Get in my belly cheese steak
Emily C.

Ok so, we know the basics already: - The food is exceptional. Those sandwiches. They are so. Freaking. Good. Amazing ingredients, perfectly cooked, classic and unusual combinations, and they're just the right size. Goldilocks sambos if you will. - It's arguably the first 'hipster' or 'cooler' spot to open up around the Parnell St area, and is a welcome addition at that. What I didn't realise is that it's chock full of friendly, good-mood inducing staff. We were greeted by each of them as we came in, but before you think it, not in an inane brainwashed Abercrombie & Fitch type way..! They all look as if they genuinely love to work there, and the atmosphere created by them is infectious. If I owned a sandwich shop, this is what I'd want it to look like, and these are the staff I'd want to be in it. This will without a doubt be a regular haunt for me from now on. Gwan the 147.

Soup and Sandwich special at 147 Deli

This is a much-neglected part of town, so I was delighted to hear, via Lovin Dublin, about this hot, new sandwich bar. On the day I called, it was busy, but I got a seat easily after claiming my order of the 'Any sandwich and a soup' for €7.50. The soup was *gorgeous* - mushroom with a garlic and parsley oil drizzle. The portion wasn't huge - but the size perfectly complemented the large Roast Beef sandwich with Rocket, Red Onion and Parmesan I had alongside. Truly delicious. The deli has a nice, bustling atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back!

The sandwiches here are amazing. So far I've tried the bbq pulled pork and the 147 steak. The pork oozed everywhere but so what? That's what napkins are for!! Oh and as for the 147 steak.. It wouldn't be out of place in an NYC deli. The sandwiches are so fresh and just nom! You can tell that time is spent on the prep and they certainly getting the best flavour out of the ingredients.. Yes this hipster place isn't exactly in the nicest part of town but please don't let this put you off trying here you're looking for somewhere to grab a great sandwich!!

What a great deli place in the North City Centre! Slightly off my hunting ground but well worth the extra 10min walk. Friendly staff, cool artwork and what am I forgetting....? Oh yes of course: the sandwiches! Yum, yum, yum. First of all, it was hard to choose. Everything sounded equally as nice as the next one on the menu so I picked the one that I was least likely to make myself at home: the Reuben. Oh, you should try it. The dark rye bread brought back childhood memories (in a good way), it was nicely toasted and filled to almost burger size with all things Reuben like pastrami and sauerkraut. Very very delish indeed!

Meatball sub!!

I'm not sure what Parnell Street was originally known for, but nowadays it's Asian Restaurants and bus stops. Thankfully this little GEM breaks that mould. All the food is fresh and what's on offer is constantly changing. Meaning you can go loads and loads and never be bored! Thankfully they keep the favourites on a set menu though, so you can revisit them when the time calls for a meatball sub! Atmosphere at lunch time is especially nice, buzzy but not crazy busy. Plenty of seats and excellent music round this spot off nicely.

Such friggin' good coffee!!

Today I finally popped my 147Deli cherry, and I can safely say that am in cafe-love. The combination of orgasmic toasted sandwiches, oh-so-smooth coffee, friendly staff and student-friendly prices is enough to send me speed walking right back over there again just thinking about it.. I challenge someone to go there and not experience their taste buds dancing for joy.

Pulled pork

The NYTimes did an article about sandwiches in Dublin fairly recently. 147 Deli was one of the restaurants mentioned in the article, specifically for their pulled pork sandwiches. I found myself famished and just a few minutes away from 147 Deli after ending a 1916 Rising tour at the Garden of Remembrance so I decided to give the pulled pork a try. I am definitely happy I did! Wow - what a great sandwich and at a fantastic price. I had a hard time sticking to the pulled pork as my choice because so many of the other options sounded good, too. The bread was outstanding and packed to the brim with flavorful pork and tangy slaw. Even though it was huge I would have gladly taken down another.

The rare thin sliced steak sandwich. Get it lightly toasted. Perfect.

Moved it up to a 5. Great sambo's good honest coffee. Price is acceptable, staff are great and friendly. Get the rare steak lightly toasted...

I can say the coffee is great, I sure will come back for all those good-looking sandwiches. The staff is very nice!

The juice bar.. but I'm here for their pulled pork sandwich

For breakfast most people would prefer with sausage, eggs, pancakes etc., but I'm not a huge fan of having a traditional breakfast. So I was quite pleased that at 9 am I could get a pulled bbq pork sandwich! Lots of meat and not too much sauce, it was the perfect lunch for breakfast option. I wish I was in Dublin longer to try more of their sandwiches. I will definitely stop by again next time I'm in Dublin.

Workers from the nearby offices relax within the jocular interior alongside viewers-of-the-gallery, reveling in the contemporary surroundings made up of buoyant wooden floors and stylish white walls, all of which come together to create a modish environment that nicely compliments the creative milieu of the overall gallery in which to enjoy your tea or lunch break. Tea, coffee, a choice of cakes, quiches, tasty antipasta as well as salads are all on offer, all the selection revealed having been written up in chalk on the blackboard above the cashier counter. This is certainly a laudable place for lunch, and glasses of wine are sold to further your enjoyment. These, together with the actuality that it is the official eatery of an illustrious gallery all affix the café with much significance. However, being fundamentally located in the basement it does feel a smidgen poky and boxed in and whilst the food is sufficient, it is not startling.

The wall fountain was broken, obviously a long time ago and remains a stagnant mess, neglected. This is such a pity as this museum is fabulous, just fabulous. It's a must-see. . This does a disservice to one of Dublin's true treasures. The High Lane is packed with masterpieces and marvels, this restaurant brings it down - though it has a hip and delightful decor- it is badly run, and the wall fountain and outside interior garden has to be repaitred and maintained. Can we ditch the ugly "farmer" picket fence that surrounds what should be a lovely pond and water feature???

I've no doubt the famous scribe himself would have felt right at home here. The interior has an authentic ramshackle feel with a dusty old piano, birdcage and various other bric-a-brac. A red rope prevents punters from exploring upstairs sadly. The cafe serves up a variety of no-nonsense fair, with homemade soups, tasty sandwiches and cakes all on offer at reasonable prices. I always admire somewhere brave enough to serve imaginative soup flavours outside of the crowd-pleasing chicken and vegetable bracket. A steaming bowl of Garlic soup was the ideal antidote to the damp afternoon outside on my visit. Cobalt also boats a lovely leafy-green garden area, the perfect urban escape if the weather is forgiving.

One of the hottest days of the year and we were dragging around a suitcase and in desperated need of a coffee having been awake since 6am. (Surely flights shouldn't go that early?) So in we went. It was a light, high-ceilinged room painted a refreshing Frenchish shade of light blue. Large plants in the corners, a piano, some interesting paintings and little flowers gave the place a vibe which was both elegant and relaxing. We only ordered coffee, however there was a range of yum-looking food available too, as well as an outside garden to enjoy it in. The price was reasonable, the service friendly and we were by no means rushed out afterwards. Will happily return.
