Last call is 2:30 and we got there around 2pm on a Sunday. We had wait a little for the bar to clear up. It's a very small restaurant with only maybe capacity for 20 people or so. We ordered a sashimi lunch set and a tempura set and man it was such a great deal! My sashimi set includes almost 10 pieces of assorted fish like yellowtail, maguro, salmon, imitation crab (don't care), but hey they put amaebi and toro on my plate too and that was quite a nice surprise! Not only the sashimi was plentiful and amazing, my set also came with the steamed egg, miso soup and some pickled vegetables! The tempura was pretty good too and I liked the fried fish, very flavorful and tender! The sashimi set cost around $220 and the tempura a little less than $200. The prices are reasonable for the portions and the quality! Very great deal! Just come here earlier and be prepared to wait.

Boyfriend and I wanted to have a more pricey dinner so we are on vacation…read more This is a really cute, small restaurant. They closed at 10:30pm and we showed up at about 8:30pm. One of the waitress approached us and apologized that they were busy and no seats available. She walked around and came back to tell us that there should be seating at 9pm, and so we told her, "no problem, we will be back then." We walked around the block and went to the mall to kill time. When we got back about 8:50pm, we waited another 15 minutes, which was fine. We could tell it was busy and every seat in the place was taken (they had group celebrating a birthday-- they offer birthday cake!) By the time we were seated, half the place was getting up to leave. Every staff member starts their sentence with "I am sorry.." which they have nothing to be sorry for!-- but just could be their way of being polite. The waitress who took our order was an older lady. She's the one who approached us when we first arrived, who seated us, and took our order. Her English was pretty good, with a very thick accent (of course) but you can understand her. If you couldn't she will repeat herself or try to say it in a different way. She offered many great selections!-- including which needs to be dipped into their special soy sauce and regular soy sauce. We had sashimi of: baby tuna, tuna, salmon, sea urchin, yellowtail.. and a few others I can't remember. And one tuna roll. Their wasabi is delicious! Everything is fantastic! They offer coke, sprite, and orange juice, along with different types of alcohol. The staff is always busy, literally hurrying along. They come over and wipe down the soy sauce drops that are on the table. They switch out your plates once they start to look a little too used, and always makes sure your drinking glass is full. One of the best services I've ever had! I did have to ask for the check, but maybe they do that so you can enjoy your stay and not feel like you need to leave. Our bill was just a little under $250 USD, but that was expected with all the sushi we had, and just what we were looking for. We highly recommend this place!

The interior of the restaurant is thoughtfully decorated and is also very clean and open. In our most recent visit, we came for lunch. Reservations are highly suggested since this restaurant is in the financial district and is often packed for lunch. To start, the green tea is complimentary and they consistently refill your cup. For food, we started with a salmon sashimi, avocado and softshell crab roll and uni roll to share. The salmon sashimi was served on a bed of ice, which was a nice touch to the presentation. It was really fresh and fatty, almost melting in my mouth. The avocado and softshell crab roll was also delicious. It's crispy and flavorful and I like that there's more filling than rice. The uni roll was unexpectedly disappointing, however. It was not fresh at all and the portion was really small for its price. For our mains, I got an eel rice. I felt that this dish was well executed because the eel sauce tasted delicious but it wasn't over powering. I can definitely still taste the eel, which was fresh, flavorful and succulent. We also got two lunch sets, the assorted tempura set and the beef udon set. These individually come with different items as part of the set lunch, such as miso soup, and/or sashimi and California roll. Overall, a solid place for quality Japanese food. Other than the uni roll, there are no complaints! The service and quality has been pretty consistent over the years, so I'll be coming back whenever I visit Hong Kong!

Menu changes regularly and everything is meant to be shared. Their signature dish is their flower crab that comes with uni. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed as the crab wasn't as sweet as I would have liked and the flavors were very mild. For the price, I wouldn't get it again if I came back Akagai arkshell clams: The clams were very sweet and delicate. Would order again. Scallop ebi tartare: BEST dish of the night. Do yourself a favor and get this dish if it's still available. This is a dish where you'll want to cherish each bite and have it last as long as possible on the tongue. The scallop and ebi were sweet and paired well with the uni. The pastry it was served on provided a nice crunchy texture. KFC Sawagani Crab: Think fried small crabs served in a spicy BBQ sauce. The crabs didn't have much taste aside from the crunch. Smoked BBQ Fish Collar: Fish was hamachi and was very tender. The BBQ flavor was nice but got a bit one note after awhile. Unagi chirashi: Flavors were exactly as expected. The unagi was sweet and the pickles added some nice acidity. I'm glad they gave this at the end as it was pretty filling. Overall a very solid Japanese restaurant that I would happily recommend to anyone for a date night! See

FOOD I expected omakse but ended up ordering exactly what I was to get. What was different here is that the plates are shared. I had a party of two and after I ordered, the waiter just left. I was assuming he would take both of our orders. Then, the majority of the dishes were plated on their own dish so the two of us just ate from the same dish. This wasn't a huge deal but I definitely have never seen that before. It kind of felt like we had ordered for one and were sharing everything. I'm curious what happens if you dine alone here. Not everything here is worth getting so I'd definitely read up a little before visiting to get the best experience. The flower crab is a must. It's worth getting more than one of those. DRINKS They have a good selection of alcohol. I only sampled a few of the sake. Simple and good. SERVICE Good. The restaurant is small and staff is never too far away. LOCATION Ronin is tricky to find. The door is unmarked and doesn't really look like a door. I first went for the glass door that was next door on the left. I've posted a picture incase you need a reference.

I'm one lucky girl to be celebrating my birthday here with my dearest family, and didn't have to pay a dime (heh). They only serve one tasting menu here, so you don't get to choose what you're having, but you do get to choose what sake to accompany your meal with. You also get to choose the exact sake cup to drink it from. There are 8 savory courses and 2 sweet ones. Quite a few of them are out of this world, including a dish with fresh figs, topped with foie gras, wasanbon sugar and sesame cream, which my dad raved on and on about for weeks after, delicious sous vide wagyu beef that melts in your mouth, and a luxurious chawanmushi (steamed egg) topped with crab and crab roe. The desserts are mindblowingly good as well. There is a candy-shelled pear with pear jam inside, all frozen with liquid nitrogen, and tasted like fresh pears in falling snow. The other dessert is chestnut ice cream topped with shaved chestnut -- as the biggest chestnut fan on Earth this was my absolute favourite, and while I was quite full I still devoured it all. The meal ended with some matcha and sweets, and was such a perfect ending to a perfect meal. I would totally come here again, if only it wasn't so expensive as well. Be prepared to spend a couple grand (HKD) here, but for Michelin 2 stars and the food, I'd say it was totally worth it.

We went for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm or so. Traffic was busy, but not crazy. They have the conveyor belt that moves sushi past you and you pick off the belt as you see anything you like (sometimes difficult to know what some of the items are on the conveyor belt, that is why ordering from the menu might be easier for some stuff). We ordered some from the menu to ensure freshness and we also pulled some from the conveyor belt. It was a good value and we felt like we got a good meal for our money. My husband and I both agreed that the sushi was fresh, but the quality was not solidly there. The salmon from the menu was not spectacular, almost pale pink and white and a little too fatty, whereas the salmon from the conveyor belt was more what we were use to, bright orange and quite good. Spicket on table is for hot water and green powder on table is green tea powder. Put water in cup, add green tea powder to taste. No charge. So we might go again, not sure. As you can imagine, since this place is rather cheap for sushi nearby, it does get quite packed during dinner hours especially on weekdays. The crowd waiting just outside of the elevator can be quite overwhelming sometimes. The best time to come here is actually on Sunday. There's almost never a line here for early lunch or dinner on Sundays. It's often a place where I come for a quick sushi fix before going to LKF. (You know it's not funny to spend a night drinking without some carbs in your belly!) If there's a long line, the option is to order sushi for takeout. Mind you though, the wait for them to pack your order can take up to 20 minutes during peak hours. Sen-ryo has a wide range of sushi and sashimi. Unless you are starving, I recommend you order them directly instead of getting the plates from the conveyor belt as the sushi will then be freshly made to order. They also have a good choice of cooked dishes like skewers, snacks, noodles and soup. If you want a drink, they also have a good choice of sake. They let you choose your own colorful sake glasses too!
