I…read morewas extremely nervous and honestly pretty upset because I had been dealing with pain and complications for almost a year. I'll even admit I walked in with a bit of an attitude -- I was frustrated, in pain, and had already spent a lot of money trying to fix the issue. From the moment I arrived, the Oakwood staff immediately put me at ease. Everyone was professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They were knowledgeable and took the time to really listen to my concerns. Dr. Lin performed a full exam and asked detailed questions about how the previous dentist had completed the procedure. We both came to the conclusion that the previous dentist likely didn't use a safety cover (rubber dam), which allowed an infection to develop under the tooth. What impressed me the most was how thorough Dr. Lin was. The practice has a 3D X-ray machine that my insurance didn't cover, but instead of retreating the tooth blindly, Dr. Lin offered to waive the fee so he could get a clear and accurate picture of the infection area before moving forward. On the day of the procedure, everything was on time and the treatment was done comfortably with no pain. As I walked out of the building, I told my husband I could already feel the pain starting to decrease. By the very next day I was partially eating on that side, and within four days the pain I had been dealing with for almost a year was completely gone. I am incredibly grateful and so thankful for the Oakwood team and Dr. Lin. If you're nervous about dental work or dealing with complications from another dentist, I highly recommend them.

Not realizing how serious it was, I called Oakwood to schedule the consultation and after a few questions they were able to move my appointment up and squeeze me in almost immediately. From the moment I called them, I sensed that they genuinely care about their patients. They provided a clear, honest, easy-to-read estimate for the services. Come day of, I was nervous because root canals have such a negative connotation. The receptionist, the assistant (I believe her name was Lily) and Dr. B exceeded all expectations and made the scary experience extremely comfortable and pain free. The office is very nice and clean and I enjoy that the patient chairs look out a window. Dr. B was very kind, professional, efficient and explained everything thoroughly. I'll even add a bonus...in the aftercare paperwork, they provided his personal cell in case I have any questions or concerns after hours. Let me tell you...I had a procedure once that occurred on a Friday evening before closing and the office is closed on weekends. I got home only to find that the blood wasn't clotting from the procedure so I was bleeding excessively from my mouth for HOURS (almost 9 hours to be exact). I was about to go to the ER when it finally stopped, but in those hours I just wished I had a line of communication to the office staff or dentist to advise me on what to do. The fact that Dr. B provided his number goes to show the level of care you can expect at Oakwood.

After reaching out to several highly rated dentists near me on line, only Rivery got back to me, and in just a couple of hours. I was lucky to get an appointment that same day. Dr Lee and Raegan took care of me and I got in the chair right at the appointed time and we started to work. Long story short even though the crown I needed help with is older than Dr Yee he calmly proceeded to work with various components to get that crown ready to get back (firmly!) on that post. Without going into any more detail let me just say if you're calm and collected while working on my teeth, well then, I'm going to be calm and collected. He and Raegan tag teamed to keep me up to date on the progress and the prognosis yet chill while I was a reclining on that dental chair. Cool dental visit. Should you try them? Yes. But you'll have to work around my future visits - I've already got them scheduled!

Within five minutes of walking in the door for my procedure (and before I could rationalize why I could leave if I wanted to), they brought me back and started gas to ease my nerves. Less then five minutes after that (again, leaving me no time to overthink/panic/run screaming from the fire exit), they started my IV and it was lights out. Dr. Leland also suffered through nervous ramblings about the bowel movement I just had because of the nerves and a nightmare I had about his hands being too big (I have a child's size mouth) so he performed the surgery with tiny hands on the each of his fingers. Yes, anxiety is real and he graciously ended by ridiculous rant by putting me to sleep. As an adult who REALLY struggled to do this very adult thing - I could not have asked for a better, more caring, 'we get you girl' experience. The world of healthcare needs more Dr. Leland(s). 10/10. Five stars. Highly recommend. The Tom Brady of tooth removal, the Leonel Messi of mouths, the Emperor of Extraction - all hail, Dr. Leland!

Nearly two years after a tooth extraction, I received a text message that looked like a scam. I almost deleted it. After doing a reverse number search, I confirmed it came from San Gabriel Oral Surgery. When I called the office, I was told I had an unpaid balance of $957.00 for three 15-minute sedation charges at mixed rates -- supposedly not covered by my insurance. The extraction itself had already been paid for. I was told, "Insurance companies don't like to pay for single-tooth extractions." I immediately called BS and asked for an itemized statement. At first I got an "ummm." After asking again, I was told they would email it to me. I also asked why I was being contacted almost two years later. I was told their previous billing/accounting company "dropped the ball" and they're now using a new one. When I received the statement, it only showed the tooth extraction -- no sedation charges. I then contacted my insurance company and spoke with two different representatives, including someone in the dental department. Both confirmed the issue: the office failed to submit the required doctor's notes explaining why sedation was necessary. They told me the office could resubmit the claim. I emailed the office explaining this. After multiple back-and-forth messages, instead of rebilling insurance, they offered to discount my bill by 10%. I repeatedly asked whether they had contacted my insurance company to rebill the claim. They avoided the question. At that point, I told them I would not pay anything until I received a written denial from my insurance company, because I no longer trust the office's billing practices. I also informed them that Texas state law requires medical providers to bill within specific time limits, and attempting to collect nearly two years later is unacceptable. I even offered to split the cost, despite this being entirely their billing failure. That offer was ignored. Instead of holding their billing company accountable, they chose to pressure the patient. Bottom line: Keep detailed records. Time how long you're sedated. Get everything in writing. Because one or two years later, you may receive a surprise bill with the explanation: "We dropped the ball -- now you owe us." This feels deceptive, and patients deserve better.
