We were on a local restaurant kick, so we tried this place for lunch. We got there just in time before the lunch rush so we got the last table. Kid wanted noodles, so we ordered her a small wonton noodle soup. She slurped all the noodles and refused to eat the wonton after taking one bite. It was a bit shocking as she had never met a dumpling she didn't like. Guess there is a first and that was the end of her lunch.
I ordered the rice noodle/donut dish. The fried dough was more soggy than I liked and did not have much taste. The chicken feet was average, not great, but I was able to pull the skin off, though the bones never separated from each other. They didn't have pork siu mai, just beef. They were stuck together and not seasoned very well. The most surprising was when the waitress told us they had to reheat them from the freezer, ick. Gai lan was super hard to chew, very old and thick. Guess that is what happens with a chain restaurant. Most of the food was meh and the waitress seemed surprised that we left food behind from every dish we ordered. We also ordered a fried egg with bbq pork. It looked totally delicious with the soy sauce but when we bit into it, there was no soy sauce taste. The veggies on that tasted like tobacco, like the chef had taken a puff and blew it into the food. Disgusting. Just could not eat anymore of the bland food.
Surprisingly, the restaurant was packed with a line, perhaps because it is one of the cheaper places in the area. We ate here abut 6 years ago and remembered it was not very good and we were reminded once again that we won't be coming back. read more
