This was only my second visit to this place and the last time I had the last at station #9. Phu was a tad rude and my gel nails are already chipping and my cuticles are sore. Terrible service at this location in Bel Air. Female manager is rude. Please do not send coupons that cannot be honored. I went on 9/9/23 and she would not honor it for a later date as she was booked both on 9/9/23 and 9/10/23. My daughter comes from Virginia to take me and is only available on the weekends. When she asked if they would honor the coupon after 9/13/23 she wouldn't. Also, when you request two people to use a specific nail technician like Vuong (Ben) Nguyen she refuses to do so. On 9/9/23 my daughter requested Ben Nguyen for myself with a dipping manicure and pedicure; and herself a dipping manicure only. The female manager tried to say he doesn't work on Sunday but I have been there on Sunday's in the past. I got a Manicure and pedicure as well as eyebrows I paid for the signature pedicure which is an extra 10$ for the scrub not to be completely washed off my legs, they did not give me a callus removal nor did they clean underneath my toe nails. I grew up in Abingdon Maryland and moved to Alaska found a great nail technician there... a man named Den in the Dimond Center mall for anyone curious about visiting Anchorage Alaska. Lol. Two years after I moved back to Maryland and moving to Northeast MD due to my job it was time to find a nail tech that was able to do stiletto (pointy) or almond (with a slightly less pointy tip) someone who is professional and not sloppy. Previously I hadn't gotten my nails with a regular tech since 2016 in Anchorage, AK for a special event. Fast forward to me finding Ken at #1 Nails. Every time they are beautiful and just what I want. He is a perfectionist and very focused. I'm not sure what the complaints are about because I haven't read them yet but I will say since I grew up in the area they have surprisingly rude clientele. I had not been to this location since it came under new ownership. I came in on a Sunday afternoon as they were able to get us in for one pedicure and one dip manicure. The place is small but cute, even with an appointment, we waited 15-20 minutes to have our services started. My friend had a pedicure, she said it was good and she would come back again. The massage chairs were nice and they used clean tools from a sealed pouch, and they offered several options for pedicures and extra options too. She did the classic pedicure $28 and said she would get it again. I had the dip manicure with Ken as my tech. He did a great job, my French tip dip looked great and lasted almost a month. It was $45 for the French dip, which is the general price in the area for that service. We would go back. read more

Update: I've been here twice since my first visit. The man at front has 0 customer service skills and barks orders at customers, including me, and isn't even that good at doing nails. I like the work of the one lady but even she's kinda rude too. Went in during a random weekday afternoon for a fill and gel polish change. It was slow and they were able to see me right away. I think my lady's name was Linda. It was one of the best times I've ever had my nails done. She took her time to properly shape, file, buff my nails. She even made sure my cuticles were perfect (which many of these cheap walk-in type nail salons don't do). She didn't say much to me at all - which I actually prefer. I used to love coming here to get my nails done, they always looked good and the employees took their time. Nowadays when I go my technician (the owner) rushes me and is very rough while handling my hands. That doesn't go for all the technicians, if you want good looking nails book an appointment with Sam or Linda. Update: The day after I got my nails done (I got them done this past Friday, so we are talking Saturday) they broke! All I did was grab my phone and my nail broke off right at my nail bed, luckily it was a painless break! But I had planned to go back the next day, Sunday, and get my nail fixed. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE. A young man did my nails and i left with nothing but wet messed up acrylic powder. He had completed my nails with chrome glitter and left a glitter mess everywhere on ONE hand. I asked him if he could please take the excess glitter off the one hand to match the other and he told me no. He told me he would not fix my nail and that I needed to pick a whole new design. I asked him to just fix the two messed up nails and he told me no. He would not because he didn't want to. This used to be my favorite nail salon.. for over 12 years they always made me feel at home. I loved getting my eyebrows done, manicure, pedicure.. one stop shop. One day, I went in for a Mothers Day mani pedi and it was the worst experience I'd ever had. And I've been to the beauty school for a mani pedi. Then they got a new waxing girl, who constantly insulted me. As in every time I went in. So I stopped going. That doesn't mean they aren't good, it just means I have had enough negative experiences to never go back. read more

One of the male nail technicians could have been much gentler on my hands though, the skin around my nails is raw from the "sanding" tool they use. I really wanted to like this place. The first time I walked in, Ken did a beautiful dip/powder set and I thought I found my new place. I scheduled my next appointment immediately. Within a week one of my nails chipped so I called and they told me to come back to get it fixed. when I got there I decided I wanted to see if they were just ask good with pedicures. One of the ladies did my pedicure - seemed okay but nothing more than that. Ken wasn't available so he had someone else fix my nail. It wasn't shaped as nicely or smooth at all but I didn't complain since I knew I had an appointment in the next week and a half. Once I got home I was able to see that my toe nail polish was absolutely HORRIBLE! it was hard to tell at the shop because of the color I picked. I called and they told me to come back the following Monday. When I got there, Ken was the one to "fix" my toe polish. He literally just added 3 thick ass coats of paint on top of the already uneven polish and top coat. I was so shocked and fed up, I just left. Normally I would have said something but why do I have to tell a professional how to do their job? I contemplated cancelling my next appointment but ultimately decided to keep it. Went in today for my appointment with Ken and he was not there so someone else did my nails. I decided to go with an acrylic overlay this time so I would know for sure it would last longer than the dip. Nails look mediocre at best- different shapes and sizes. I also got a polish change on my toes- again, a mess. Their work is sloppy and careless. I'm really disappointed because I was trying out these simple services before committing to them being my new go-to place. I like to get my nails done regularly and I tip very well when the tech actually does a good job. I'll be going back to luminous until I find a place better than there as well. Poor customer service. My cousin and I walked in. We were greeted promptly however were not told that there would be an extreme wait. We seated ourselves. At no point did anyone address us or let us know there would be a wait or how long for that matter. After watching a customer come in who had scheduled a appointment at 3pm be told that she did not and forced to take a 330 I knew I couldn't support a establishment that did not care or respect it's patrons. My cousin and I chose to leave. We were not even told goodbye or wait what can we do as we left. Being a small business owner of 15+ years I would never want to give this image and impression to a new customer. I've been coming to the salon to see Linda and she is AWESOME. One Friday was very busy and there was a 30 minute wait. Linda is worth the wait and I had my earbuds and Netflix! About 20 minutes into my wait the older gentleman that sits behind the counter summoned me to come over and I assumed that he was just going to take my polish off. When I came in I told them I only needed a fill because I left the color of a dress I was going to wear at home. He started on my nails and asked if I need a cutdown, I said yes looked up at the price board to make sure I was only paying $16 dollars for the fill. He stated that "the cut down is $3 and to take the gel polish off was $3 so he was charging me $22 total!!!......Really?! Normally a cut down is no-charge when getting your nails done and who charges to take polish off. Normally I do get gel nails but I was going to change the color I needed to match a dress the next day. He was nasty about it and I was HOT but I needed my nails done.
