I get the feeling this place is losing business, which may be because not all the techs are trained for all services. One time I went in for an acrylic fill and was told by the one tech in there that she only knows how to do the dipping procedure. I have sometimes met the owner, who owns another shop elsewhere, here to get my nails done. She generally does good work, but this time she spent the entire time on the phone with someone - in other words, multitasking. When she struggled with getting a design on, I told her it might help to get off the phone, and she flatly refused to. That ended our association, I'm afraid. read more

Called ahead to reserve spots for 3 gel mani/pedis. The pedicures were alright for 2/3 of us but less than an hour later, the polish on my friend's toe was smudged and messed up. When it came to the manicures, each of us had some issue. It got decently busy right after we started our manicures and that's when the attention to detail stopped and we were rushed through the process. One of the workers made my friend bleed on 4 separate fingers due to cutting the cuticle too close which really wrecked the whole "relaxation" vibe. The same worker didn't clean up the gel around the finger and it was cutting into her skin on the sides of her nails. There was no consistency in services for any of us. One got a hand/arm massage with lotion, the others got oil rubbed on our cuticles and were told we were done. We will see how long the polish lasts but we will definitely not be returning. read more

Thankfully the manager stepped in and saved my nails from looking terrible. I don't think Tammy, who did my SNS Dip, had much experience. It was a pretty painful experience due to the fact that she was almost drilling my cuticle off trying to shape my nail, then after she did that she clipped them off and then cut my nails too short. As far as shaping my nail after the dip, there were so many ridges still in my nail. I think she could read on my face that I wasn't satisfied and let the manager know. The manager stepped in and fixed me up a little but I'm not totally satisfied. After she fixed it, Tammy put the top coat on and was finished. I was a little disappointed because I felt like my cuticles were drilled off and she had me leave the salon without putting cuticle oil on my nails. I'm giving this a 2 star because the manager stepped in and was really sincere about fixing things. Next time I will go to the manager. read more

The rudest worst nail salon EVER!! So rude!! It's pretty inside but I will absolutely never return!

My aunt is new to the area and was looking for a good place to use every few weeks for pedis and manis. Unfortunately, my aunt did not have a good experience here. It was $40 for a French gel manicure. Her cuticles and the skin near the top of the nail were cut too short and bled. The white is not straight and the bad file job doesn't help how they look. Very worrying is that the manicurist did not wear a mask during the service. Overall a disappointment. read more

The best SNS manicure I've ever gotten in Roanoke. They take their time and do it right. Clean and relaxing space. 4 weeks later and I'm home again for the holidays hoping I can get them re-done here before I leave. Honestly the manicure could probably last another week, but I was just so happy about this one... willing to refresh early. read more

After going to another salon and walking out with the ugliest, most jacked up looking nails I decided to come here hoping for nails that I would be proud to show off. I was not disappointed! My nails look amazing and don't feel (or look) like thick, chunky globs of acrylic thrown on my fingers! My nails look amazing, feel amazing and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be around! The salon is bright, clean and very welcoming. I will definitely be going back from now on! read more

I've been here twice now and they've disappointed both times. The male nail tech has no idea how to polish and they are clearly using thinner in the polish because it takes forever to dry. The second time I went the polish was literally sliding off of my nails because he applied too much cuticle oil. He tried touching them up but it looked awful and wouldn't dry. I had him repainted my first toe and he did not seem happy about it. He scraped around the toenail so hard I thought it was going to draw blood and then didn't bother to apply a topcoat. When I asked him for a toe separator (which the other nail techs were using) he got really agitated. I say under the dryer for 15 minutes, applied the quick dry spray and left. In the car, I blasted the ac on my feet so the polish would set and didn't wear shoes for two hours. They still didn't dry. What a waste of time and money. Never again. read more

Quick professional service. Wish they have more choices of colors. I had to re-do one toe's color because the person who took off dividers from my feet not carefully, touched accidently and scratched it. read more

Love this place. Lavinia, Tammy and Tony are awesome. Always friendly and they do such a great job.

Got my nails done twice here. This is the first place that my gel nails have lasted 3 weeks. That was enough for me to come back. The place is very clean, and the staff is friendly. I'm on my second week with my current gel nails, and they still look great. read more

We walked in and we're quickly greeted and seated after we chose our color. They're worked swiftly to complete our services but I did not feel rushed at all. The staff is friendly. You choose the pace of the conversation, which is something I like at a nail salon. The atmosphere is clean and looks well taken care of. I'll be back! read more

I went to this salon for several years and stopped because they closed and at the time no one could do acrylic except Lavinia. I went to a different salon for about 5 years and no longer have acrylic nails finding that was ruining my nails. I have been back at #1Nails for the last 2 years And had been pleased with Lavinia and Tammy. Tammy no longer works there and there have been many staff changes over the last few months. Most of the techs really do not know what they are doing for either manicure or pedicur. My toenails and feet are a mess. My fingernails are not all shaped the same or the same length. my cuticles on my fingernails were drilled off and on has gotten infected. They were sore for days. My pedicure was really poor and my nail colors do not match. I'm very frustrated and paid a lot more than I normally do. Lavinia needs to get rid of these new techs and find someone with experience and she needs to stay at the shop to make sure things are done correctly and customers are not over charged. I'll be looking for another salon. read more

They are very polite and professional. Moved to the area over a year ago and have been trying to find a standard pedicure that includes a decent massage. I finally found it here! They were also very sweet to my daughter. The place is clean and decorated well. read more

Rushed through my nails. The lady told me prior I was only being charged for a color change and then proceeded to charge me $25 just to cut my cuticle, no filing. I got my nails done yesterday with the gel polish and three of my fingers have already chipped- I'm not hard on my hands at all. I won't go back read more
