Kai Kee has the most delicious fishball, rice noodle, siu mai drenched in mixed sauce. I've yet to try their chicken wings but I heard good things about those too. So please do yourself a favor and try their small snacks when you come here! But of course, their desserts deserve some of the spotlight. They are well known for their huge grass jelly bowls topped with mixed fruits. I love grass jelly but not so much melons. I absolutely love their mango pomelo, durian/mango pancakes, and chocolate lava cakes. I never noticed they also sell cake until recently - and they're not basic cakes either. The one I wanted to try was rose cheesecake but they ran out. I can't wait till I get to eat their stuff again!

The consolation prize for me probably is the ice cream. One of the novelties has to be the liquid nitrogen frozen ice-cream. I am an arts student so if you ask me what that means, I will proudly say I HAVE NO IDEA. But it is new, it is ice cream and it is tasty. The first time I saw Lab Made was when I was at Knutsford Terrace. Over fifty people were standing outside the 'laboratory' eagerly awaiting for their end product from the 'experiement'. Therefore, I was very excited to see it now has a branch in Tuen Mun and it has much fewer people. It is said that the ice cream is frozen in less than two minutes, and the best part is you can see this happen. With the icy mist emitting from the machine, you will be just as excited without even tasting it. As for the taste, its flavor is definitely stronger and smoother as well. The price is around HKD$30 to HKD50. Science is definitely not cheap. So if you are looking forward to going into the state of the art icy cream factory, come to the one at TMTP, it literally takes less than a minute to get your order ready!

Don't let the giant queue scare you, and yes there is almost always a queue. Despite that, it moves fairly fast. Its definitely not a place where you sit and chat with your friends. They expect you to sit down, order right away, eat it, and leave right away. But I guess many popular places are like that around Hong Kong.. Seating-wise its very cramp here. You'll be sitting basically elbow to elbow with strangers next and behind you. But that doesn't matter because their desserts are so wonderful! Some of my favorites are the tong yuen (glutinous rice balls) that come come with peanut sauce. The one that comes in the ginger soup is good too (for this dish, the balls have fillings inside, such as sesame or peanut sauce). Another good one is their sorbets, which are perfect for a hot day.

Heyyyy, do you like durian? Or even want to give it a shot despite the crazy smell it may emit or…read morethe odd taste it might exude? I believe one of the ways to try durian without having to be afraid of it is by tasting it through the various dessert dishes here at this cute little place. Having no idea that this place existed, I was pretty thankful to my new local friend who suggested this place. It's located in a small little street, similar to an alley way, and by the time you get near it, you'll definitely see a long line of people waiting to get in. The wait itself isn't that bad. Most people just come here to eat dessert and leave right after. Once seated, my friends and I spent some time browsing through the extensive dessert menu and settled on trying the durian with crystal seeds (one of the many popular dishes) and watermelon and lychee with crystal seeds. In summary, the watermelon and lychee were ok. The watermelon ended up being too watery for my taste and the lychee wasn't too memorable. Both tasted decent but definitely not a must try. For the durian, this was surprisingly good! I am normally not a durian fan (the stench gets to me sometime) but here, you couldn't really smell too much of the durian in the dish. The taste of durian was also soften quite a bit, making this dish a bit more doable for those who do not like durian. I found this dish to be pretty tasty and not too sweet and it was unique to eat it with the crystal seeds. Overall, this is a great spot to stop by for desserts. If you're not a fan of durian but can tolerate the smell of it wafting through the restaurant, this place is great to try other HK desserts at an affordable price.

First off, I would like to say that Hong Kong does not have enough good quality dessert places…read more(that are not crazy expensive). Instead, you can see Honeymoon Dessert everywhere you go. I do not know how many exactly they have but I am sure you will agree with me on this. Hong Kong people have a reputation not to go home that early (especially when it is weekend the following day), so most people prefer spending some time in a dessert place. Therefore, often you may see people lining up around 9 outside the shops. Honestly speaking, I am not a big fan of Honeymoon Dessert but I certainly cannot live without it. Mainly because my friends and I really do want to spend more time together and this place seems to be an easy choice. They offer a wide range of desserts including Chinese sweet soup or western ones with or without ice cream. However I have to say that most are stored in a fridge for god knows when and it is pretty apparent that they are not going to change that. So yup, you will be spending HKD$30 dollars on something that is put inside a cooler for a few hours. As for other desserts like pancakes and stuff, I do have to say that if you can stand the durian smell, you will like the durian pancakes. They are rather refreshing and not as boring as mango pancakes. But I still have to say that those pancakes are FAIRLY small. So be warned. But what I can say? We simply have too many people in Hong Kong and not little dessert shops.

It is known for having awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand which piqued my interest as I seek quality tongsui aka sweet dessert soups that remind me of my childhood days. The shop is small and crowded with all others who enjoy tongsui and the line moves fast despite the wait. You can order via a QR code at the table or with staff. The menu is simple and they've got most of the must-haves at dessert shops. They have a minimum spend per person if you are dining in, so beware if your group has a person who doesn't do sweet soups. The worst thing (or best thing) that could happen is you eat one for them. The tongsui we ordered were all very basic and while they were delicious, I couldn't tell if they were better or higher quality ingredients compared to other shops across Hong Kong. If I were to be in the area and wanting tongsui, then sure why not. But I am unsure if I would purposely take the train and walk here.
