5 year old, "Rainbow Nails" and OPI Gel Mani

Absolutely AMAZING! I truly adore 1 Nails & Spa! I grew up in Manchester, so this salon has always been the "go-to" as far as local nail salons. I no longer reside in town but my corporate office is there. I am so glad I can easily utilize the amazing customer service and quality of work at 1 Nails & Spa! I've also taken my 5 year old niece with me a few times to get her "nails done" as well and the staff were so kind and gracious. They were really good with her and made it so very special. I cannot say enough nice things. They are always friendly, efficient, and have a high level of excellence! I highly recommend this nail salon!

My first time here I got a mani-pedi, with acrylic nails and a regular polish pedicure. My pedicure was lovely and done by a young woman, let's call her woman #1. My acrylic manicure was done by an older woman, let's say woman #2, and was horrible. My cuticles were cut and bled, the nails were filed crookedly and were all uneven, and she painted my nails so quickly that they formed bubbles over night. My friend with me got a regular pedicure as well and a gel polish manicure, done by an older woman, woman #3, who rushed and was very rude, making my friend very uneasy. For the mani-pedi, it cost me and my friend a total of $50 each. I'm writing this review in the car driving home with my friend after our second time at this establishment and we are both VERY unhappy. We got a regular pedicure again, and both got dip powder nails. The older woman, woman #3 as mentioned previously, tending to me dipped my fingers in a bowl of acetone to remove the acrylics I had on previously and didn't have me remove my rings beforehand, and the black paint on my ring melted all over my fingers from soaking in the acetone for too long. She also rushed to get me to sit down so I didn't get to pick the color for my toes and they do not match my fingers even closely. My friend had the younger woman, woman #1, I had the first time and her experience was pleasant, other than the fact that the salon's base coat for the dip powder manicure was TRASH and she had to wait for my manicurist, woman #3, to finish my nails before she could continue getting hers done. The woman doing my nails was muttering in a different language under her breath and aggressively whispering to her coworkers, making both me and my friend very uncomfortable. After this horrible 2 hour mani-pedi experience, there was nail polish all over my fingers and under my nails and the total price was $70 without the generous $5 tip I gave the woman who did my nails. They were soooo polite to not charge me a stupid $10 for removing my acrylics. My friend demanded that they fix the polish all over my fingers. We will NEVER return to this salon. UPDATE: it has been about an hour and a half since I have left the salon and my toes are turning red and are tingling. I believe an infection is forming and I have never been this angry. Debating returning tomorrow and demanding for my money back. See the last photo for evidence of this.

I had to resort to this place last Sunday because i couldn't get an appointment at my regular nail salon. The lady that did my gel nails was ok..she took forever fussing over it and still,my gel color fell out after a week! Not recommended! A complete waste of money.

Gel manicure peeling after less than one week. Never happened before when I got gel manicures at another salon. Not happy with this.

I'm not one to typically be picky, but knowing it can be done better makes me more observant. I decided to try this nail salon purely out of convenience. I was at the Starbucks nearby and had previously gotten a gel manicure done elsewhere. I wanted to get this one removed and a new one done. What happened first was that she had another client she was working with and took me on as well. I was not aware of this until I was sat down in another chair. Secondly is that instead of doing one nail on putting my hand in the UV dryer and then doing one nail on the other hand, she did one entire hand then had me keep that one in the dryer while doing the second hand. If you ever had a gel manicure done, you know it can hurt after a little while keeping your hand then. Maybe I should've spoken up, but I assumed every nail salon has a way of doing things. Thirdly, it hasn't even been a week and the bottom part of my nail it looks like it is starting to peel off. When I got a gel manicure the previous times, it looks nothing like this, it looked pristine for three weeks and I never had to go in for any fixing. I should've just gone back to that salon to get my nails done again. Happy Nails in town is where it's at. Massages while you are waiting for your nails to dry as well as they wash your hands for you instead of telling you to go do it yourself. That last part isn't a big deal, but at Happy Nails it was a much better experience for the money. My advice to the staff: don't take a client when you already have another one that you were working on. Also double check your work, once I had to tell her that she forgot a nail and other times I had to tell her that there were streaks and spots in my nails that need to be fixed. The staff should be more on top of that. Also alternate between doing one nail on each hand versus doing an entire hand at once. It's hard to keep it under the dryer for too long.

This is after a month. I can't be any happier

Well I like it here, if I get Matt and Tina I'm good. Matt did my nails and they lasted a whole month which is unusual for me cuz my nails grow fast. Other places I went my nails use to lift like no tomorrow. I'm going to get a fill soon and I'm sure it's going to be just as great as the first time. Oh and Tina oh Tina. She slayed my eyebrows. My eye brows were like bushy majestic caterpillars, now there slick and chic. Not too thick not to thin, great arch every. She can be a little more gentle, honestly she made me feel like my eyeball was going back into my skull. She applies to much pressure onto a customers body and eyes. But so far so good

    What I asked for

I walked in as a new customer. Super excited about their $25 pedicure! My original nail tech is away for two weeks so I figured I'd get a fresh set here as well. I asked for medium long length ($15 extra ) and ombré pink and yellow. Long story short. I was so disappointed with the end result. I didn't even let him finish putting a top coat on. The lady barely scrubbed my feet. And all together I paid $80. Not satisfied at all. To top it off the charge you $5 extra if you use you credit card. Or they make you use their atm and pay the fee. I WILL NEVER recommend them again

I walked in and was told by guy at front of shop they could handle 2 pedicures. My brother and I sat in the chair and a lady who spoke no english said $45? $45? . I told her yes assuming she was going to do something fantastic . She started on my brother and I waited for 15 minutes for someone to show up to my chair and she said $45? 45? . This must be the magic number !! I said no and I ended up paying $25 . She said they do light clean up of foot and heals for $25 The difference between the $45 and $25 was not that much .He did get salt rubbed on his calf ( from dollar store )! What really pissed me off was the guy Mott charged me tax ??? Ive never paid tax on a pedicure have you??! Plus the ladies behind me weren't charged tax so I called from my car and he said he had an "arrangement " with his customers for flat fee! What a bunch of bull! Look at the photos of the $25 dollar job ! Pretty bad !

Bleeding thumb and not up to cuticle with color

I have been here before where the owner did a good job on my nails (powder dip) even though I had to wait a long time. Since he did a good job I was happy. Yesterday I went while being home for the weekend and it was the worst manicure I've had. I did powder dip again, which can be a longer process because you have to groom the nail more and after once the powder is on. This process (which normally is 1 hour) took about 30 min. The woman that did my nails used a drill to cut them down, which made them go down to my nail bed even though I asked for a trim and file to an oval shape. I have long nail beds that extend PAST my actual finger so I cannot have short nails. Needless to say, my nails are shorter than my nail beds which is incredibly painful. My cuticles on my thumb and ring finger also bled from being rushed. The whole process felt rushed and aggressive, and I ended up not leaving a tip for the manicure. I could have said something after the drill but my nails were basically gone within 10 seconds so what does it matter? I will likely not be returning here...it is also cheaper in fairfield county to get a better manicure with kind employees. Almost $50 to have my nails in pain!

THIS DOES NOT MEAN I EVER FEEL PRESSURED TO BUY MORE SESSIONS. I appreciate being told if there are upcoming specials if I'm running low and want to take advantage of any upcoming price reductions. And this doesn't happen every visit so no one is hounding you. Miranda is hands down the best technician I've had. She's careful and careful and thorough! She makes sure I look my best before leaving. And she talks me through what I think will be painful- and it isn't because Miranda is so great. This salon is the cleanest I've seen. I was getting waxed at hair or nail salons in a back room on a folding table before finding EWC. The rooms are hygienic and CLEAN. Fresh paper on the wax bed after being wiped down, clean counters and no hair everywhere. If you are going elsewhere- you're doing it wrong. This is where you need to be going

Right off of that as soon as I walked in, there were two other people waiting, and the store was completely silent no music. Reception was probably the worst part of this experience. The girl that handled me seemed somewhat preoccupied and on the phone insisted that I arrive as soon as possible, but I waited another 20 minutes not such a big deal, but it felt really weird standing around with nowhere to sit, and pretend to shop for some of their products to pass the time. My experience was the Brazilian wax was great. My wax technician was very friendly, nice and knowledgeable. I didn't really pay much attention to it at the time, but when I arrived home, I noticed that there were a few missed spots on my inner thigh and other lady parts . Checking out I was offered to purchase a bunch of different options for wax passes for one or three of the services that I just gotten and I felt bad that the receptionist did all of the work out to offer several different kinds of payment plans declined as I always do at EWC - like most people I don't go in for a $60 wax and just casually drop 900 bucks on a year worth of waxes that's some thing that I deliberately purchase and don't need to be asked every single time I get a wax. I wasn't even annoyed and even thanked her for doing the work, but she simply shook her head and checked out. Gotta say that went right up my behind and solidified my never returning to this location and prolly EWC altogether- it was giving me Barnes & Noble vibes where if you don't purchase their unneeded membership, then guilt you into thinking they're going to get fired basically. the quality of the wax they use has kept me coming back here since prior to Covid but I just don't know if it's worth the uncomfortable decline of wax passes every single time.

While told to pick our nail color, the woman tried to upsell gel mani/pedis. We kindly declined and I already get gel manicures with my regular nail tech on a regular basis. While we were getting our pedicures, the woman continued to sell my friend a gel manicure. My friend, being the nicest and kindest person said yes to a REGULAR manicure; and yes, the woman was obnoxiously trying to get my friend to upgrade to a gel manicure. I really should've listened to the red flags of an empty salon and DIRTY towels for pedicures. They had nail polish stains on them but to me, that's still dirty. My friend told the woman she's had surgery on her ingrown toenails so please don't cut them. The woman continued to cut the ingrown toenails to the point where my friend had to repeatedly ask her not to and she was grimacing with pain in her voice. My guy did the same thing to one of my toenails and kept trying to clean the blood off my skin for 15 minutes as if I didn't notice but I was more concern for my friend. We got the "Deluxe Pedicure" so after the scrubbing, the woman put a HOT towel on my friend and BURNED her foot (see picture). My friend let her know the towel was too hot and that she burned her foot but the tech shushed her to be quiet because there was another customer getting a pedicure. My friend wasn't any louder than normal conversational voice but she still shushed her. My friend then got upset and said she would like to pay the bill and leave. The tech now said she didn't speak much English after trying to upsell us on gel manicures and pedicures and having conversations throughout the service. I stepped in and said exactly that. She called for her boss to come out. My friend told her boss that the tech burned her foot and clipped her ingrown nails after repeatedly asking her not to. The tech and her boss looked at my friend's feet, spoke Vietnamese and laughed. At this point I am furious that my friend is quite upset. The boss said they were laughing at something else. Yeah, okay. We pay and we walk outside to talk. I asked if they charged her for her incomplete manicure and she said yes. I went back inside and ask them to refund my friend for the incomplete manicure at the very least because it was such an awful experience. The boss lady didn't want to. I did the run down of all that went wrong and she still didn't want to. So I told her that we are nurses and salons aren't certified to cut ingrown nails and if they're certified to show me the proof. She ended up refunding the manicure after that. I'm of Southeast Asian descent and they asked what my ethnicity was (at all Asian run salons I go to) because they want to know if I understand what they're saying in their native tongue. As a trilingual person, I find this extremely rude. Most cases you're saying inappropriate things when you switch to a language the person doesn't understand. I asked if they were Vietnamese because I knew they were and their faces dropped. I don't care who you are. You don't speak about hurting someone during a pedicure in your language and laugh. It gives negative vibes, period. There's no excuse for that. I would give them ZERO stars. I do NOT recommend this place for any service. This was our first time there and definitely our last time. Please take your business elsewhere!!!!
