I am no laksa expert, as I only had it once in Malaysia. Eggplant was soft, there was fried tofu puff to soak up the soup (which wasn't very salty), fish cube slices and shredded chicken. There were also clams and generous prawns with the shell on. We mixed both egg and rice noodles in there. Malaysian Curry Beef Brisket was really good. We had them with wonton noodle, which were perfect to make a sort of lo mein. Curry was perfect and beef was nicely cooked. Steamed tung choi was what it was. Then they gave us kaya toast at the end, which tasted like condensed milk, butter and lotus paste. Not an expert on this food but I quite liked it. Service was nice. The family that runs this place was chill and friendly. They made everyone feel welcome. We were completely stuffed by the end of the meal. Laksa was ok but that Curry Beef Brisket Noodle... Yum! I want to try the Yang Tofu Hor Fun next time... Looks good, but the pictures always look nicer than the dish, right? Oh and they gave us two drinks with the set meal too!

Apparently sizes only adds more protein so order accordingly. They have a specific selection of congee, including some fish and pork offal options but missing staples like sampan congee. Good choice if you're craving congee in the area but not exactly destination dining, though it's a fun quick stop for some local flavor.

Right away I noticed their strong ventilation system (it's a popular dinner place for hotpot). We had two of their noodle soups: one with cooked beef and tendons, the other with beef balls. I loved the regular beef soup, which is one of the more expensive noodle soups on their menu (70 HKD). But it was so tender and flavorful and still less than 10 USD! The beef balls had a nice chewy, almost sponge-like texture but lacked much flavor.

The menu is impressive, I have never seen so many choices. I wish we had time to explore more of the other claypots like the razor clam with black bean sauce. Why is everything in HK so darn good!? In Hong Kong, a noodle house can't be good if their wonton noodle soup is not good. This local eatery is small, but luckily we are seated right away. We order a wonton noodle soup, combination congee (及第粥), and rice noodle rolls (腸粉). First thing first, we love the wonton noodle soup! The wontons are yummy! The shrimp and minced pork inside is fresh and flavorful. The noodles, which are thin egg noodles, have a nice and springy texture. The broth is so savory with a distinct flavor of shrimp, ginger, and scallions. We also love the combination congee, which has assorted ingredients, such as meat balls, sliced pork, pig liver, and kidney (yes!). It's very delicious. As to the rice noodle rolls, we order the kind that has the "fried bread" inside. You can order one with meat inside, such as beef and shrimp. We go for the non-meat version. The rice noodles are soft and a nice texture and chewy, and the fried bread is bit crunchy inside. It is so good. Service is quite good here compared to the other places we've been. The walls are decorated with their Michelin one star awards over the years, which is an accomplishment. My wife and I came for lunch. The set price lunches have a lot of food, but cost just under $3000 for two. I didn't need a banquet. So, I skipped that. Instead, we shared fried tofu as an appetizer. It was hot, creamy and light. Definitely the right choice. Then we shared grouper prepared two ways as the second course. A wise decision. It was delicious, had contrast, and emphasized the fresh fish flavor. That cost $880, but well worth it. Much better than the seafood places nearby.

I have to dock a star though because of all the nickel and diming they do even after charging more for their dishes (e.g. higher tea charge at HKD $18/pp but at least they exempted my toddler, another HKD $10 for providing 2 wet naps, for market priced dishes they charge not by dish for prep but by number of people at the table, etc). The server also gave my mom some attitude when she asked to see the Mantis Shrimp we ordered live before cooking (which is usual for Chinese restaurants to check the freshness and size), and said bluntly that they're already cooking it. We came to try how they do their Mantis Shrimp so that was the star of our lunch. We had it prepped fried with garlic, pepper, salt. My hubby liked the natural sweetness in the meat. I found it just OK. We ordered the Fried Tofu with Chili and Garlic that others seem to enjoy, again hubby liked it, I found it OK. It came on a pile of orange rice crisps that had no flavor and added nothing to the dish. Our last dish was the Braised Pork Belly with Pickled Vegetables which was pretty good with ample meat that was very filling. My favorite of the 3 dishes. For a restaurant located on Sai Kung's Seafood Street, its also interesting that they're famous for their Crispy Skin Chicken, which you have to reserve in advance or you're out of luck if you try to order it there. We did not reserve ahead... :/ When looking for the restaurant, note that they are on a street not overlooking the waters and have no fishtank display outside to show you their fresh produce like their neighbors. So keep an eye out for their signage. Their dining area is up a flight of narrow stairs but I think they might have a table or 2 on the street level though I didn't get to see since they directed us upstairs though an outside entrance. Service wise, at least they carried our stroller up for us.
