Dropped my 2017 Kymco for a full service. He called me and said the variator belt needs to be replaced. I said to go ahead. Picked up the scooter after service. While driving back home, felt like scooter doesn't have power. When moving from the stop light, took a while to even move that too after me giving a little push with legs. In the roundabout before I even pass the round, the other vehicle on the right was already approaching. Called him striaght away and he said to bring it back next day. In some of the little uphill areas where I commute everyday, I had to push the scooter. Took it back and he removed the air filter cover and did some adjustment, he did a test drive, and then looked at the belt, found that he put the wrong sized belt and it was rubbing against the wall. Replaced it with a not known brand of correct size belt. Didn't even apologize for putting my life on risk for 2 days on the road. Kept on blaming other people. First blamed on me saying I called the next day after picking up the scooter. Showed him the call log that I called the same day of picking it up. Then blamed on the supplier for giving the wrong size belt. Then blamed his son for installing it without looking. The belt clearly has the size printed on it, he should have just compared it with the old belt. Took back the scooter, felt better but still lacks little power. Went and told him the same, and I'll see how it goes. 2 days later it went worse and stopped at a little uphill. Fortunately I was closer to his place, went straight to him, and the air filter cover was not fitted properly and it went hanging. Did some adjustment (He said made more fuel to flow into.) and fitted the cover and it improved but still lacking power. Told him the same, he asked to drive for few days and see how it goes. Since it was still lacking power went back and asked him to just do a test drive and see. But he is hesitant to do and asking me to bring back the old belt, he will replace it and don't come back after that. How rude! Though it was his fault previously and putting my life on risk on the road for few days, I was still patient and just requesting him to check it. Not at all demanding anything. Might be a carburettor adjustment or something like that, but his response shows what a mechanic he was.
His experience has given me too much stress. read more
