We have used this service a handful of times and every time it has been a breeze. We are able to call and schedule something within that day or next day! They give you a time frame for your appt but keep you updated on their arrival! Each time ours let us know they finished their previous job early and arrive ahead of schedule! They have a breakdown of how they charge and its by volume/ amount of stuff you need to toss. They see how much you have and show you your price before they start and you pay at the end of their services. Each time the workers they have brought out have been fabulous. I received a junk removal service from a local company two weeks for two large items and my total was $125. It was a small business and the guy couldn't have been nicer. When I needed to book a second removal I decided to try 1800junk as their website and google stated it would be a minimum of $129 for one small item. When they arrived they told me it was going to be $198 for a minimum. I had a tiny futon mattress. I found this so misleading. I'm going with the cheaper local business next time. I also was told on the phone and it stated online that they could possibly donate if it was in good condition. When the guy arrived, he said they definitely did NOT take mattress as there was a risk of bed bugs. I don't mind what the answers are but being misled is no fun :( read more

Not sure if this is the right 1-800 GOT JUNK location. But, I just had a crew go to clear out friend's unit at an assisted living facility in Van Nuys. My friend passed away. I got all that was needed out of the unit; but, there was still a lot of odds and ends I didn't know what to do with. The facility took some of the toiletries and other unopened goods. But there was still so much. ( A bed, a TV, a microwave and a lot of clothing and empty boxes). I can't seem to add the photos that were sent to me. I was not at the location when this job was done. Like many reviewers here, we got an estimated quote that ended up being double the price for just one large couch. I understand if we were dishonest and the couch ended up being bigger than anticipated, however we made it clear what the size was. They didn't bring their own equipment to disassemble, so they asked to use ours, and left it all a mess on the floor afterwards. Also, they brought two people, but only one man was actually putting in the work to deal with the couch. The other man was chatting my ear off. They ask you to pay upfront including tip. I, naive, gave them a nice tip because they do hard work. But I wish I hadn't. We were a little desperate because we had less than 24 hours to get rid of the couch, as our lease was up. It cost the same for them to spend 30 minutes disassembling a single couch they were just gonna toss, as it did for us to hire movers to move our entire 1 bedroom apartment in 3 hours. My specialists were friendly and accommodating but the price is pretty disappointing, although I'm not sure it's much better anywhere else. Cons: Told the customer service person I wanted a quote for removal of about 1500sqft of carpet and the padding underneath. This was a pretty big overestimation of sq footage. They said the minimum charge is $190 but that would likely not exceed $240 but that they would give an updated quote upon arrival. When the guys got here to pick up the stuff, they said it would actually be closer to $800! They said misquotes happen often over the phone all the time and called their headquarters to knock it down to $625... still way more than we were expecting, but we were desperate to get the crap out and they agreed to take a bunch of other junk we wanted to get rid of so we went with it. Pros: The movers were SUPER friendly and personable and swept up the dust and debris after. They take just about anything. They came out told us how it worked, we showed them what we had and based on their eyeball gave us a quote. The quotes are based on how full the truck gets, IF they load the truck properly they can fit LOTS of stuff all depends on how they pack - n - stack. They arrived with a empty truck, had their ppe respected the 6ft rule at the best of their ability & ours. The men were VERY friendly, professional & seemed to enjoy their job. The final price came in under what their original quote was so it made us happy & well worth not having to load up trucks and going to the dump ourselfs. Bait and switch. They came to my home looked at what I had. Quoted me for a 1/4 Truck. Once everything was loaded they said well looks closer to 3/8 of a truck so we have to charge you more. This place is great if you are in a bind and just need to get rid of things fast! They are expensive, but you are paying for the convenience of having your stuff hauled away quickly and on your schedule. For me, it was worth it. When we left the condo, we had an old sectional couch, an entertainment center, and lots of other small odds and ends we had tried selling at a garage sale, but were unsuccessful in doing. We had tried scheduling Salvation Army, but they weren't available on the weekend and we couldn't leave all this crap outside the condo during the day. 1-800-Got-Junk it was. I made the appointment online. I love that you have so many options and can choose multiple time windows for them to show up. On the day they were coming, they called and told me exactly when they would be at my old place, and they even got there before I did! I had two nice guys walk around the place with me as I pointed out everything that was going. It was great that I didn't have to move all the items to one area, they will go wherever you tell them. I think it took less than an hour and they loaded up and took away all the crap I needed to get out of the condo. Of course donating or selling your stuff is the way to go, and it's much cheaper than hiring people to take it away. But if you are like me, and stuck with a bunch of crap and you are crunched for time, I recommend using them. read more
