I remember liking the place, but was only ever here for drinks. I guess forgetting about this place has a lot has to do with the restaurants location, being nowhere close to anywhere I usually frequent. Recently wanted to eat something in Price Edward because I rarely ever go there, and I found this old friend on Yelp! Came here on a Saturday afternoon, and was surprised how packed this place was. Even though we arrived at a time after the usual lunch rush (around 2pm) we still had to wait a good 30 mins. I really like the decor in this place. The restaurant is plastered with travel-theme everywhere. Such as posters, items, and souvenirs all around. I wonder if the owner actually collected all these items on their travel? Anyway, its very cool to see a little part of the world every corner you look. In the middle of the restaurant there's also a mini stage, which I guess musicians perform at on certain days. On the corner seats, there's a big tv showing videos of the performers. Overall, the vibe of this restaurant is very nice. For the food, they have a decent variety of western food available. We ended up trying the cheese shrimp pasta and the chicken yogurt pita sandwich. We ordered these because its a little different than another typical western restaurant. The pasta was pretty good! Not overly cheesy. But I was disappointed with the pita. The sandwich was just way too bland, and the mini salad that came with it was also bland. Both meals were lunch sets which included a drink and bread + soup. The bread and soup were both decent. Although Alchemist Cafe is a little out of the way for me normally, I think I will return some more in the future to try some of their other dishes.

The Dirty, after this trip to HK, has become one of my favorite espresso drinks and I'm happy that I'm still able to find new things in this tiny little city. Perfect blend of warm espresso and then tickles of cool whole milk sinking in underneath. So good! Ming Yuen Noodle Restaurant in Hong Kong…read more.. My friend, Paul C., highly recommended this noodle shop to me. It was very convenient to dine here after shopping at Ladies Market. The place was quite crowded and busy. Decor is minimal with a quiet businesslike ambiance. The goal here is to get a quick bite and move onto the next task. No chit chatting observed. I was temporarily baffled by the Chinese menus... even the posted menus on the wall are in Chinese - shucks. Luckily, my friend is fluent and she was able to communicate effortlessly. I told her what i wanted and it arrived! Wonton min was simple and straightforward. I enjoyed the shrimps in each dumpling and the thin, firm Hong Kong style noodles. Yum! My friend ordered a side dish of Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli) which was fresh and crisp with a subtle hint of garlic! Mmm! If I was in the area again, I'd come back for more noodles. Even on a warm September afternoon, comfort food is delicious happiness!

Consensus won and my cousin expressed the craving for Hong Kong style beef stew noodles. We walked a couple of blocks until we reached Ming Yuen Noodles Restaurant (MYNR), a Hong Kong style eatery where you can grab a quick meal. They offer of course noodles, rice, rice soup and assorted side dishes. MYNR is well staffed where you saw them running back and forth serving customers. We were seated immediately and our waitress took our orders. To my surprise, she was customer service oriented. For example, 2 guys wanted beers. When we ordered them, she informed us the price of HK$50 per can, which is costly. We appreciated her telling us the cost and we cancelled the beer. Most of the group members were hungry so we each ordered our own bowls of noodles and shared sides of fried fish skin and shrimp won tons. Our food came out in about 5 minutes. I was very happy with my bowl of beef brisket and beef tendon noodles. They were tender and flavorful. The group members commented their bowls were tasty and pretty much everyone cleaned their bowls. I didn't have the courage to try the beef lung or tripe again. Earlier in the trip I tried some and it wasn't prepared well, which scarred me. I sampled the fish skin. It was fried to a crisp but lacked in flavor. The won tons were generously stuffed with shrimp and pork. I found the flavor average, nothing to write home about. Because I was really thirsty, I ordered milk tea. It was refreshing and very good. I finished my glass and ordered a second one. I really liked the staff here. Very bubbly and outgoing personality. Also they were informative and responsible. During our time here the restaurant was packed. Between the 6 of us our bill came out to HK$390 (US$50). Another very satisfying and reasonable meal. If you're shopping in the Ladies' Market and want to grab a bite without denting your wallet, make your way over to MYNR for authentic Hong Kong style noodles. NOTE: They also have menus in English.

Karena Cafe is located inside Mikiki, a small (compared to others in HK!) Japanese-themed shopping mall. There's no MTR station nearby, but a huge mess of bus networks. 3. Mikiki has a Japanese supermarket on the lower floor with a good selection of beer. If you buy booze, the waiters at Karena (limited English but well-intentioned) will open bottles and provide glasses! 4. The 3D latte art takes a long time. Granted, we ordered 11 cups all at once (heh heh), but the last cup didn't arrive until 40 minutes after the first one did. The price is high, the coffee itself is OK, and having a bright green cartoon character sitting on top of your drink while you sip away its existence is a little creepy. Still, I came here with ten other girls this past January, and we had a blast gushing over this strange new Japanese coffee trend.
