A choice of upgraded drinks come with the tea set and my choice was red bean ice. Also was no disappointment. The tea set was very affordable, considering that makes it competitive in where it's located. The second time I came back to try their "usual" set meal. Again it was very affordable. Probably was expecting things would come out superb after the last visit. However, the satay beef noodles was luke warm only. And their bread was not toasted. It was fairly disappointing. And in fact quite off putting.

With all the things to eat in Hong Kong, this was a jewel of a find. We just came back from dinner…read moreat Ling Fat Chiu Chow and Oyster Congee tonight, this place was absolutely amazing. I felt like I took a time machine back to old Hong Kong, circa 1950. The decor is that of the past, the people working there looked like they were from that era. I was told that they have been in business for almost 70 years, that's probably one of the oldest restaurants in Kowloon, it is still owned by the same family. It's a mom and pop operation, you will most likely be greeted by a non English speaking person at the door, but do not fear, the are very nice and will serve you with no problem. The menu is in Chinese, so Google translate will work. They specialized in traditional Chiu Chow "Da Lan" dishes, something off an lost art these days in Hong Kong. If you have any problem ordering, just point to the pictures on this review. The ambiance is Dai Pai Dong like, but indoors, if this is not your style, don't come here, if you want a blast from the past and experience true HK, this is it. What to order? Fried Oyster Funnel Cake is a must, it's deep fried in hot oil, they use a duck yolk type batter with decent size oysters, it was amazingly delish. The oysters were in abundance, soft tender, not over cooked, you dip the oyster in a fish sauce and you have probably the best Oyster Cake in HK. The Oyster Congee was also delish, lots of oysters, pieces of dried fish, onions and rice. The congee is different than the Cantonese variety, Chiu Chow congee tend to be less cooked. The congee was not fishy, very sweet taste, it was really good. Pork Blood was incredible, not overcooked, the brown sauce was sweet and savory. Best pork Blood I have had in HK. Their goose was really good as well, their Chiu Chow low sui sauce was spot on, not too salty, not too sweet, not too medicine tasting, it complimented the goose nicely. Just some wholesome goodness or gooseness in this case. Overall, you can't really go wrong with their food, be ready for a long line, lots of locals, this is old HK style dining, elbow to elbow action, bring your own tissue paper type dining. If the decor does not take you back, the food will. Places like this are almost gone in HK, a great find, will certainly come back for more.

Er...my friends and I (five of us)waited for two hours for a table...It was pretty insane. It's…read moreprobably because it was around mother's day at that time. I thought about leaving twice during that two hours! But there were also a lot of people waiting for a long time so it kinda kept me staying. I wanted to find out why is it so popular. I watched the girl cutting out duck meat for a long time through the show glass. She only cut out a small section of the duck, which were the chest, thigh and leg part and some crispy skin on the plate. Then she dumped the rest of the duck into a bagged dumpster thingy. I think that must be used for soup or some other dishes. But man! that means when you order "whole duck", you actually only get the meaty part. It's definitely different from the duck house in LA. When we finally got our table, we were led into the deepest part of the restaurant. I couldn't believe how big the restaurant was! We were put to the booth seats by the window. It's nice cause you can see the ocean.Their dinnerware were also very cute with duck decorations all over! Talk about branding here. We ordered pork bellies with minced garlic, drunken chicken, the whole peking duck and Dandan noodles. Oh man! We waited for a long time for the food to come out too. At that point James was super hangry already but the servers weren't helping neither. They kinda ignored us even though we were sitting in front of the server room. was it because we weren't locals?Well well well HK doesn't do tips so... Anyways, let's talk about the food. The drunken chicken was excellent! The skin was not fatty at all and the meat was tender. You can definitely taste some wine flavor in it without feeling overwhelming. Pork bellies with minced garlic was very good too. I liked the freshness of the cucumber and the spicy from the minced garlic. I want to make this dish myself! The peking duck was good. But not good enough for me to wait for two hours TBH. I can get the same quality of peking duck in LA without any wait. And the price was similar. Dandan noodles was not bad. Nothing to brag about there. My friends insisted on paying for the meal at the end and I think she paid more than 700HKD for it. There's gotta be a better place in Hong Kong for Peking duck right?

Pros: the duck here is perfectly cooked- juicy with nice crispy skin. I also ordered the lobster bisque which also had robust flavor. The spring onion pancake on the side had good flavor but was not very crispy. The restaurant, while in a mall, is huge and with a great view overlooking the city. The decor all the way down to the duck stamped plates to the duck holder chopsticks is perfectly charming. Cool points to also being able to view the duck being sliced in the front window. Cons: All the food did not come out piping hot which is a huge pet peeve for me. The experience could have definitely been bumped up to that 4 star level with that detail. Service (which could have been lost in translation with the English barrier) was also lacking here. The waitress insisted I ordered my duck right away since there was a 45 minute cook time, only to bring it literally less than five minutes later. Not only are you that awkward person that has food before everyone else- it was also not very warm. Not cool. My friend ordered the stir-fried chicken which was not good. The hot sauce it was cooked in had no dimension and it had these giant ass cut up spring onions and peppers no one could feasibly eat. I'd give this place a chance if you are visiting HK. You'd probably have a slightly better experience if someone in your group can speak Chinese. I'd go for the duck and solely the duck.
