Had a bowl of exceptional kimchi, green spinach with Black mushrooms and fresh Bonito flakes and a chirashi sashimi (sashimi don). Fish was fresh with one large prawn which tasted slightly borderline. The huge fish eggs (roe) was fabulous. Miso+rice were quality. Kind and polite service, spotless place and nice washrooms. As for the food, the buffet consists of many Japanese cuisines, with however much sashimi, shabu shabu, sukiyaki, nimono, vegetables... you want. None of the items are "the best", but they definitely are of quality. Out of all the items, I like the different kinds of hot pots the most. They come with meat, veggies, and a nice broth -- and there are so many kinds to choose from! Usually you only get one flavour at any Japanese hot pot place, but you can sample many kinds here without stuffing yourself too quickly. On top of the buffet, you also get to choose a maindish. That is, if you didn't get too full already. We had a choice of wagyu and foie gras amongst other dishes. We came here on Christmas day, and they also gave us unlimited prosecco and sake. Coming here is definitely a treat, especially on a holiday.

Everything was presented well, but nothing tasted that great for the price. Portion sizes are quite large so don't over order! They have very large expansive menu which is unlike most restaurants in japan where each restaurant focuses on one type of cuisine. This one tries to do it all and they do everything decent enough just not great. For the price, I do feel there are probably better options in this culinary-loving city, but if you're entertaining guests or feeling indecisive and want lots of options for comfortable Japanese food, Sagano's a good choice. We had a reservation here but it didn't look to busy the night we dined here. They were easily able to accommodate a party of 8+

It's definitely a place for a business lunch or whoever you need to impress because it's a classy place - of course, in the Island Shangri-La. But I felt like I paid for the location and the ambiance more than the actual food, which I am generally not a fan of. The food tasted good, but the value wasn't that good. We're talking about almost $500 (~$60 usd) for a lunch set so it'd better be amazing and unforgettable, right? The sashimi was fresh, but nothing too special. It's good they gave us fresh wasabi, but for this type of place it's pretty much a standard. Their rolled beef slices stuffed with vegetables were delicious but a bit underseasoned. Codfish was good but nothing stood out. Same for the fried rice. It's just when food was put in a cute, small container, and served in a fancy environment, they'll trick our brains to think they taste better, but when I thought about the actual taste, it wasn't anything special. It's cool to see the chef cooking in front of us on the teppan, but he wasn't too friendly and mostly just did his own thing and cook in silence the whole time... The staff didn't check on us regularly. It wasn't easy to track a server down. I'd say overall the food was good but nothing so special that you couldn't find in another Japanese restaurant in HK; and there are so many of them. It's cool we came here for a nice brunch for a special occasion, but I'd be hesitant to come back again especially for the kaiseki - it's a big commitment!

The food is always well-prepared and the service is excellent. It's just a really reliable spot for a good meal. Definitely book a table for lunch, though, as it gets pretty busy. Overall, our server was great--super attentive with refilling tea and helping us with the menu. The ambiance, too, was nice; you have the choice of the bar, regular table, or tatami table. For the price of the meal, I had a higher expectation of the quality of the dish. Don't get me wrong, the fish was fresh and everything came promptly, but for almost 600 HKD, I just had different expectations coming in. Overall, this was a good restaurant experience, but nothing special.

The restaurant is tiny, located in the corner of the Regal Hotel (1/F), totally unexpected but will surprise you at how good it is. The food is consistently good and the restaurant is always packed. Their lunch specials are decently priced for this part of town where Japanese food usually costs around $200 HKD for ok places and over $300-500+ HKD for fancier and more elaborate places. There are only a few choices (~5 and a daily special) preset lunch choices that come with pickled veggies, main, side (usually soup or udon), tea and coffee at the end of your meal. My favorite is either the grilled fish or BBQ chicken skewers w/rice (particularly for the chicken meatball/sausage skewer). Always ask what the special of the day is and if you are lucky, it will be negi toro donburi day. You can also order a la carte (they do all sorts of skewers), but I recommend you stick to the lunch specials. At the end of your meal, you can choose iced or hot coffee, and make sure you try the creamy milk they serve with it - it really makes the coffee so decadent. I love all of the staff here, they are just so nice! The service here is always amazing; they are so kind, accommodating and funny. The food comes out fast and you are always attended to. They also make it easy when you pay in groups, somehow they remember what everyone ordered and can give each person their individual totals. But try not to come in a big group, the restaurant is pretty tiny. I would say four is the max. I only wish there was more ventilation because depending on where you sit, the grilling may make you smell a little BBQ-y when you leave. Highly recommended and my friends and I agree that someday when we don't live in HK, we will miss this place. The food and service are both soooo good.

Since it was my first time visiting the store, I decided to give their food a shot. I ordered their vegetarian pasta dish, garlic bread, and their matcha cheesecake as dessert. The pasta dish was trash, no flavor and the sauce was too watery. My favorite was actually the garlic bread and matcha cheesecake. Besides the food, the store is beautifully arranged and decorated. I've never seen such a huge Muji store in the states and I was instantly hooked as to how much more they have here. I really enjoyed their book, food, and plants section. Their food section had so much packaged food that it was hard to choose from. I wasn't sure what to choose or how to choose the many options they had. I also really enjoyed visiting their stationary section of the store. I believe there was more products at this flagship location compared to any Muji I've been to; only been to 1 besides this store. I only wish that the Muji in LA had the same options and space as this flagship location. I would definitely visit this place as a study or work spot and I'm sure college students would appreciate the vibe and food; not at boba spots or Starbucks either.
