We ordered the mango sago with mango and almond tea with peach gum, snow fungus and taro balls. The mango is pretty good with sweet mangoes and a great dessert for any mango lover. Don't let the giant queue scare you, and yes there is almost always a queue. Despite that, it moves fairly fast. Its definitely not a place where you sit and chat with your friends. They expect you to sit down, order right away, eat it, and leave right away. But I guess many popular places are like that around Hong Kong.. Seating-wise its very cramp here. You'll be sitting basically elbow to elbow with strangers next and behind you. But that doesn't matter because their desserts are so wonderful! Some of my favorites are the tong yuen (glutinous rice balls) that come come with peanut sauce. The one that comes in the ginger soup is good too (for this dish, the balls have fillings inside, such as sesame or peanut sauce). Another good one is their sorbets, which are perfect for a hot day.

I believe one of the ways to try durian without having to be afraid of it is by tasting it through the various dessert dishes here at this cute little place. Having no idea that this place existed, I was pretty thankful to my new local friend who suggested this place. It's located in a small little street, similar to an alley way, and by the time you get near it, you'll definitely see a long line of people waiting to get in. The wait itself isn't that bad. Most people just come here to eat dessert and leave right after. Once seated, my friends and I spent some time browsing through the extensive dessert menu and settled on trying the durian with crystal seeds (one of the many popular dishes) and watermelon and lychee with crystal seeds. In summary, the watermelon and lychee were ok. The watermelon ended up being too watery for my taste and the lychee wasn't too memorable. Both tasted decent but definitely not a must try. For the durian, this was surprisingly good! I am normally not a durian fan (the stench gets to me sometime) but here, you couldn't really smell too much of the durian in the dish. The taste of durian was also soften quite a bit, making this dish a bit more doable for those who do not like durian. I found this dish to be pretty tasty and not too sweet and it was unique to eat it with the crystal seeds. Overall, this is a great spot to stop by for desserts. If you're not a fan of durian but can tolerate the smell of it wafting through the restaurant, this place is great to try other HK desserts at an affordable price.

Black Sesame Soup: The thick charcoal- colored soup of ground black sesame seeds is hot, sweet, and sticky. The black sesame has complex flavors that are deeply nutty, earthy, savory, and a touch bitter. There's enough sweetness that allows for the flavors to shine through. The texture is rich, creamy, and smooth. This is the best bowl of the shop. Sweet Walnut Soup: The mild walnut flavor pairs nicely with bolder flavors. The earthy and nutty flavor is creamy and comforting. Sweet Almond Soup: This highlights the aromatic flavor of almond extract, which is very tasty. The floral and fruity flavors are hats to miss.

It is known for having awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand which piqued my interest as I seek quality tongsui aka sweet dessert soups that remind me of my childhood days. The shop is small and crowded with all others who enjoy tongsui and the line moves fast despite the wait. You can order via a QR code at the table or with staff. The menu is simple and they've got most of the must-haves at dessert shops. They have a minimum spend per person if you are dining in, so beware if your group has a person who doesn't do sweet soups. The worst thing (or best thing) that could happen is you eat one for them. The tongsui we ordered were all very basic and while they were delicious, I couldn't tell if they were better or higher quality ingredients compared to other shops across Hong Kong. If I were to be in the area and wanting tongsui, then sure why not. But I am unsure if I would purposely take the train and walk here.

While the atmosphere is chill and service is adequate, I am unsure of how authentic it is as a sweet soup (tongsui) shop, as I do not find a big difference in the types of sweets it serves compared to the typical Hong Kong sweet soup establishment. There is an automatic 10% service charge when you dine in. With prices that are in the $35-50 HKD range, the quality isn't quite there. I tried their mango sago with tofu pudding and the bubur chacha, both mediocre at best. The tofu was warm and veering on the hot end while the mango and sage were chilled. The burbur chacha had little chewy pieces that made for a good texture but a bit too sweet for my taste. A small seating area is available inside and easily cramped if crowds are present. Not sure if I would visit this spot again.

Pretty good selection from the menu: various ice cream configurations and shaved ice. Service is kind of slow and food items can come out at different times, which makes it difficult when you're there with a bunch of other people. I enjoyed my shaved ice, it was well flavored throughout. Portion size pretty generous. My husband had the strawberry shaved ice. I thought the strawberry tasted like a fresh strawberry puree, he said it tasted more like a jam/sundae syrup. The other 2 had an ice cream bowl with 3 flavors: matcha, hojicha and Hokkaido milk. One said she preferred the matcha ice cream at a different establishment, the other said it wasn't bad although she wished the ice cream was creamier.

They do a stand up job with their version fo soft serve and it has slowly gained the popularity of Kowloon locals who line up here night and out. The evenings bring in the (young) crowds, but the daytime is usually an easy time to pop in here without having to wait. Their green tea matcha is right up there with some of the tastiest in Hong Kong. It is the kind of ice cream that is suitable for any time of the year; though summer has been a particularly popular time, naturally. While I like to rock a cone for my green tea matcha, going with a sundae version in a larger cup with mochi and tapioca balls is not a bad way to go either. When ice cream gets too fancy with the toppings, it is prime instagram material. Via Tokyo certainly has a lot of love in that department. Though their claim to fame is the green tea flavor, I really enjoy their Hokkaido milk on its own. It is simple, yet super creamy in texture and strangely addicting. I would also recommend dabbling in their seasonal / monthly flavor, which was most recently black sesame. The black sesame tasted like peanut butter, which is a flavor that will always resonate well with me. Can't make up your mind? Get a waffle bowl / cup that showcases all three. Your group (or just you) will be extremely happy you did. A reminder that it is cash only and prices will range from 35-55 for cones and combinations. A pro tip for people not willing to wait in the line: To go / takeaway orders are the way to go.
