I first noticed the id art supply name years ago at an outdoor show, then recently stumbled across the actual store--tucked into a plain plaza on 79th Street near Biscayne, not exactly an "artsy" neighborhood. It was closed, but I made a mental note. Normally, I shop online, hunt for deals, and can wait for supplies. But when I wanted to try out some high-end oil pastels right away, I struck out at big box stores and stopped by id art on a whim, with no big expectations. I was blown away. The place is jam-packed floor to ceiling with everything from student supplies to professional-grade paints, oils, pastels, crayons, brushes, and canvases you just don't find elsewhere. Yes, some prices are higher--as with most independents--but the selection is second to none. Best of all, the staff are real artists who know their stuff and genuinely care about getting you what you need. That mattered to me--I don't want to waste time searching when I'm ready to work. That day, I walked out with exactly what I was looking for, fast and easy. Since then, every return trip has been just as good. Check it out--it's worth knowing this place is here when you really need something. read more

My go to art store... they have a wide range of materials. An extensive inventory of multiple spraypaint brands and accessories. As well as a huge selection of canvases. If they don't have the size ur looking for they can build it. The staff is friendly and always polite. When they have sales it's always at great discounts. Their regular prices are always reasonable. read more

Very good selection of various materials. Enjoy the place. A bit pricey but definitely reccomend. Workers are nice.

Such nice people and a great selection of art supplies! I get frames there and also paint. They give a small discount for artists/students. They are conveniently located and pricing is also great. read more

Beautiful art pieces, also got a piece framed. Would definitely recommend this place! My Quote was about 2/3 of the quotes from Wynwood. Just a trendy area to go, this is outside of the main hub in brickell and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else read more

Miami's home-grown art supply store. It's smaller than Pearl and some other stores, but this local chain is really my favorite for several reasons: - Personal and knowledgeable assistance & service - Good variety of art supplies despite the small store size - Good prices - Student discounts - Art Classes - Stretched Canvas - Custom canvas - LOCAL (popular with art students in Wynwood, South Beach and Miami's Biscayne Blvd) And their delivery options are pretty good as well: - Free delivery on orders over $150 - Mondays: free shipping all day - $20 flat rate Downtown / South Beach - Deliver oversize stretched art works read more

Before you waste your time doing anything framing related at this shop.... Save yourself the headache and go over to "I've Been Framed" instead: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ive-been-framed-miami The prices I was quoted were outrageous at ID Art Supply. When I finally found something affordable and placed the order, I had to call back after 5 days because I hadn't heard anything. Even after a week, they hadn't bothered to send the piece to the framer (they don't do it on site). I had already paid them for the work and had to go out of my way to get reimbursed since they couldn't do the job in a timely fashion. When I asked to speak to the manager, he couldn't even bother to return my call. I shouldn't have been surprised since every time I walk into the shop the staff seem to be all hiding or hanging out in the back. Zero customer service. One of my worst shopping experiences in all of my three years in Miami. "I've Been Framed" however is a delight. I would highly recommend. If traveling is an issue, go with Framdrige....http://frambridge.com/. They pay for all the shipping and have very affordable prices. read more

By far the worst shopping experience in my life. It was a saturday when I came to buy my first kit to start painting, i needed advice and the girl didn't help me at all. I asked her what kind of paint should I need to start, her answer was " we have acrylic, water color and oil, what do you want?" That's why I am here for, advices and passionate people. Otherwise I can order on amazon. So I asked her what do you recommend for beginner? "It s up to the artist was the answer". Her show was the same over and over for brush, canvas, accessories. I always had to ask her : what should I buy to start?! But I felt like she didn't want to work, or maybe It was too much effort for her to explain new customers. I spent around 450 usd for my first time, no thank you, no discount, not even a smile. After that I compared their tags they are over price compare to other location in miami area. I do not recommend at all. You should all go to the other store located near winwood. read more

Good selection of paints. Good selection of canvases in various sizes from the small to the big mamma jamma ones. Aisles are clean and organized. Came in here looking for a table top easel. They have table top easels of various kinds, but only if I order from their catalog. *sigh* I suppose they can only keep so much in stock or on the floor given the size of the location. Other than this minor glitch I experienced this is a good place for your canvas, paint or stencil needs. read more

My fiance and I decided to make a painting for our living room instead of purchasing one which would obviously be super expensive and we most likely would not be as passionate about buying something that someone else made. Why not make your own, right? So we went into this store to pick up our supplies...$350 later I think we got everything that we'll need to make a great piece of art. The person working at the store was friendly and tried to help us find everything that we needed. The music was amazing as they were playing Air & The knife which really helped me set into the artistic mood. They have a good enough supply of everything from the cheaper to high end utensils. We bought a super cheap easel for like $40 too. We will be back now that I read there is a student discount. I wish she would have asked me if I was a student! The only negative is it was super hard for us to find parking here. They have a garage all the way in the back of the building and the art store can validate your parking so it's like $1 but I called to ask about parking and she couldn't understand me for some reason. Anyways, we will be back. read more

SO far I have been there twice. The selection is great. As soon as you walk in you can smell all the paints, mediums and canvas'. Which, made me feel like I was in heaven! If you scour around you will find some good deals. I am a novice and just wanted to pick up some essentials. LUCKY for me, all the canvasas were marked down! This meant no stress if my painting came out like chewbacca, (luckily it did not)! :) The staff are knowledgeable, but you have to get their attention. They did try to point me in the direction of some higher priced items, but I reiterated that I didn't really know what I was doing and wasn't ready to buy high end stuff. All in all, it's a great little place, I can't wait to go back! FYI students discount=10% teachers discount=20% What's NOT to love about that!. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because they need a range of prices in easels... we can't all cop out $350.00 for a basic easel. read more

A good basic art supply store for people looking for drawing/drafting/painting supplies. It's not the place for fancy gift kit or designer books kinda stuff or more exotic supplies like textile arts or metal working. It's small, but you can find between 3 and 4 brands of whatever you're looking for. Prices are standard. They have an in-house brand of supplies that are pretty cheap; perfect for doing studies or tests before a final piece. (I've updated the business info, but it needs mod approval so fyi it's located at 1470 Biscayne Blvd.) read more

All I can say about this place is there is plenty of parking, knowledgeable staff and they basically have everything you can ever need for art. and if they are out of stock or they don't have what you need they can easily order it for you. read more

I came into the store and I was welcomed however I didn't receive as much help as I would have liked. Short or staff and very busy location where customers are constantly walking in for one item or a frame work done. The staff can be helpful but they seem to look dazed because they cannot give you assistance for so long due to other people needs of assistance which leaves you wondering around the store looking clueless for minutes. I would suggest they hire more staff. I've wasted 30-45 out of my day with very little service ! read more

Very disappointed - bought xtra spray paint for client to choose and they wouldn't refund or give store credit ! OBVI wasn't used - they said it's on the receipt ! Don't get receipt until after paid for and in tiny font - they were snooty from the jump ! Go to win wood instead ! Don't know their policy for returns but I'm sure they at least have a sign ! read more

Had three posters framed at i.d. art and I would likely recommend them. They worked with me on style and on price, so I ended up with exactly what I wanted at a reasonable rate. Framing is always expensive, but I love the finished look my apartment has with framed art for some really nice posters I collected over the years. Huge fan and would definitely go back. read more

I absolutely love to paint, and living in downtown Miami, I would always have to make the long trek to Michaels ( about a 45 minute drive away from me in traffic) to get all my supplies. Thanks to Yelp, I discovered this hidden gem just a few blocks down the street from where I live! Excellent supply of paints and canvas. Also, with the yelp check in offer you get a free set of paintbrushes! My new favorite art supply store read more

I just left from my first visit to ID. I a always drove by because my school is nearby, but today I had a great first experience. I wasn't sure at first if they were open because of the holiday today, but I was glad they were running a normal schedule and I could get some supplies. The young lady Ingrid helped me very much with both what I needed to get as well as staying in my budget. Another worker was friendly enough to help me as well, great staff! Happy to know students get discounts! Will definitely go back! read more

I went to this store for the first time today. There was a spanish girl working at the store. Who was rather cold and rude, and was trying to correct my grammer when I asked who was the store owner. She then said you mean what his name is or something to that affect. She was really nice, I noticed to the white customers. I happen to be Afro-Cuban and I was thinking oh no. Not another indigenous spanish girl who actually thinks she is white. Anyways if she acts this way again, I will have to say something. read more

Using them for stretching some largish Aboriginal pieces. Excellent service, prices ok, would certainly recommend for this service. The inventory is quite impressive but that's not what I was there for. Ivan is a really customer oriented guy. He should do well. read more

I like going to ID Art but I'm not a huge fan. They offer a 10% discount for students (You show school ID, give a phone number and BAM, 10% discount every time) Also, they have VERY good sales on things (They have BOGO sales among other things), they also have very cheap pricing on otherwise expensive art equipment. I've visited ID Art everyday for drafting supplies. I love the employees there but sometimes I wish they knew more about the material and could do a little more to help me. Also, if you're going there to buy something, you MUST know your stuff, otherwise they'll try to rip you off or trick you into buying stuff that you don't need. Love ID but not crazy about it. read more

Was very disappointed. The new shop has been open for over a month and still has not been fully stocked. Prices are still not marked. Additionally, I am a UM student, which is apparently a red flag for them, as they followed me around the store obviously trying to prevent me from stealing. When it came time for me to pay they took an extremely long time to check me out and were quite rude. Aside from the convenient proximity to the UM campus, there are very few benefits to id Art. read more
