Richard was very nice but I feel the company is not professional and questionable per other vendors and my experience dealing with both mold mediation and other contractor/handyman for many years. First, there was No written estimate--only verbal. To me that was the first red flag for this kind of work that cost thousands of dollars! If there's nothing in writing they can charge you anything. Additionally, he wanted me to sign a blank form! That's just unheard of and I let him know so and turned them down. The form is a California emergency form ‍ I guess whereby if there is emergency work (like you have a flood or it's extremely hazardous and you must have the work done NOW they have a form? ) Never had heard of it before but also never had that kind of emergency. However, I was told by other contractors that there are a lot of people in this business who are not licensed and/or don't know what they're doing (I honestly found this whole thing unethical (no matter what he wanted to say). It was not an emergency! Additionally that form basically says that any money received from your insurance goes directly to them (if you file an insurance claim). It was just all too much in addition to being blank and no written estimate. I ended up hiring Superior Restoration. They were amazing! Quick response and reply. I requested a free estimate for the water damage on the ceiling and the statement of opinion, because we are unsure of what was causing the issue. Our landlord insists the damage is on our end and blames us, but he helped us prove it was not the case. He went over every details of the causations of the water damage and mold. He measured the dampness of the ceiling and said it is continuing issue. He told me that the leak from the pipe seems minimal now but it will cause a big problem if the pipe explodes. He also explained what the landlord could do and should do for us. He went over what can be covered by home owner insurance and was willing to leave me a record as a proof of the conversation. The water supply line to the ice maker on my refrigerator was leaking and soaking into the surrounding walls causing water damage to the base boards, mold in our pantry, and wet carpet in our office.
