Great crew there and hardly my first time. While in Burbank its been privately run since Shinanigans decades ago. I go during LUNCH which can go either way but NO ONE is arriving in business attire to recycle. The crew usually offers to help but I refuse because it's their lunch time as well. It was easy to find and drive in and find parking on a Friday afternoon, even though there were other people there. It's not immediately clear where to go and what to do but they have plenty of staff to direct you. They asked me to empty my different types of bottles (clear glass, colorful glass, plastic) into three large cylindrical barrels before they weighed them. I can see what other reviewers are saying about how they don't fully put the container on the scale to ascertain the full weight of the bottles. They hand you a receipt after weighing and you take it to the window to cash out. They ask you to sign the receipt before giving you the money. All in all, it's an easy process and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble because I don't have that much to recycle at a time but it might make sense for the people sorting pickup trucks' worth of recycling. Pro tip: Sort your recycling in advance so when you get to the recycle center, you just have to dump it into one of the barrels and not sort it on site. read more

This is one of my go-to recycling center since all the Pasadena and Altadena recycle centers have closed. They accept almost all kinds of recyclables here. You can drop off your CRV items as well as cardboard boxes and newspaper sthat you recycle for no money. The staff are generally quick to help you once you have your recyclables sorted out in bins. They will then give you a slip and you go to the cashier to get your money. The whole process is fast and easy. read more

Pretty easy to find and park at this large recycling center. Lots of blue plastic garbage cans to use to separate aluminum, plastic and glass. Workers here seem cordial. Glass has to be separated by color in separate cans. Then drag the cans to the person who does the weighing. They give you a receipt which you take to the cashier window. There you put your name on the receipt and get paid. A lot of steps to go through but it helps the environment AND pays for my breakfast burrito at nearby Corner Cottage! read more

I've gone to other recycling places. Like the one on the grocery store lot. I'm sure you know the one. They seem to skim a few things here or there or take down a number before the bin is fully loaded. BUT I suppose nothing beats a more legit source if you're trying to get the value out of your recyclables. Burbank recycle center is also a good place to get rid of excess cardboard. Really enjoyed the convenience of using the Burbank Recycle center since grocery store centers often shut down or aren't open. This is what happened to me one morning and with a car full of cans in Burbank, quickly googled the next nearest better and Google brought me here! It's a sizable complex and take much more than just cans and bottles (see website for the breakdown). There is also parking! There are gray, Empty trash bins that you first separate your glass, aluminum and plastic into. Once complete, drag the bins to door 20 and a staffer will weigh what you bring. As he weighs, there's a public sink to wash your hands and use sanitizer. Once complete, the staffer will give you a ticket to redeem your cash. You then take it to the ticket window at the office bungalow right by the parking and the Cashier will cash you out (and is very helpful). It was an easy process and have great hours. I'll definitely eat back, it's very convenient to the 5 freeway! read more

The usefulness of having the recycling center here in Burbank is great, but the way the employees were today (a Saturday) was just awful. As I drove by on the outside, I saw "exit only" further south on flower so I thought the exit was there. As I was trying to leave, I found myself in their area, and every single employee treated me like I was a straight up idiot. One lady was aggressively shaking her head at me, and two guys were looking at me and telling me to turn around and clearly the exit is over by the entrance. God forbid I saw an exit sign the direction I was going. How about talk to your employees about kindness. Perhaps they were all miserable for working on a Saturday but that left a horrible taste in my mouth. If you go to the recycling center, don't make any mistakes! read more

Steer your car to Burbank's sleepy Flower Street (the best street to get between Burbank and Glendale on the DL), and pull into our city's Recycle Center super big and clean parking lot. No clowns or hobos here. It's spotless! Tons of giant bins for paper, plastic, cardboard, metal, all that stuff. A huge area for electronics from the biggest clunky TV to yesterday's desktop. Hoarding plastic bottles or glass? No lines, friendly staff, spotless bug-free cans and containers for your goods, then it's on to the weighing station to collect your winnings. So happy they are open again! Everything is well spaced out and the signs clearly label what can go in each bin. Also, the new bins are much larger than the previous ones so they don't fill up as fast. It hasn't been busy the few times I've gone since they reopened, but people may not realize they're open again. Masks are required and there is plenty of space to unload your recyclables without others crowding around. Note - they're currently only open M-F and aren't offering CRV redemption. read more

I had been coming here for about a year now for all my recyclables. I used to go Planet Earth by Ralph's but this place is way much better. Lots of parking is available. As soon as you park, you can grab as many drums as you can for sorting your recyclables. You can bring them next to your car which allows you to make unloading and sorting much easier. Then you will need to bring the sorted items inside so you will be in a shade and out of the heat of the sun. It will be weighed in and process in a computer and a detailed summary of all items including weight, rate and total refund will be handed to you. They will take note of your car's license plate # on this receipt. Then, you will head over to the cashier's office located across the sorting/weighing area for cashing it in. You will be asked to sign it and presto, you get your cash reward for recycling. The whole process is really fast. There's never a line here every time I come in. The people are always nice and greet you with a smile. The place with all the crap that comes here is surprisingly, not stinky so I'm really impressed. They even allow you to use the sink for washing your hands. You can even use the paper towel and hand sanitizer next to the sink. Facility is huge. They have different bins for all recycling stuff. You can drop off all other times that can not exchanged for cash such as cardboard, pieces of metals, plastics, wine bottles, glasses, electronic items (TV, stereo, printers, speakers, computers, monitors, etc), bulbs, batteries, etc. They don't accept though, any construction materials such as paints, boards, cements, etc. I would have easily given them a five star but I took off that one star because of the filthy drums used for sorting and weighing. They need to wash it because of thick grime and dirt instead. This doesn't deter me from coming back but if they can improve this one issue, then I will not hesitate giving them a five star. read more

I only poked in for a moment. It would have been shorter had someone proactively came to assist me. I suppose seeing people read the literature and signs aimlessly is normal. Id save a bag of medicinal "Drams" made of recyclable material Polypropylene (5 PP is the recycle triangle on the bottom of the dram). I wanted to know, at what weight would it be worth recycling these?.. How much do you receive per LB of this material... No one answered.. I got out the car with my bag... Stared at signs and a couple of workers here and there. It was during the week so it wasn't busy.. Clearly by the two workers sitting in chairs having convo, kicking back. I had to walk up to them and ask them where I could recycle my bag. THEN they asked questions.. How much do you have.. I only had the one bag.. They told me to put it in with Mixed Plastics... That was it.. No talks of reimbursements.. Understandable if I didn't have enough weight for a coin.. Fine. But tell me that instead of instructing me to give my recyclables to a place that is known to pay people for them. Or educate. I walked away not even feeling like going inside the little house/building on the premises. Questions unanswered.. On the positive I 100% know Drams are recyclable. read more

Don't waste your time visiting this place!!! They just don't respect what the customers do. They pay less than 50% whatever we pay at the counter. Each person allowed to recycle 50 plastic bottles 50 glass bottles and 50 cans , just try to tell them you are recycling by count you will see the changing face of the mexican guy ... that mexican guy who works there he is not spouse to be there he doesn't know that without customers visiting there he gonna be jobless, which gonna happen if he continues to be rude with customers . Want to be honest, he is the only rude person at that recycling center, there are 2 more workers that I met can't tell anything about them. read more

This is my go to recycle center. The only negative for me is that it isn't closer! The staff has always been friendly and approachable. There is ample parking - I have never had an issue finding a place to park since there is a lot and plenty of space. This was the first recycle center I visited in California so I was completely unsure of what I needed to do. Luckily, the friendly staff helped me out the first time! There are giant bins stacked up and you sort your items into the bins - you bring the bins over to where you are parked to make it easier. The bins aren't the cleaniest but I think that goes without saying since this is a recycling center. Once you have your bins filled up with recyclables, you bring them back over and someone will weigh them for you. You license plate is noted on the receipt. There is a small building off to the side on the property where you can take your receipt and cash out. Super easy and quick! If you're hesitant to recycle because you don't know what to do or where to go, this is the place to check out. read more

It's a dirty recycling place with employees not paying much attention to you or trying to be helpful. They're in their own zone. Completely ignoring customers when you're trying to hand them the recyclable items. The bins are super dirty. You must dump your bottles in their bins and take it over for them to weigh it. After touching one of those, I feel I have every germ on the plant on my hands. Take wipes with you. It seems the bins are NEVER washed down. Smells. The whole area. I've been here twice, didn't have parking issues or much of a line. In the summers, it's very hot. The parking lot isn't covered. The employees weigh your items in a covered space, so you get some relief from the sun when you step in. Convenient parking. I do like that you can take the (nasty, dirty) bin over by your car and dump all the bottles in it. Makes it easier. Once they weigh your items, the guy gives you a receipt. You walk it over to the register area, the lady sitting in the air conditioned room takes your receipt through a tiny slit and pushes your dollars out to you. I would give them 5 stars if they cleaned and washed their bins, had employees who were a little nicer, and some sort of shading for the parking. A sink for the customers would be nice to wash their hands. read more

If you live in Burbank, you will be happy to know that the Burbank Recycle Center is open again and you don't have to take all your items over to a neighboring city. They take just about everything you could imagine for recyling. In addition to the items I can get cash for, you can drop off other plastics, old electronics, etc. It's also a lot cleaner and neater than before. As I am soon to join the throngs of unemployed, I figured I ought to get a little pro-active about things. So, despite having a recycling system in my apartment, I started saving my bottles and cans and persuaded the bf (who should live in the ocean, he drinks so much water) to do the same. After about a month, a couple humble trash bags in hand, we came here to get a few dollars for the piggy bank. At first it was a little disconcerting-what the hell now? There are employees around, but they aren't exactly chatty. We pulled into one of the maybe dozen parking spots and did what everyone else was doing-grabbing empty trash cans to sort the plastic, aluminum, and glass. Then we dragged them over to the weigh station, which smells like ass in case you hadn't imagined. Now I understood why the workers didn't exactly want an excuse to open their mouths and suck in the stench. Because there were only two people in front of us, it took about five minutes to get our voucher for cash, but if you show up at a peak time, bring a parasol, hat or reading material to stay comfortable, because with just one scale on which to weigh items, you're going to have to wait and the Burbank heat doesn't exactly nullify the stink. Their cashier station is right at the exit, so you can pull your car up to leave and run out to submit your paperwork. Seconds later I had a whopping $8.20 for my troubles, but hey, when I'm unemployed that pocket change to some will equal two coffees or a meal for me, and an indulgent outing until I discover just what's next for me. read more

Then they weigh the stuff and give you a credit on the spot which you can redeem in cash right on site, about 40 feet away from where you do the recycling. Super helpful. Just *do not come at the end of the day.* They get understandably cranky when people rock up 30 mins before closing or even closer to closing. I did it once, not planning to again!
