO good! I walked in and sat on the bar side. Our server was attentive and friendly. I ordered a cranberry spritzer, a side salad with ranch, and the goat cheese appetizer. My friend had the beef skewers and I will for sure be getting that next time. I wish they allowed half stars so I could award 3.5. It was clear that they were very short staffed. We waited 5-10 minutes at the hostess stand as the hostess was also bartendering and waiting tables. We were finally seated in the bar area which was fine but after waiting 20 minutes for a table and seeing all the empty tables, it was clear they were a bit behind. We ordered drinks and then dinner. My husband loved his walking on bourbon street drink. After about 15 minutes the waitress came out with bread and butter apologizing that she had forgot to bring it over earlier. They were quite good and warm. After we finished the bread the waitress came over saying our order had been lost somehow although she had placed it on her iPad. We reordered and then things looked up. My steak skewers were quite good as was the bourbon sweet potato mash although I personally would have appreciated a little texture in it( it was more baby food texture). We met my daughter here for her birthday on a Saturday at 1 o'clock. Place was completely empty when we walked in, so I was concerned a little bit, even though it had good reviews. When my daughter arrived, I told her I rented out the whole restaurant just for her birthday, and our waiter went along with it. the service was fantastic, the food was amazing and we had a wonderful time. Spinach artichoke dip was really good, we had it with crustini's and their homemade Parmesan potato chips. The chips are incredible. My other daughter had them with her California club as well. I was so looking forward to dining here, alas what a disappointment. The restaurant itself is beautiful and with ample street parking. A great location. Since the devour menu was $40, I expected something worthwhile, but I was mistaken here. I ordered a cocktail that promised a lavender float. Cool... I want that. After the waitress dropped the drink off, I looked at it and thought this didn't look right. Looked like the murky waters of an algae infested lake. I doublechecked the description to make sure I wasn't imagining things and even asked my guests if they saw any kind of lavender float on this cocktail. Nope... when the waitress stopped by to take our food order, I asked her, what kind of cocktail this was and where was the lavender float. I was told point blank, oh we are out of the lavender so the bartender put something blue in it. And with that she was gone. I was so taken by surprise that I didn't even know what to say. I should have just sent it back and stick to water. Here is my problem with this. If the main ingredient of a drink is unavailable, I would like to be asked if a substitution is acceptable and not just served whatever is handy... because what I got was neither visually nor tastewise appealing. The rolls were good, as was the butter that came with it. I had chosen the coconut shrimp for starters. There was a very tiny hint of coconut but it was overpowered by the chilisauce that was liberally spread across the dish. The chili sauce was tasty, so I was ok with it. I had the Korean beef skewers with silver noodles. Would have been nice to be asked how I would like my meat. This was served rare and I am sorry, I cannot eat this. Not only that, but there was quite a bit of sinews or grizzle in the meat. I was going to send it back, but I know better than that. Plus I was already over this whole affair. I took it home thinking maybe I can fry this up, but due to the poor quality of the meat just ended up throwing it away. I had chosen the bread pudding for dessert and while I realize that portions during the devour are usually less, but this was borderline ridiculous. Three tiny squares (less than an inch each, looks much bigger int he picture), but the plate was big. My guest however had ordered the New York cheesecake. She was given an Oreo cheesecake and the server again disappeared so fast she didn't get a chance to say anything. When we finally flagged our waitress down, she unapologetically said, well we're out of the New York cheesecake, so this will have to do. Excuse me? Again, do not make substitutions on the guest's behalf. How about checking with your customer first. My guest had more presence of mind than I did and refused to eat the Oreo cheesecake as she does not like Oreos. They tried to talk her into breadpudding, finally they started to offer her some of the other dessert they had on the menu as they should have. For $67 (just for my Devour dinner, a murky undetermined drink and an undeserved tip) I can have better food and much better service. read more

We have visited Kinnard & Drake's three times now. Once for the Mother's Day Sunday buffet, once for the Father's Day Sunday buffet, and once for a presentation dinner. I'll give you the run down on all three visits. The Sunday buffet for both Mother's Day and Father's Day was very similar. Both cost $35 and included such items as bacon, assorted pastries, salad fixings, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, a pasta dish, a meat dish, peel and eat shrimp, made to order omelets and a carving station. The items change out frequently.... even during the same day. The bring new (different) items out to replenish the empty dishes. The made to order omelets were very good with a lot of ingredient options. The lettuce for the salad was good quality. The meat dish was tough and almost impossible to eat. We did not care for the gravy.... it was made with ham rather than sausage. Both times we did the buffet, the carving station was ham. We wished it had been beef at least one of the times. So, a mixed review... some good items, some we did not care for.... but I guess it is all personal taste as well. Mother's Day appeared to catch them off guard. The line for the buffet was down a hall and out a door and around the building. We stood in line for the buffet for 20+ minutes before reaching the plates. When we got to the plates, a lot of the dishes were empty or near empty. The servers were great at bustling to replenish the food stock. They did an excellent job in this area but shouldn't have had to work so hard.... the containers holding items (particularly condiments such as salad dressing, cheese and egg for salads, cocktail sauce, dip for veggies were VERY small. They were the size we have at home for 2 people. With the crowd, they were empty in minutes, if not seconds. Father's Day, on the other hand, was an entirely different story. No wait at all for the buffet line. The serving dishes were still small but, once again, the servers kept the buffet replenished quickly. In summary, Mother's Day was an A+ for Effort but a D- for Execution. Father's Day was a solid B. For the presentation dinner, I got the steak skewers and my wife got the Mahi-Mahi. The steak skewers are a menu item and they were wonderful. They were served with mashed potatoes which were good as well. The Mahi-Mahi was served on top of a very good sauce. It needed the sauce because the fish was dry, overcooked a bit. Service for the dinner was good. The presenter had difficulty with the audio/visual equipment and the staff was prompt to respond and fix the issue. Overall, I'd give them a B, or 4 stars. Mother's Day is a bit of an unusual situation... they were overbooked and under prepared but it was a much larger crowd then the normal Sunday Buffet. We may return again, but not for the buffet. We will probably go just for dinner and eat off the menu. read more

We did not have a good experience dinning at Kinnard and Drake's. We had reservations for 6:45 and arrived about 5 minutes early. We weren't seated until 7:00. The manager / expeditor stopped by to see if we wanted a cocktail or appetizer but since we were just seated we hadn't looked over the menus yet. She brought us over waters indicating the server would be right over. We didn't see our server until 7:20. At this point, everyone knew what they wanted so we all ordered our meals and one person ordered a cocktail. The server said she would be right back with our basket of bread and butter. The cocktail was served at 7:35, 15 minutes after being ordered and tasted like it had been sitting. Our food, served at 7:55. Was the food worth the wait? Absolutely not; it was hot though. I had the Shrimp Po Boy with truffle potato wedges. The breading was not tempura or, if it was, it's not like what Slap Fish serves. Theirs is awesome. The truffle potato wedges were just salted and peppered. No truffle oil or parmesan cheese. My wife ordered the stuff chicken with garlic mash potatoes. She said the chicken was dry and tasted as though it was previously cooked and reheated. The garlic mash potatoes lacked the garlic. Someone in our group ordered the Mahi-Mahi sandwich and said it was meh. The hamburger was liked by the forth person in the group who said it tasted like ground up steak and was cooked to his liking but his potato wedges too lacked the same truffle oil and parmesan cheese as well. So, if you are going the sandwich route, get the burger! If you've made it this far, I will close the loop on the basket of bread and butter. No, we never got it. Shocker. Not a good night for us at Kinnard and Drake's. This will be a one and done for us. read more

Lebanon is definitely the type of town where dudes wear their baseball caps at the dinner table which is something my Italian grandma would find upsetting to say the least. Archaic opinions aside, I slept on making a Valentine's Day reservation for my wife, so we found ourselves dining in Lebanon, surrounded by men whose grandma never made them take off their hats at the dinner table. Outside of the hat deal, I just don't have any strong opinions about Kinnard and Drakes 1830 Chophouse. It's a beautiful little restaurant, I mean sure, there's a lot to look at on the walls, maps, photographs, lots of tiny text that I could read from our table, but I never once felt compelled to leave my wife's company to educate myself on the history of the area. And they have long rectangular plates for their burgers, which is something I find myself appreciating these days. It's like here's your burger and side, and look how it maximizes the space on this long rectangular plate, and aren't you enjoying all this table space the rectangular plate frees up? I think my wife and I were, maybe semi-disappointed with our appetizer, the 1830 White Poutine. It wasn't bad or anything, but outside of the velouté sauce it was basically a pretty standard diner-style, upgrade your fries with bacon, cheddar, and scallions appetizer. Good, but not what we were expecting. My burger was awesome, it had a really delicious sear, and was cooked perfectly, and my side of mashed sweet potatoes, also really good. I couldn't quite tell what spice was in it, maybe it was maple syrup, maybe nutmeg or allspice, who knows. My wife ordered, I believe it was the Scottish Salmon, which had some citrus things going on, some greens, some fries, and there were no leftovers so I think it's fair to say we enjoyed our meal. Listen, this is a reasonably priced chop house, sort of nicer (maybe new-ish) American style restaurant in Lebanon. For what it is and where it is, I think a 4-star review is pretty fair. The staff is really nice and attentive, the food was good and reasonably priced. I wouldn't necessarily drive out of my way to eat here as there are a bunch of similar restaurants scattered throughout the area, but if you're in Lebanon it's good. read more

Bring your earplugs because it is loud AF. Our first time here was a mixed bag. We had a young server who lacked familiarity with the menu, forgot to ring up the dessert we ordered to go. When I reminded her of it, she at least gave it to us complimentary rather than running our credit card a second time. Drinks from the bar took a LONG time to come out. The filet skewers were ordered at medium temp and were served rare. When we finally had a chance to notify the server (because she took so long to check on our table) she could not have cared less. At least the flavor was good. As was the cherry almond rice pilaf. Shrimp po boy was fine. Would not call that tempura batter. It was heavy and greasy and not at all light and fluffy. Garlic mash potatoes had no hint of garlic and were served Luke warm. We loved the everything rolls served with room temp butter. And the house salad w orange poppyseed was really tasty too. Visual ambiance is great and they have a nice outdoor seating area, too cold today. Looks like it doubled the seating capacity of the restaurant so I do wonder whether the kitchen can keep up. The food we had was delicious and satisfying. I was bummed that the prime rib was already sold out within 2 hours of opening so I'll have to try harder next time to get a taste. The steak skewers were cooked perfectly and tasty. The stuffed chicken my husband said was tasty but he wouldn't have minded a bit more texture such as fried batter. The banana split cheese cake was creamy but perhaps a bit too many flavor profiles all at once. I think leaving off the chocolate would've been just right. And of course i wanted the bread pudding and i approve! I really wanted to try the creme brulee but i was stuffed. When we return i should be able to explore their alcoholic offerings from the bar side of the venue but just seeing the drinks that were brought out to the other diners gave me a favorable impression. I decided to give this a go since we are so close now; about like another review I saw...is it amazing? No. Is it really good? Yes, food was good, definitely on the salty side but did have good flavor. Another oddity is the fact that our side dishes came out 5-7 minutes earlier than everything else. They were delicious but I didn't necessarily enjoy that. The ambiance is a bit cold, which I was hoping for more small town cozy. I will definitely be back, many more times. Great place to gather with friends and family. The food was good and friendly servers. Be prepared to spend $$$.

Very clean love the lighting. They messed up our steak but the manager fixed it. The bathroom was very clean. The calamari was wonderful. I think the prices are high for what you get, but it taste good. read more

Meat is very tough and chewy. Took them 3 times to cook one steak correctly. Even after the third attempt, the steak wasn't cooked correctly. They never offered to reduce bill for the inconvenience of the wait of them not being able to make a steak right. The flavor of the steaks were very bland tasting. read more

Decided to walk over to 1830 Chophouse after checking out the vintage car show on the square. Sat outside in the alley seating since it was a great night and we had our baby. Sydney introduced herself and gave us the specials and her recommendations. She was quick to drop off our drinks and take our order. The food came out hot and looked good. It's was delicious.
