We had a community clean up day in April as one of our Earth Day activities. Some neighbors dropped off recycling. I volunteered to redeem the munched plastic bottles, rattling cans, and occasional bottle we found while tidying up the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised. Glendale Recycling Center is efficiently run and the service is great. The staff helps move the lines along and everyone is very nice and hardworking. And if I read the prices correctly, GRC pays a few cents more for plastics + cans than those SuperA grocery store guys in a delivery truck. I know this because I left the SuperA guy in Cypress Park when he decided to take his lunch 15 mins. early and close up shop. Glad I looked to YELP and found this place in a snap without wasting time. Also, this place is almost like an all-in-one recycling center where you can not only get CRV money, but also drop off old electronics, all those Amazon cardboard boxes, and some other things that you can't throw into your regular trash bin. (Some items they don't accept, but they'll direct you to where you can take them.) Since this was a pleasant & relatively painless experience, I just might make a daily habit out our Earth Day practice and return every now and then. read more

what a fun experience! i recycle but only usually only through my waste management. to raise money for my kids' school, we started to run recycling events. we just completed our first run at it and raised 97$! so you need to sort out all your recyclables into different bins (BRING GLOVES!) and the guys will weigh them. i must say, the guys here are so nice and helped us sort our recyclables. they were super fast, it was fun to watch. they also encouraged us to continue to come back after we're done with the fundraiser which i think i will so my kids' can "make" some money. read more

This was my first time going to a recycling center, and I had a fantastic experience here at Glendale Recycling Center. There were a lot of available parking spots. Despite of them being busy, an employee went of out his way to see if I was doing alright. I think my body language signaled him that I was confused, which I was. He kindly instructed me throughout every part of the process. I had a lot of fun and this was all thanks to the wonderful employees. Plus, they made my visit even better by providing me with hand sanitizer at the end. Lastly, I thought that this place would reek like a public restroom, but it was actually quite nice. read more

I used to just throw it in the bin but you know what you are giving up? Cash. Maybe it's because I have had a little more free time during the pandemic but I discovered you can make some nice cash by saving your soda cans, ice tea bottles, wine and beer bottles and other stuff. I took in a load and left with $40! So heck yeah, I am saving that stuff from now on! I got a couple of gigantic boxes out of the garage and now I just throw many cans or bottles in the boxes and take them here when the boxes fill. The center also takes a wide variety of stuff. All those Amazon boxes? They pay money for them. Old Christmas lights? A microwave that doesn't work? Don't recommend for e-waste! Found the better alternative down the road. I went to drop a couple boxes of e-waste from cleaning out a family member's house. Although advertised through City of Glendale, this center seems to be operated by for-profit Allan Recycling, and it all seems to run in a way that is best for profit, not the citizen or environment. The scene was somewhat chaotic when I arrived. The individual helping me didn't explain much but told me they couldn't take my light bulbs (ok that is in the fine print) and handed me back one random cord saying "we can't sell this". I asked what do you suggest I do with the light bulbs twice and he just ignored the question. I ended up paying 35 cents per pound and they take only cash or check, no card. Also for some reason they said they needed to write down my driver's license information. It took maybe 20 minutes to handle a couple boxes with a lot of poorly explained steps in between. I was eventually pointed to the city run facility a mile away called the Safe Center. Turns out they take a much wider range of hazardous and e-waste, with much less hassle, no charge, no taking of personal info. They were generally friendly and efficient and felt more like a public service than a corporate entity. I've been going here for over a year now and it's been great! The men that work here are really kind and helpful if you do have any questions to ask. It's pretty simple instructions. Make sure to separate plastics, cans, glass, etc. into the bins and you're good to go. Usually most recycling centers only allow weigh ins but they actually allow by count as well. (Only 100 bottles/cans per day though). Rest has to be weighted or I usually would have to come back another day; which i don't mind because it is fast and convenient here. read more

Very organized. I'm in and out quickly. Check when they are open. They take a wide variety of materials but check the list so you don't get stopped with something that they don't take. They unload everything from the back of your car or truck so having your materials organized in boxes really moves the process along. read more

I've been coming here for a long time. The workers are great, in and out quick best time is go in the morning vs later cause of traffic.

This place is up and running and really efficient. It doesn't have a big giant obnoxious sign so you have to keep an eye out on how to get here and it's tricky pulling into the driveway cause space is tight and it's right off a busy road. But the location itself works. The staff is efficient, keeps to themselves, friendly to be approached and of course pleasant and helpful- that was dope. They were really helpful to everyone and I love people who just know how to operate like that. read more

Great place to drop off your CRV bottles and cans to get a quick pay. Efficient process, clean enough, and even some shade. Thankfully during the couple times that I have gone, I have not come across any shady individuals. It's in a fine location of Glendale and probably one of the better places to bring your CRV items. What a cool place. First, I'd like to dispel some misinformation about this place since I just went today in July 2021! 1) This place DOES accept and pay for your cardboard. They don't pay much for it, but they do pay. 2) Parking spots are NOT small. They are average/large size. I was able to fit my Rav 4 with no problem and room to spare. I consider the parking spaces at Trader Joe's small. The spaces at my mechanics are super tight. This was easy and the spaces were plentiful. 3) They have many workers at this place, sort of like a drive through car wash. If you look lost or like it's your first time, you can get any of the workers to help you. One of the the workers, Joseph, led me through the process of driving my car onto the scales to weigh my cardboard. Even as I was finished and leaving the lot, he shouted, "Sir, you good? You get everything taken care of?" And we both gave each other a thumbs up. 4) Customer service is excellent. They are direct, but not in an unpleasant way. Actually, it's more of a "teach you how to do it so you know next time" sort of way, which is cool in my book. 5) Okay, so this is how you do everything. You pull into a space. It helps if you back into the space. Don't worry, you'll have room. Empty your soda cans into one of the big metal bins. Make sure your cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles are separated ahead of time. You can empty the other recyclables into the other metal bins, but if you have a smaller amount, they have smaller bins up front. I'm not sure if other waste pays, but they have huge apartment sized, labeled garbage containers for other recyclables. Anyway you roll your bins to the man collecting cans, and he gives you a receipt. You take the receipt to the cashier up the walkway. Then she gives you your money and you're done! If you have cardboard like me, you drive your car onto the scale behind the cashier building--stop on the scale and wait until the green light--then drive off and empty your cardboard into the big pile at the end of the lot. Then drive around again onto the scale--so they can get the weight of your car without cardboard--wait until the green light--then drive off and park. Go to the cashier and tell her you dropped off cardboard and MAKE SURE TO GIVE HER YOUR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER. They get a lot of cars. Then she gives you money for that. Also the cashiers/receptionists are super nice and answered the phone when I called earlier with no hiccups, so the other review complaining must be outdated now. Current receptionists are wonderful. That's it folks! Have fun! I had a whole trunk full of cardboard I've been collecting for 3 months, and a couple of parties worth of cans and bottles, and it totaled a little over $3. This is a fun thing to do if you have the time, or to do with your kids and teach about saving and hard work. Other than that I'll probably just keep recycling at my house. But fun times! read more

Helpful, nice people. They recycle by the pound for glass or plastic bottles and aluminum cans. They will pay CRV per items if it is 50 or less of each kind. They accept old computers too. I went here for the first time today and the staff was very friendly and efficient. My building doesn't recycle so I bring my glass etc here. I thought it was odd that they charge to recycle electronics. You can actually recycle electronics for free at any Best Buy. I once saw an old PC tower dumped next to my dumpster and it bothered me to see it there. It picked it up and dropped it off the next time I went to Best Buy. It was super old and they will take any electronics, it doesn't matter how old they are. Also if you have a old Mac you can take it to any Apple store and they will recycle it for you and you will actually get some money for it!! read more

Not a ton of communication, but signs aplenty notifying you to separate your own loot. It says attendants can help you, but I just followed protocol by watching the folks that look like seasoned vets. The signs do say just ask someone if you need help, so if you're worried about doing the wrong thing, just speak up. The guy doing the weighing didn't really give any kind of eye contact or acknowledgement of a human presence in front of him; just a man going about his business in a rather robotic motion. I don't bring a lot worth a lot; more just doing my part. If you're looking to make a pretty profit, I'd do a little more research before landing on this spot. read more

Super easy place to recycle at. Does get surprisingly busy sometimes during the day and also on the weekends. There are bins that you separate your cans and bottles into and they weigh it. Then you go on line to get your money. They also recycle computers and old batteries but you have to pay them, so I'd recommend going to the e-waste on the weekends on Colorado if you have electronics or paints/liquids to recycle. read more

I come here to get rid of broken electronics. Apparently you're not suppose to just throw them in the trash because they contain toxic chemicals that seep into the Earth and poison the soil. Or worse, create some kind of super evil abomination that will come and kill all humans for our wasteful ways. Instead, you're supposed to take your broken electronics to a designated recycling center like Glendale Recycling Center! I've been here twice. Once to drop off a broken iMac (RIP, you fine machine) and this last time to drop off a broken 55 inch VIZIO flat screen TV. Actually, the TV wasn't even broken. You could still watch it; it's just that a band of lights had gone out in the middle of the TV so there was dark line going across. Eventually my wife and I didn't even notice it, but then I thought it was ghetto to be watching a broken TV so we switched it out with another TV that we had in the bedroom. It isn't as nice. It's an LG, but it gets the job done. Also it's not broken. I mean, the picture quality isn't as good as the VIZIO, but what can you do, right? I actually felt bad. I hoped maybe someone would realize the VIZIO wasn't broken and could somehow salvage it. Do people even fix things like that anymore? Or are we totally in a world where we just dump anything that's broken? It seems more like the latter. How many TV repair shops do you see anymore? When I was a kid, they were around everywhere. I wonder what happens to all the recycled TVs and electronics. Wouldn't it be a damned shame if they just got thrown in the trash anyway? Like how I read that even though we recycle everything in our garbage, it just goes into the trash anyway. Humans are such pieces of shit when it comes to protecting our planet. Also, the recycling center smells really bad, and there's birds flying around looking for trash. And it's loud because there's all this heavy machinery moving around big ol' stacks of smashed up cardboard and metal. That's right. You can come here to recycle your bottles and cans and collect that CRV money. I don't think most people recycle bottles and cans because it's not worth it unless you're really broke as fuck. Well, that's not true. My dad used to recycle bottles and cans. It seemed like a lot of work for not that much money, though. I mean, you have to bring in A LOT to make it worth while. The end. I have been a customer for about 20 years...my wife's truck got gere and the workers right if the bat blamed us ...that it was our fault tge supervisor and the workers hanged up on us saying it was us that hit there stupid forklift ...till they saw the video...and came back saying ooo.yes it's our fault....so...im done...never returning again...bulll....very unhappy....yes they did fix the hit but it was there words that where unfixible in my book.... read more
