Brought guests here because we had previously had good meals & service. On Labor Day the experience was horrible! We told the manager but the only thing he asked is what time we arrived & jokingly said oh, I am glad I wasn't here. There was no apologies, no offer to discount or give some type of compensation to give them a another chance to "fix" the situation. The manager & other's who were there on Labor Day couldn't care less about providing a good meal or a good dining experience. My husband and I were excited to try this restaurant and we had a gift certificate from family. Everything about this place was horrible right from the get go. The hostesses (two) didn't smile or seem anything but miserable to be there. I asked if we could have a booth to accommodate a small child and was told no. The waitress was enthusiastic and accommodating but brought me the wrong drink. I was hesitant to order the swordfish, an expensive dish, after all this mediocre service but took a chance anyway after I was assured that it was fresh caught and never frozen. I've had swordfish many times and the difference between the texture of fresh and frozen is very noticeable. Well, let me tell you folks, either they boldface lie about the condition of their fish or the chef has moved straight up from the McDonald's down the road. Dried up and overdone!! I could(and have!) cooked it much better. Finally, when it was time to pay, they ran our $25 gift card through for $20. My husband and I were to upset to fight over 5 dollars and just left. The restaurant has a really nice modern feel, and the staff was very nice. I was extremely happy with the quality of food that I got, but the portion size for the sides was a bit small for the price you pay. Okay, so, I always start with the Appetizer Shrimp and the delicious bread and garlic butter. Then for my dinner I grab the Seared Tuna off appetizer section (comes with chopsticks, ginger, wasabi and soy sauce) I and combine it with a side of Mashed potatoes. I always order a tall Malibu Bay Breeze and a glass of ice water. I have tried many of the dishes. The $30 steak at medium rare is phenomenal! Recently I tried the swordfish.. AMAZING! When they have the cornbread being served, they have the most amazing maple syrup butter.. it's heavenly! The garlic mashed potatoes are the best! I love it so much! I always get some to bring home and eat as a midnight snack.. yum! The meatloaf is good too! I didn't care for the crab rangoon dip, not my favorite, but I'm sure it's for someone else. I love the food here and I love trying new things to see what else I'm going to love. I tried the beef stroganoff, I loved the sauce and the noodles, but for my taste, the beef chunks are a bit too large for me (I enjoy smaller bites), but my boyfriend, dad, and two friends loved the meat. Like I said, perfect for other people, just not my whole cup of tea.. All I have to say is: try everything and figure out what you love and stick with it! I have been a recent customer of 110, going there 4 or 5 times. They messed up my order 3 times now, either missing an item or giving me a completely wrong item. I was happy to see they opened for takeout, but Friday night I called and it sounded like a teenage party! I couldn't hear the girl on the phone through the music in the background, and the yelling and laughing in the background!! Who runs this place? The girl was trying and very apologetic, but she couldn't hear me and kept asking me to repete myself. Terrible experiences. Wonder how they'll last like that! read more

Our first time eating here, a party of 3 around 4:00 on a Monday. Upscale decor is nice, restaurant appeared very clean. I had steak tips, the other people had swordfish and a kale/pear salad with shrimp. Service was very good, the food was pretty good (tips over-cooked), better than some chains and not as good as others. Those entrees averaged about 25.00 each. It would have been 1.50 more to add peppers and onions to my steak tips. I'm guessing the tips were about 12 ozs. The same amount of tips at the Old Mill is 18.00. Hmm...at the 99 those would be 16.?? for 16 ozs. maybe 21.?? for 24 ozs, and I think 23.?? for 24 ozs with mushrooms, peppers, and onions. And they are better, too. At Zoe's in Winchendon, they are even less, and a LOT better. The swordfish was like 1/2 the thickness I would expect and clearly frozen. I know they have a "Rewards" system....That's the reason I refuse to walk into a CVS or Kohls now. Call me crazy, but I can't see why you should jack up the prices and then tell me you will "reward" me in another visit or 2. I will say for the area, it's different and better than any place in Athol or Orange I know of. It's better than Tully's for sure, overall. I know a lot of people in this area don't dine out a lot, so it may be like going to NYC and that's why the 5 star reviews. It's definitely not a 5 star place IMHO. It is worth a try, but it's a poor value. Don't forget your wallet! read more

My husband and I ate at the 110 Grill in Athol last night and wanted to say how wonderful our dining experience was. Our server Ariana was attentive, personable and provided excellent service with a great personality. Our food was prompt, hot and excellent. This is not the first time we have dined at 110 yet we would say last night was by far the best experience we had at 110. So often these days, servers do not make conversation and simply serve. However, Ariana was anything but a simple server. She made an excellent meal even better and deserves to be recognized. We will be back!! read more

If I could give the food less than 1 star, I would. I ordered the Pulled pork mac and cheese.(which the waitress said was their most popular dish). I got a small plate of pasta, with VERY little cheese sauce. Mostly, it was just plain dry pasta, drizzled with a bit of BBQ sauce. The pulled pork was a blob of mush that had little flavor and an off-putting texture. My date ordered steak tips, Med-rare. What she got were teryaki tips, well done. We didnt complain then and tried to eat it, because we were hungry, but left half of it on the table. The service and atmosphere were good, and the watermelon margtini was actually excellent, but the food was sub-par and very expensive for the quality, which again, was poor. We won't be going back. The hostess did not seem to know her job. It was not crazy busy and she said it would be 15 minutes. Never asked for our name and there were two other parties as well. She sat the people that came in after us. A man came in who left his credit card here the night before was told he would have to wait a few minutes because her manager was really busy, but didn't go tell the manger he was here. They were short staffed and there were a lot of tables that weren't cleaned off. Service was good but a little slow. Food was okay, but I don't think it was worth the price paid. Ladies room had no toilet paper in the first stall and no paper towels to dry hands off. I told the hostess but she kinda gave me a "whatever" type comment in response. Don't know that we will be coming back here anytime soon. read more

We went to lunch on July 1st, which was a Monday and it was relatively quiet, got seated right away. Our server, AJ, was very friendly and attentive. My sister is a vegan and was very happy with the large vegetarian section, she had the Beyond Burger which she loved. I, being from landlocked Colorado, chose the lobster roll-very delicious! Wow we had a wonderful experience here for a private party! The service was excellent, Sarah was attentive for our cocktail hour and I didn't get our gentleman servers name for dinner but he also was great and very accommodating. We had a terrific assortment of appetizers, cheddar, Brie and mozzarella cheeses, fruit, crackers and flat bread pizzas. I highly recommend the onion, Gorgonzola and (I think) fig jam flatbread, delicious! Dinner selections we had were Salmon and Sirloin Tips, French fries and broccoli. Caesar and house salad. Both salads were excellent, fresh and not to heavily dressed, perfect. The Salmon reviews were excellent and my tips were juicy and flavorful in a bourbon glaze. I'm not really a fan of the sweet on the meat but it was totally doable, the tips could have been a little rarer but with a big group totally understandable to all be medium. They did get to get to be a medium well after resting so that might be something they may work on. Really though this is a terrific new addition to Athol and the place was packed on a Saturday night, with a hip feel and huge fire pit roaring outside. This small chain really is bringing some fine food to an area of western Mass. that deserves it. We'll definitely be back, when visiting Athol again. Placed was packed on Friday night your wait. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar. Service was great. Had the tater tots putine was extremely good. Turkey burger was big and cook to perfection. I've heard good things about this place, and so I had to give it a try. We stopped here for lunch on Easter Sunday. It wasn't very busy. We were quickly seated, and the servers were polite and attentive. The decor was quite nice also. We ordered the Calamari, fish & chips and French Onion Soup. We were given rolls, which were a bit dry, and barely warm. The calamari was quite good, and the dipping sauce was tangy and sweet. A great pairing. The French Onion Soup was okay. Not fantastic, but not bad. The fish & chips was terrible. The fish was mushy, not flakey, and seemed undercooked. I could not finish it. The tartar sauce tasted like mayo and dill seasoning. I did not like it at all. While visiting the men's restroom, I was quite disgusted to see that some degenerate had been nose picking, and wiping it on the walls around the urinal. I would guess an employee, as there are too many "leavings" to have been from one visitor. It obviously had been there for some time. Please, clean the wall. It's disgusting. So, I see that there are some very positive reviews on this place. My guess is that these locals must be accustomed to pizza and McDonalds. I won't be returning. read more

On Monday, September 3rd, 110 Grill of Athol helped me participate in a very honorable event called Meal Train. One of my dearest friends lost a little baby girl very recently and their friends organized a Meal Train for the family. I had volunteered to bring my meal to them on Sept 3rd, but got a very unexpected work related emergency. So I called the manager of 110 Grill of Athol and asked if they would consider to help me out since my friend lives just about one mile away from them I live about 30 miles away. Christine Kulkeen, the manager, was very polite and honest and mentioned that they don't offer home deliveries just yet. But when i told her what i was doing, she got very emotional and asked me to hold on while she asks a general manager. Within less than 2 minutes she gave me some very positive news: she offered to take my order over the phone and deliver meal to my friend's house by herself. This is what I call above and beyond customer service. If I happen to be in the area, I will most definitely stop by there to eat. Overcrowded and underwhelming, -- including food preparation and the menu, the Honeymoon is over in less than a week --first impression we gave them the benefit of the doubt that they are "new" and we thought 'trained extensively' -- second time around -- they do look at you as a (turn around) dollar sign and certainly not a returning customer, simply stated, Not Impressed, if we want big screen TVs blaring on top of us and in front of a bar we could have chosen to go to a bar or stay home with our own TVs blaring!!! Atmosphere is for the adolescent, let's hope 110 grows up, at least in Athol, Ma.!!! read more

I love the 110 Grill in general (eaten at several location), but the last few times we have been to the Athol location have not been very good. First, it seems they changed their batter at this location and it is waaay too salty now. I love salt, but it was overpowering the flavors of the food. We couldn't even finish our onion strings or pickle chips and typically we love them. I actually had onion strings in Leominster a week later and they were fine there. The last time I went to Athol, I asked about the batter and they said it had changed so I avoided anything fried and had the fish with green beans. Their green beans are usually great but this time they were brownish and overcooked. The fish was okay but not as good as previous times I have had it. Another time the kitchen messed up our burger order and my burger was cooked well done even though I asked for medium rare. The server confirmed that the kitchen had messed up and offered to redo it. But I was so hungry I decided to just eat it instead of waiting forever for another burger. This past weekend we just decided to go somewhere else rather than take another chance. I hope the Athol location can get things sorted out because in general 110 is my go to restaurant. So I can only give it 3 stars now. I hope it will go back to the quality that I expect from 110 grill and I can increase my rating. read more

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! A friend and I went to Grill 110 in Athol, MA last night. It's a new restaurant in our area and we wanted to try it out. What a great experience we both had! The food was as good as any fine restaurant, anywhere. Our server, AJ, was on top of his game all the way. He was knowledgeable, attentive, sought our opinions and really seemed to care what we thought about the restaurant, the food, his treatment of us, etc. (We hope we get him again). The food was perfectly cooked for both of us. The bread rolls served while we waited for our orders to be cooked, were yeast rolls. They were soft and light, very fresh and seemed to be homemade. A mild garlic and parsley style butter was served with them. My friend ordered the Ribeye steak dinner. The steak was cooked correctly all the way through. It was tender, hot, juicy and very flavorful. His side dishes were also great. (Try the garlic mashed potatoes - delish!). My fish and chips dinner was a few cuts waaay above what is usually served at other restaurants I've frequented. The fish used was codfish. It's batter was golden, the texture of the batter was light, crispy, flavorful and not greasy. The fish itself was very flakey, juicy, tender and there was not one hint of "fishiness". It was as if we'd gone to the wharf and had bought a fresh fish right off the boat. The French fries that came with it were thinly sliced, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and had great flavor. They were not salty at all and they did not taste greasy, either. Our side order of Onion Rings was wonderful! Very, very thinly sliced onions were used (no minced bits). The batter was light, golden, very flakey yet held onto the onion slices without falling off. The Onion Rings came piled high on a platter and there was plenty for both of us. We both ordered the gluten-free chocolate cake to see what it was like - and loved it. It was just like a regular chocolate cake both in texture and flavor. It was served with pureed berries, whole berries, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. NO ONE would guess it was gluten-free. NOTE: The menu has no prices on it. The Ribeye steak dinner was $32. My fish and Chips was $17. The tall glass of Sam Adams beer on tap was $6. The Onion Rings was $5. The chocolate cake was $8 each. The iced water with a slice of lemon - priceless!. On our way out we walked past the outdoor fire pit sitting area. There were tall, glassed -in gas torches lit at each corner of it. The seating looked ample enough for a good sized family to comfortably enjoy. Athol has needed a great restaurant for a long time. Now it finally has one. :-) read more
