Ordered for pick-up. Upon arrival we were greeted courteously and she brought out the togo order. It stayed super hot 20 mins later when We got home to eat. The fish was very tasty and tender. The chips were seasoned with just the right amount of salt. We were provided utensils, tarter sauce and vinegar 2x. This was great however, the containers for the sauce are small. We ran out of tarter sauce with half piece fishes left. It was sad rather. In the end though I will be back and yes this time I'm asking for more tarter sauce! read more

Don't know what happened to this place. This hole in the wall place used to be THE place to go. Came here on Friday night for lent. Very disappointed in the fish. It wasn't fluffy crispy. The service was impeccable, we arrived a little late close to closing and they still accommodated us for our needs. Here's an update. On my last visit, which is about a month and a half ago, I assumed that this place has changed owners. The reasons are: -There is a new staff of ladies that are behind the counter. I no longer see those two Asian ladies that I normally see. -The interior was repainted -The menu board design changed as well. They still offer the same items that the previous owners had, minus the chinese food. Ok, back on the review. Whenever I come here I order combo C, if it's the right one, it consists of 2 pieces of fish, 4 pieces of prawns with chips. It takes about 8-10 minutes for your order to be ready, which is well worth the wait. The fish is long and its prepared from scratch (not pre-frozen like most places. It's hot in the inside, crispy on the inside. Same goes with the prawns. The fries are good, most of the time. As mentioned before, I assume that this place has changed owners, but the service is still good. They greet you in a friendly matter and they call you up when your order is ready. They have a much better selection with many offerings including chicken. There is s small sitting area but this is not a service restaurant, but the owners were very friendly. This is perhaps the best place to get Real Fish and Chips in Fremont. The Fish strips are ;large fillets and not the precut ones you get in the box or at many competing locations. their breading almost always seems to be perfect and the portion size is LARGE. The two piece fish is big enough for two people. I usually get the seafood combo with oysters, shrimp and I think muscles. All are perfectly cooked. No Line cook here almost always see a older lady and gentlemen cook. Being Asian run they also have a collection of Chinese fast food which I have never seen anyone order. The place has a collection of Nat Geo magazines form the 60's which always make an interesting read plus the ambiance is very sea faring like with lots of ocean related paraphernalia. For the price you're paying, it's not worth it! I'd rather go to Red Robbins for some what a similar food. I love the staff here, they're always so nice and welcoming, like really. The service is excellent. But the food does not meet the standards. The ambience is sorta a disappointment because it's Newark, most of the restaurants are running nice and have a standard. I usually go in with a buddy of mine and i order beef lumpia and a #7 which consist of 2 pieces of fish, and 4 large prawns, and of course fries/chips and a fountain drink The lumpia is very generic/ store-bought in taste, yet i myself still would prefer that over an very americanized eggroll/chinese spring roll and it comes with Thai sweet chilli sauce on the side (mae ploy brand im guessing) i enjoyed the prawns, breaded very crispy and fluffy, and i usually dip that in either the sweet chilli sauce or tartar the breaded fish is very crispy and sometimes the whole pieces of fish will slip out of its breading, however its well , but far from your average authentic beer batter . Also, its defiantly not cod! but covered in malt vinegar and dipping it in tartar sauce it was delicious none the less also they have siracha as a condiment ! I've been coming here randomly for as long as I can remember. As the years have gone past, so has the quality. I love the fact that this is a family owned business, but the fish and chips are just average in my book. It just doesn't have that "WOW" factor I was hoping to get. This was the WORST Fish and Chips I ever tasted bar none. The "fish" was not freshly battered and was the kind of pre-battered fish you buy in the frozen fish department.... barely edible and the "chips" where previously fried and refried for my order. The lumpia was mini--which the sign did not state and were burnt. The burnt lumpia was the result of frying the rolls with both ends open instead of the correct way--both ends closed, hence the hot oil burned both ends and all one can taste is the burnt beef. Shame!!!!!!!!! Zero stars if I could give Zero stars I would. My 3-piece fish and order of Lumpia cost me over $15.00 and I threw it away as it was not fit for human consumption. I found this place to be horrible as well. I had the number 2 special (two pieces of fish and chips) and added an order of onion rings. On the way home I sampled the Onion rings (I was really hungry and they say food taste better when you are hungry), but could only get through 3 out of 10 of them. They were definitely greasy and had this funny sweet after taste. When I got home I gave the fish and chips a try, but couldn't really eat it. The fish was super greasy and the chips were just ok because they tasted plain and too salty. I have to admit that a fish fillet and fries at McDonalds would have been a better choice. I've had Fish and Chips in London and this place has got nothing on that. I guess the first sign should have been that this place offer lumpia, Wonton Noodle soup plus the Fish And Chips. I love fish and chips. However, this place does not have much to love about it. When I arrived at 101 Fish and Chips around 6:00pm in the evening, and there were no other customers around. It should have been a clear signal to me to turn around and find another place for dinner, but my curiousity got the best of me. I ordered a 3 piece fish and chip meal to go. After receiving my dinner, I asked for ketchup packets. I told the woman that I use a lot of ketchup, and she stingily gave me only 4 packets. That kind of sucked. Do ketchup packets cost that much money? Where the fish is concerned, they were decent sized, but they were bland/ tasteless. To describe the chips, they were french fries similar to the frozen Orieda brand that you would find in the grocery store. One time at this place was good enough for me. A hidden gem. This place is a staple in Newark. I'd never been in but have had take out. Driving by, didn't want ordinary fast food. I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised. While the restaurant isn't updated, it's clean. It has cool decor. Lots to look at. The owners are so nice. A bright smiling face popped up from behind the counter when I walked in. I didn't expect there would be so many options of fried deliciousness. Overwhelmed, I went for the usual: 1 fish & chips. It was ridiculously cheap. The chips were fried to my favorite golden brown crisp perfection. I also ordered fried pickles. They're prepared as spears. They're excellent! They have everything fried that one could want: fish, shrimp, scallops, calamari, fries, pickles, onion rings, lumpia, vegetables, BANANAS! The list goes on. They also have clam chowder and wonton (pork and shrimp) soups. There is a cooler with canned sodas and a few bottled drinks. New on their menu is Thai iced tea. Seating is available - about 10 tables. I didn't see a bathroom. I'm looking forward to trying other items now that I know they have so much.
