It was closed, but I made a mental note. Normally, I shop online, hunt for deals, and can wait for supplies. But when I wanted to try out some high-end oil pastels right away, I struck out at big box stores and stopped by id art on a whim, with no big expectations. I was blown away. The place is jam-packed floor to ceiling with everything from student supplies to professional-grade paints, oils, pastels, crayons, brushes, and canvases you just don't find elsewhere. Yes, some prices are higher--as with most independents--but the selection is second to none. Best of all, the staff are real artists who know their stuff and genuinely care about getting you what you need. That mattered to me--I don't want to waste time searching when I'm ready to work. That day, I walked out with exactly what I was looking for, fast and easy. Since then, every return trip has been just as good. Check it out--it's worth knowing this place is here when you really need something.

Anwar, Vladimir and the entire staff there are always super helpful and always seem to bring out the best in the pieces we bring to them, large, medium or small, regardless of what the actual piece cost us to purchase. We recently ran into a problem at home. Whenever we travel, we like to purchase a local artists work from places we visit or enlarge photos we've taken to get them framed and put up on a gallery wall in our dining room. The problem is, or I should say was, that we had run out of space and did not know what to do with a painting we bought in Tuscany, and another we bought in Positano. When we took them in after all these years we learned something new: Art Express makes house calls! Today, they came over to our home, reviewed the wall, our pieces and the two new ones from Italy, and rearranged our wall so that everything fits AT NO COST to us. This is a service that they provide to their customers. And the icing on the cake is that everything now seems to flow beautifully on the wall. Art Express is truly amazing!!! If you've got something to frame or re-frame, you won't go wrong by bringing it to Art Express and letting them take care of it for you. We won't take anything of ours to anyone except Art Express....they are great.

Immediately upon entering the store, I was assisted with making a choice. The shop salesperson looked at the piece, asked what my style was and pulled down some sample frames. Having lived in Miami for over 40 years, I was skeptical that it would be ready within the time frame. It ended up being ready before the hour was up. The frame and piece look spectacular. All local artists, all small affordable pieces, and all showcased Miami from the perspective of people who actually live here. I got to speak to a couple of the artists about their work, which was not only fun but also inspiring. Their perspectives really shape the art even further. Luis "STYLE" Berros was one of them. His pencil on canvas was a depiction of a regular evening in Miami, sitting around the table playing a game of cards. Another standout was Philippe Gornail, a young artist who made a beautiful Miami sunset out of a Miami staple, lottery tickets. He took his time to tell us his inspiration and story. The gallery also had a DJ spinning vinyl tunes and had the place feeling like an old school house party. They sold drinks that weren't overpriced, as well as T-shirts they were literally screen-printing as the night progressed. All in all, the experience was a great Miami night. The employees recommended the BabyArc car seat that was on display. I loved the colors and even did a quick search for its safety ratings, which looked great, so I purchased it based on their recommendation and assurance that it rotated. Fast forward to now, when it's finally time to install the seat, I carefully read the manual and discovered that the car seat does NOT rotate as I was promised. I immediately called the store to explain the situation, but instead of trying to make things right, I was told that because I received a discount, the sale was final and no refunds or exchanges would be allowed. I understand stores have policies, but this was not a case of buyer's remorse, it was a purchase made based on incorrect information provided by their staff. It does indeed have a Cuban flavour! Some of the items aren't too cheap - a couple of the employees didn't seem to like us being in there considering the way we were dressed and how oily I was - but generally speaking I would say this is a pretty cool and different little baby store and I appreciate it.

Long story short: They damaged my posters requiring me to have them professionally…read morerestored and only offered me a partial refund (minus the sales tax, which is illegal) only after I asked for a full one. Picture shows the worst poster but all 3 have to be professionally evaluated to even see if they can be salvaged. I brought in 3 very large vintage, Italian movie posters about 39" x 55" to find out what options they had for mounting temporarily on some kind of backing to help store them more safely and press out some of the creases as they had been folded while in storage. I was given the option of pressing and mounting them to a foam board backing product called "KoolTak," and was told by two employees that it was temporary and removable so that they could possibly be fully restored elsewhere in the future. After about 2 years of sitting in climate controlled storage, the temperature never going above 75°, all the posters bubbled up from the backing and many of the creases from the folds raised off the board and puffed out and wrinkled. I took them back to see what could be done and left them for the owner to look at and decide what to do. I also asked for a quote to remove them from the foam board backing because I was going to list them online and would need to roll them for shipping and whoever purchases them may want to have them fully restored. No one contacted me about what options there were to correct the issues, or to give me a quote for removal. They took it upon themselves to simply repress the posters and try to smooth out the bubbles and creases, then called me to come pick them up. When I arrived, they didn't look much better, and they said that's the best they could do. When I asked about the quote for removal, they told me that they cannot be removed, and that the posters are now permanently mounted to the board...I was absolutely shocked. I would have NEVER done this if I had any concern whatsoever that they would be PERMANENTLY GLUED to these boards, and glued to them with bubbles and raised creases. I stood there in disbelief and listened to their apologies, the employees, not the owner, as he has never once bothered to contact me. They also informed me they will no longer be offering this service, but too late for me. I was extremely upset and left, and after contacting a restoration company to get an idea of the cost, I called Dadeland Framing back to ask for a full refund and after the employee spoke to the owner, they called me back to say he was only willing to give me a partial refund minus sales tax. His reasoning was that it had been two years and that I may not have stored them properly causing the bubbles, which is understandable, even though I did. But, I was not asking for a refund only because of the bubbles, but because I now have to incur the expense of shipping them to a professional restoration company to attempt to remove them from the foam board backing. I told them to keep their partial refund and they'd never get my business again.
