1800 Bartend was amazing. From the first day learning how to properly pour to only TWO weeks later (or one week if you did 8 hour days) I felt like a REAL bartender. My instructor was Ed and I feel that his methods, acronyms for drinks, upbeat positive and patient attitude, is the reason learning was so easy and fun! Very enjoyable experience. When I called to start seeking employment opportunities, letting them know I was safe serve certified and attended and completed 1800 bartends 40 hour course, they were very impressed and out of 6 interviews I went on, 4 of them wanted me. I got to pick where I wanted to go. VERY impressed by what I learned. Totally worth the 40 hour class and the money! With the skills I leaned I will make that money back in a weeks time! They do not only teach us how to mix drinks but also how to deal with difficult situations any bartender may at least encounter once, and useful tricks and tips that could make us potentially become a popular bartender - good service to customers as well as bring high sales to bar management . All classes are provided with learning materials and practice time. Definitely a fun environment, you can learn , feel comfortable to ask questions and yet have fun with other classmates. Danny Hollywood is a great instructor, very detail oriented. I think he's really meant for teaching, he covered steps/ techniques that seem simple but very useful. I was always into bart ending, but wasn't sure how to get started. I ran into 1-800-Bartend from a friend who mentioned it to me. I wasn't sold at first because it seemed to be just like any other company. I took the 40 hour extensive course and with my schedule being so busy, they helped me work around it. It took me about a week to pass the course. You can go all day or just morning or at night. They help you 100% with your schedule. The teacher I had was so helpful and energetic. The job placements they provide is what sold me. They will provide you with different bars that are hiring and it is up to you of course to call them and get the job. This class is amazing! I have only completed two days of my 40 hour course so far and my knowledge of the service industry has increased drastically. This is one of the best bartending school's around! The first day they put you right behind the bar to get comfortable and get used to the basics: set up, speed rack layout, drink counts, breakdown etc. As the drinks get harder and harder, you get better and better because they build a foundation right off the bat. Tasha is an amazing teacher. She always answers your questions and gives great advice in regards to the practical world, along with making a resume, interviewing, and customer relations and how to handle certain situations. Overall, it was a great class, great learning experience, and I cannot wait to take what I learned over these two weeks and put them to use. I singed up for a 40 hour class for every Saturday and Sunday in May and only had two classes and they still gave me my certificate when I did not learn for what I had paid for. I was not comfortable in the class when the instructor Danny asked everyone what their favorite bar was and I stated mine was in Nyack where my Boyfriend goes to school and made the comment "OH so you only drink on your boyfriends time" Again another comment was made when I had to sit on my knees to see and said "Ugh I don't want to get on my knees" and the instructor responded "That's not what you said to me last night" Just goes to show how unprofessional, inappropriate and rude they are. I wasted $400 on this class when I should have gone to another place. I do not recommend this place AT ALL!! read more

1800 Bartending is the best school for Bar tending!!! We went into this class knowing nothing about bar tending and when I say nothing I mean nothing. After our first day alone, we walked home knowing how to make an entire page of martinis. Great bartending school! I have learned so much from this school than I thought I would learn, and I am not even done with the program yet. I am interested in bartending as a part time-job (Something I could do for private events) and that has been my focus since I signed up. However, at this school, they prepare you for any environment that you could ever work at. I really like the methods and tricks that are thought during the lessons (Specially to remember what goes on each drink). The instructor Denny Hollywood (I hope I am spelling it right) is great. I recently finished taking the two week course with Edward Favilla in Farmingdale, NY and all i can say is wow!!! I wasn't expecting to learn so much in this two weeks time, but I did. At first I thought to myself that I could never remember every drink in this short amount of time; but Ed did such a great job teaching the class patiently and made sure that everyone in the class knew all the drinks. Don't think you can become a bartender with no training or experience. This class give you the opportunity to pursue your goal in becoming a professional bartender. I just finished taking the morning class at 1800-BARTEND with Ed. He is truly an amazing teacher and I learned more than I ever thought I would in this class. The first day I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I had to learn in 2 weeks, but Ed drilled it into us every morning and now it's like knowing the colors of the rainbow. It's just there in your head. He also taught us his personal recipes and advice from his life as a bartender to help us succeed. We made drink after drink in class, perfecting our counts and pours. Bartending school was one of the best decisions I ever made. This place offers a good education and the knowledge that you need to know as a bartender. I just took the 16 hour PE class this weekend and let me tell you, it was FABULOUS! Stephanie was a great teacher. We learned basics, such as trendy martinis and several different shots, as well as our pours. The class was so much fun, I signed up for the 40 hour course on the spot! Don't be fooled by friends who say "oh, you don't need to take a bar tending class to become a bartender." That's completely untrue; I would never want to go behind a bar without knowing the basics...unless you want to make a Long Island Iced tea that tastes like garbage. A++! This place is awesome all around. They offer multiple courses but the main 2 are the 16 hour and the 40 hour course. I took the 16 hour course they offer to see if I would like it. I then enrolled in the 40 hour course, it's a lot of fun! If you enjoy making money while having a blast, Dave and Danny will show you how to do that. They are both extremely friendly and unbelievably passionate about their craft. They told me exactly what I needed to know, and showed me the proper way of doing everything. I took this bartending class to get a leg up in the hospitality business. I also thought it would be a nice way to earn some extra money. My instructor Ed is the best teacher I've ever had. He's repetitive which is good because normally I'm not the greatest at school but his techniques to remember things will forever be stuck in my head. He makes the class fun and he takes the time to show you how to make a drink correctly if you're not getting it right away. I would recommend this class to anyone I know.
