I couldn't rank all the eateries throughout the Food Republic variety, but they're all solid and most dishes are somewhere in the 40-70HKD range. There are other restaurants at Silvercord, but in terms of variety and casual vibe, Food Republic is an easy choice. This is especially appealing during that awkward afternoon tea time when every other place is closed. There is a ton of seating and free WiFi thanks to the mall. It's also super kid friendly and . I haven't quite made the rounds yet beyond the Juzzbar, Bafang Yuqi and Shanghainese spots, but I fully intend on trying everything at some point. I came too early so not all the stalls were open, but the ones that were were serving local hongkie breakfast foods: sandwiches and instant noodles. As I walk around, I settle on a small noodle shop with noodle ingredients on display and so I somehow point my way to a dish. The dish literally takes 30 seconds to cook, heat up the noodles in a simmering broth, quickly cook the satay beef strips and place the fried egg on top. Simple yet tasty. Since it was late we ordered Fried Squid from the 1st stall which was Chinese cuisine, which was very tender and with good flavor also, they serve you for free as much tea as you want to drink and it is cash only place. Upon meeting up with a local relative-in-law, our party of 4 had dinner here on a Sunday evening…read more  The restaurant is located in the Tai Po Market neighborhood and is in the New Territories.  Basically it is some distance away from Hong Kong proper but still easily accessible by MTR (mass transit rail) in about 35 minutes from Kowloon, and like for most metropolises, the cost of living (meaning rent) is lower.   We had a big delicious dinner, including 4 beers between us, and the total bill was just 885 HKD or $114 USD.  In Hong Kong proper, this same dinner would have cost 25-30% more due just to rent.  We had fish served in two styles, bean curd with vegetables, pigeon, and lamb stew in a hot pot.  I and the relative-in-law had 4 Guinness stouts between us.  The dishes were all excellent quality except that for whatever reason the two fish dishes were overly salty and all 3 of us out-of-towners agreed on that. The restaurant is located inconspicuously on the second floor of a smallish mall building.  When you walk through a hallway to enter the restaurant though, somehow you are all of the sudden in a huge, grand, well-lit, crowded, and boisterous dining room.  They had a big tank of big live seafood at the entrance.  The atmosphere was very energetic and festive and the locals love this place which tells you about the good values here.  Of course, our local companion knew all about it.  Great meal and outing, and I say 4.49 stars knocked back due to the saltiness of the two main fish dishes.
