100 Steps in Cranford is a great spot for fresh seafood and good deals. They have great Happy Hour deals that run Wednesday to Sunday from 4-5:30PM with 50% off oysters and clams, plus 25% off petite and grand seafood towers. They also have an After Dark menu from 4-7PM with small bites under $10. It's BYOB, so you can bring your own wine or champagne. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great! A nice, relaxed place to enjoy good seafood at a good value. Check out our full visit here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQ5h32bjSZU/?igsh=N2EyN2JocXludDJz

Phenomenal! 100 Steps does not disappoint. Excellent service, amazing and creative food, laid back atmosphere. The menu changes frequently based on the seasons and I've never been disappointed. Restaurant is clean and cozy...do not skip this place!! FYI it is BYOB so I like to look at the menu in advance so I can select my wine/champagne before I go. This time we had several happy hour apps, regular apps, entrees and sides. And don't skip the espresso and scoop of vanilla gelato...it's heaven!

Definitely a five star experience!!! We arrived just before happy hour ended (4-5:30) and they were kind enough to place a quick order of oysters!!! They were super fresh and delicious... favs were west coast (sorry NJ). Next, came the Parker rolls!!! Probably my favorite part of the meal, but then again, who doesn't like homemade, freshly baked rolls with buttered top and a touch of salt!!! Because everything looked so good, we opted for a bunch of other appys to start! The New Zealand angus beef bites were served with horseradish aioli and a Parker roll, the halloumi cheese was accompanied by orange slices, prosciutto, radicchio and dehydrated olives. The octopus was spectacular... crispy with romanesco sauce, fried chickpeas, cilantro and paprika breadcrumbs. Of course, we had to also try the OHS mussel pot... with chorizo, saffron, garlic cream, sun dried tomatoes... and an herbed garlic roll on top!!! LOVED THEM ALL! It's not often that so many different, but complimentary flavors are presented in each dish!!! We could have stopped our meals there and would have been pleasantly satisfied and full! Next, we chose a couple of the sirloin sandwiches with fries, and the squid ink pasta with Calabrian chili and Meyer lemon breadcrumbs!!! All was very good. The evening was finished with 3 of their delicious desserts... the lemon meringue tart was the perfect sweet with a pucker. The molten dark chocolate cake was decadent. And the trio of gelatos were each so uniquely flavorful and delicious! Wow!!! Given that 100 steps is a BYOB, it makes everything even more affordable! We had spectacular service in this beautiful restaurant with amazing food! It was quite a special evening!

I had the happy hour oysters that was yummy. I got from the lemon...click wise 2 each of pickering passage, chinteague,Stella mar. They're so yummy! Deviled egg has wasbi flavor, 4 half eggs in an order And parker bread ( 3 to an order) was soft and served hot. Everything was good. Service was very good and quick but we came at 4 pm when they just opened. I'll be back to try the dinner.

My experience at 100 Steps Kitchen was impeccable from start to finish! The owner, Jack greeted my friend and I at the door and offered us a seat at the bar area (raw bar). This restaurant is BYOB, so don't forget your wine! While sitting at the bar area, we were able to watch the hardworking staff shuck the fresh oysters. We started off with the Park House Roll (a must), 18 oysters & slow braised Spanish octopus. After devouring our apps we ordered the OHS mussel pot & New Zealand short ribs for dinner. For dessert we went with the crème brûlée. I truly enjoyed my entire experience from the service to the food. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I will definitely be returning when I'm in the area!

10 people on a Sunday night....reservation at 6PM. While I like not being rushed, the service was so incredibly slow it took us 3 hours to complete the meal service. The food was good, but we definitely had some issues with the menu write ups not fully matching the meals that were delivered. Oyster sampler - we ordered two double orders. All four people who ate the oysters agreed that while they tasted good, the oysters were poorly cleaned, poorly shucked (macerated oysters, bits of shell in the oyster) and the overall presentation/ preparation was quite lacking. Slow braised octopus was cooked beautifully and tasted great. Crispy outside, soft inside. The OHS Mussel Pot - tasted great but the description did not mention the red pepper and/or other spices that gave the dish a fairly decent kick - while it was fine for me other diners who aren't into spicy foods were turned off by the flavors. The Crème Brûlée was noted to be served with fresh mixed berries. The molten lava cake was not, however it came with both berries and a raspberry sauce - not a problem for me but again not exactly what the menu described. FYI - no liquor license however a local liquor store can deliver bottles of wine (or BYOB)

Celebrating my mother's birthday at one of me favs - 100 steps! Raw bar, bouillabaisse and affogatos! Always excellent.

Only had the oyster sampler but was 10/10. A little pricey but for good food it pays. Also a bit pretentious for the area.

I'd say we were successful in that regard, and this is probably one of the top two places I've been now in town, along with Garlic Rose. Even if you didn't have access to the menu, this just LOOKS like an upper-class steakhouse - lots of darker interior colors with deliberate use of lighting almost like the aisles in a movie theater. We did the responsible thing and made 6:30pm reservations, though the restaurant was relatively empty when we first got there (it filled up for sure during our dinner). We were immediately seated and attended to, which was a pleasant recurring theme for our experience. On the booze front, we each got an Old Fashioned, which was specifically cited on the cocktail menu, and a bottle of Daou Cab Sauvignon to share (I let my chum take the lead on that selection, which I think was influenced by the strong reviews on the Vivino app - a recommend if you're into that sort of thing). The Old-Fashioned was decent; I'm always pleased when the de facto bourbon is Angel's Envy. I'm not crazy about vermouth, which I always think gives off shoe leather vibes, but I did like the smoky profile on this one. Not bad at all, but I liked the bottle of wine better. We decided to split the Grilled Octopus app, which came with seasoned potatoes, olives and tomatoes. This was arguably the weakest part of the meal. The octopus was a little tough/rubbery and the accompanying potatoes to me were very much needed and better, frankly, than the designated star of the show here. I'm not an olive person but my chum's comment there was they were too overwhelming, taste-wise. Noted. We also got a side of parmesan truffle garlic steak fries, which I didn't have too many of because I was distracted by all of the other options on the table, but would totally get again. For entrees, it felt morally proper to hit up the cattle (when in Rome). I went with the Braised Short Ribs, which is one of my go-tos if it's on the menu. Pretty good - VERY tender and literally falling off the bone. I'd say about 20% of it was too fatty for me, and I pawned that section off on my chum, but the other 80% was primo. She got the Filet Mignon Oscar style (which my computer wanted to autocorrect to Oscars, thinking it was the umpteenth time I was typing something about the Academy Awards), and was very pleased by it. Not mindblowingly amazing but solidly above average across the board. I'm not sure why we ordered dessert at this point other than to ensure I had something else to munch on the following day, but we did that too. I got the Cheesecake w/ Marionberry Compote. This was just okay for me. Taste-wise, the cheesecake seemed a little off for my palate; maybe a little too tart? It didn't seem as milky as other cheesecakes, which doesn't necessarily mean it was bad, but wasn't my kind of cheesecake. The compote was also just okay, both in the moment and as a leftover the following day. Maybe I'm just used to getting this dessert with strawberries and compotes that are similar to that type of fruit, but I just didn't think the compote and cake meshed as well. Debatable though. There's room for improvement but this is a strong entry in the Cranford gastro scene, such as it is.

Staff is very professional and friendly, always making sure everyone is having a good time. Honestly, all the food is great here but some of my favorites are definitely the carpaccio and calamari appetizer (the calamari is the BEST I ever had, hands down) and their coffee panacota for dessert is also out of this world, just amazing! For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.
