Walking the grounds
Stevi B.

I've been to Wine & Roses several times in the past for work meetings, but last month was the first time I actually had the opportunity to stay and check out the grounds. My coaches got me a gift certificate so I decided to use it for a one night staycation. Best decision I could have made! The grounds are just beautiful, so I took a few walks around throughout my stay, and also found a place to sit and read for a while. My room was next to the pool so I got to take advantage of the jacuzzi with ease as well. There are exotic birds in a few areas of the grounds that are really pretty (and quite chatty!) The staff was friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable and the stay was very enjoyable. I hope to have the opportunity to stay again!

I came back for my 3rd visit this year. And while I overall still had an amazing times. I definitely ran into some issues. 1. The booking system. I was told it can no longer keep my card on file. So I have to keep adding my info with each visit. Kind of an odd thing? 2. I was booked incorrectly. When I came in September I asked for another appointment with the same massage therapist (Thomas). The appointment was scheduled. But I never got a confirmation email. I ended up calling to confirm I had an appointment. And then when I came here over the weekend. My massage therapist wasn't Thomas. The massage therapist said it was booked as "Any male therapist" It was awkward. And not his fault. The therapist. Forgot his name but he was fantastic. Amazing experience. It was just disappointing to not get what I had originally wanted.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wine and Roses Hotel. I am not sure when they changed their name to Appellation but this was our second stay within the past year. The service is on point and extremely attentive. The grounds are absolutely beautiful all throughout the year. Private and tranquil adorned with fruit trees and foliage. The have a garden and the campus is quite extensive. We like to get the suites located near the spa so that when booking a spa appointment we don't have to walk far. The pool is a distance away but it too is tranquil and secluded. The spa is extraordinary and allows for couples massages and couples spa treatments and you are granted 2 hours to enjoy the spa premises if you book a service. The cafe is also quite scrumptious with fresh bread, pastries etc. and assorted drinks. We tried the restaurant our last visit and the service was outstanding but they were under construction so we will attempt to try it again once on our next visit. The environment makes you feel as though you have escaped the hustle and bustle by just taking a short drive to this oasis especially if you are from the Bay Area.

Wine and Roses is an amazing hotel that started as a bed and breakfast in Lodi. It has whimsy and charm during all seasons and their food is incredible! They work hard to bring in the local community for food or wine nights alongside their cafe that people stop by for fun on any given day. Their spa is an escape from the every day and is surrounded by beauty. We have stayed here and felt cared for from our check-in to our checkout. But the most incredible moment was having our wedding in their Garden Ballroom! This is a stunning venue for weddings and they are LGBTQIA+ friendly and really made us feel seen and welcomed. We felt valued as people and as customers. For us, it felt like they went above and beyond to take care of us all the way through our wedding day! Our Wedding Coordinator, Colleen, was a miracle worker through all of the ups and downs of event planning. She continued to support us and lift us up through each moment. We are beyond grateful for her guidance in making our vision and dream come true!

Used to love this place but not much to offer the customers. They have a tranquility room the fire place wasn't on so it didn't set a mood. They offer inside there hot tea ,granola , and fresh apples. There is a cold plunge that wasn't that cold and a hot tub and a firepit outside. They don't offer any wine or champagne or any appetizers only complimentary water to stay hydrated. However our masseuse was amazing they did a wonderful job!!! just know they only give you two hours there, after or before massage to enjoy the facility but even then that may seem long since not much to enjoy here. Nice clean showers!

I've come here a few times for weddings and for the spa, but this was my first time eating here at the restaurant. We came to celebrate a bridal shower and loved our set up as well as live music. We all ordered the pink dragon cocktail and loved it so much, we ordered a second round. I ordered the steak & eggs and my daughter got the waffles. To my surprise, the waffle from the kid's menu was like an adult portion. Not complaining at all because I knew I was gonna help her eat it anyway. The steak & eggs were delicious as well! Our waiter and waitress were amazing! I would definitely return to enjoy other things!

The newly rebranded Åppelation Wine and roses hotel is very conveniently located within the heart of Lodi wine county. This is one of the only lodging options in the direct vicinity. The gardens, event sites (wedding or event rooms/gardens), pool and fitness center are quite nice. There are even a few resident exotic birds that live on site. The hotel room itself is pleasantly appointed. The reason I give four stars instead of five is because the pillows are terribly uncomfortable (synthetic soft or lumpy options). Also because of the plantation shutters: while very beautiful, do not block out the light adequately. My advice if you're staying here is to bring your own pillow and maybe an eye mask. Our room had a lovely balcony with a 12 foot high bird of paradise and butterfly bush that offered security and great ambiance. The price is quite steep to stay here but we went on on off-day so more reasonable.

I went here to celebrate my birthday for brunch. I enjoyed 2 drinks and a steak and egg meal. The ambiance is nice and elegant. The yogurt they give with the banana nut bread was to die for. My birthday bread pudding was also so amazing.

My girlfriends and I make sure to pamper ourselves with brunch and a spa day, a couple of times per year at this establishment. After enjoying brunch in the morning, we head over to the spa to enjoy all the amenities prior to our scheduled services (massages/facials, etc.). There's a coffee shop onsite as well that you can enjoy. I highly recommend this place for couples, friends, or as a solo session. I always leave so relaxed.

We had ResortPass day ticket to the pool, checking in was very easy. Receptionist were super nice! She recommended that we book Dinner before we head to the pool which worked out amazing because the restaurant got super crowded after 6 pm. Pool was small very fun!! Really beautiful setup. Because of renovation they weren't taking orders at the pool but we just drove to cafe and brough our food at the pool. The restaurant was beyond amazing!!!! EXCELLENT Customer service! Dinner, drinks and wine was superb. Our server at the restaurant was the nicest lady I have ever met. My husband complained about chicken but she was so gracious and nice. Our toddler had an amazing time exploring the garden. Definitely coming back.

Great ambiance. Quiet and peaceful outdoors our nice and cozy seating inside. Service was fun. The Stone Fruit Parfait was OMG so good! and I happen to love Zucchini bread this place made a tasty one. Eggs Benedict was so good I didn't leave any for anyone else to try lol. Honorable mention to the French Martini it was so good I ordered another before I was done! HA! ((smile)) Respectfully Reviewed.

Steak & Eggs (Brunch Menu)

Came here for brunch with family to celebrate a special occasion, we had a reservation for about 20 people. While the atmosphere was beautiful, the food and service were really disappointing. A relative ordered the steak and eggs, which was listed at $24 on the menu, but we were shocked to see it charged as $36 on the bill. For that price, we expected a decent portion, but it came out with literally five tiny slices of steak.. honestly felt like a joke. Several of us got the eggs Benedict, and we weren't told it was vegetarian (no Canadian Bacon / meat). We had to ask for meat to be added to it. Unfortunately the yolk was cold and gelatinous by the time the meal arrived. Since it was a large group, plates came out in pairs, so some people got hot meals while others (like us) got lukewarm ones. Overall, really underwhelming and not worth the money. I absolutely will never return to this establishment.

There is no breakfast provided but the rooms have a full kitchen with necessary pot and silverware and a full size fridge with freezer. The room that my husband, our little girl and I stayed in was quite spacious with a large enough bathroom. I liked that there was Dove branded shower wash, shampoo and conditioner available in the shower stall (and also a Dove branded hand soap dispenser by the sink). The only thing I don't like about the bathroom is that the door closes automatically and would prefer not to have to reopen it every time I need to go into the bathroom (but that is minor and am sure others would not find this annoying). Service from employees that I have interacted with the employees here are friendly. There is a small gym on site that has a water dispenser available and disinfectant wipes made available. Outside on the back side of the hotel are grills with a nice covered seating area. There is a also a poop bag dispenser for those walking their pups. Overall, we had a comfortable stay and most likely will stay at this location again when staying in Lodi (which is pretty regularly).

I was trying to decide between staying here or back at the University Plaza Waterfront (I have…read morestayed there once before) near the Stockton Arena. After seeing the pictures here, I decided to cancel my reservation for the University Waterfront because this place seemed more secluded and they have the good brekkie, lol. The room I had was on the 1st floor, very convenient without having to wait for the elevator. It was clean and had no bed bugs that I could see, YAY for that alone! I was too afraid to try that ironing trick that's trending on TikTok and IG, so I didn't do it. If I can't see anything upon close inspection, I'll take it!! I woke up the next day feeling well rested and no bed bug bites, so double win there! Breakfast was good, but I think the pancake machine needs to be adjusted because the pancakes seemed a tad undercooked. They serve it daily from 6 to 9 am, so if you go towards the end, you likely will miss most of the good hot stuff. I didn't catch the bacon (if they had any), but I did get 1 sausage and left the other 2 behind. They still had 3 cheese egg omelets, but I didn't take one. Everything tasted great. The room was a comfortable size and the convenience of having the mini fridge and microwave always comes in handy. The bathtub was dated, but it serves its purpose. I like that they have Dove toiletries, including hand soap and lotion. I HATE those little bar soaps hotels usually have by the sink. I bring my own foaming hand soap but didn't have to this time. They also have a fitness center, laundry facilities and a swimming pool and jacuzzi. Parking is free, and there is plenty of it. Service was also great as Manuel took good care of me when I called in a few days ahead to see if I could check in earlier than the usual 3pm standard check in time. I didn't see him when I checked in, but I met him checking out. Cool guy, cool vibes, and I told him I would tell people to stay here, lol. The other 2 ladies I encountered the day I checked in were super nice as well. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express in Lodi if you're looking for a place to stay in the area. It's near shops and restaurants and didn't seem ghetto to me. It's like a level above Stockton area (or so I was told by a friend). I told Manuel I'd be back one day, so tune in for my next check in.. til then, don't take my Duchess title away, lol!

This is a home from 1905 so it is an older house and therefore it is not perfect, has some creeks and groans, and the back kitchen door doesn't quite open right, little things like that. But, if you can get past that, it's quite an experience! The various decorations and antiques really make this an unusual and attractive place to stay. Add to that, Jane was our hostess, and she was great and made sure we knew everything we needed to know. We had one of the upstairs rooms which had a bathroom that you shared with another guest, but that other room was not rented those nights, so we pretty much had the upstairs to ourselves, which was nice. Other great things about staying here include: there is a complete kitchen that you have access to so you can put things in the fridge, you can use utensils and plates, There's a microwave and a gas range for cooking and there was free bottled water and coffees and teas available. We also enjoyed sitting out on the front deck and having our green tea in the mornings It is also centrally located and in a beautiful neighborhood. Additionally, it is completely surrounded by a fence so we were able to let the dog just roam around and all we had to do was of course pick up after her, but make sure nobody was going in or out of the gate in the front. She really enjoyed the freedom of being out in the yards. We really hope others take advantage of this unique place to stay! I was looking forward to a relaxing hot, or at least warm shower. The water ran for several minutes without getting any hotter even though it was turned all the way to the hottest setting. This place isn't that big. They should have plenty of hot water for all of the rooms. I've stayed at huge hotels in Las Vegas and the water got HOT. There's no excuse for this. The tub was also dirty/stained and the towels are a dingy white. We've only been here one night with one more night to go. If I didn't book via Southwest Hotels using points, I would be down stairs trying to get some sort of refund back and I would also leave and go stay in a different hotel. Another thing, all the power went off last night about 10pm as we were arriving back. It didn't come back on until this morning. I woke up at 6:11am to lights on in our room. This probably wasn't their fault as the power was off on entire street on both sides. Just giving a heads up to anyone who might want to stay here as I don't know how often this is an issue. EDIT: my husband just brought up a good point... the power was out for 8 hours so most likely this was a PLANNED power outage to do work around here. If that's the case, the hotel would have known about it and should have said such when we checked in. We are going down to talk to the front desk about it now. EDIT #2: we talked to the front desk... The girl admitted that it WAS a planned outage. Very unethical to not tell your patrons and continue taking their money to stay there knowing this was the case. The girl said she would have a manager call us. She also claimed it would not happen again. We were so miffed and didn't want to take the chance that we ended up leaving and renting a room elsewhere. I have since put it a claim with Southwest to get my points back and to not vouch for this place. By the way; I NEVER received a call from anyone at Best Western to try and rectify the issue.
