We decided to go with the pork set with salmon and shrimp and the sukiyaki soup base. Some other soup bases include the japanese spicy tofu soup base, the burdock chicken soup base, and a few other selections. This set was all you can eat so you could enjoy a selection of foods from their all you can eat buffet bar (see attached photos) which includes a variety of foods both pre-cooked and raw. Some foods from the bar include ramen, udon, fishballs, baby corn, pumpkin, different kinds of veggies, and you name, THEY HAD IT ALL. They also had different kinds of sushi which they switched up every time we went back for more food! I went with my two other family members and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The meal per person was about $42 CAD which is worth it if you eat a lot, so make sure to come with an empty stomach! I would have given this 5/5, but one of our two pots did not boil properly. Also if you came with a group, you all had to choose the same set, so make sure to go with people that have similar tastes for food as you. Other than that, they had good staff, spacious seats, and overall, I would definitely reccomend coming here for some good shabu shabu experience.

I can say that my friend was fully satisfied by their wine selection, and he knows what he is drinking. In general it is a good place for a quiet after-work drink if you work in the area. I've been here separately for lunch and had a fantastic (surprisingly so) burger. The service was nicely attentive and didn't let our drinks sit empty for long. It's a place that I return to for a fancier lunch if I'm in the mood and drinks when it works after a day at the office. For drinks inside it suits the plan for a nice quiet conversation and for lunch it's an excellent treat!

I saw that the semi-buffet seemed quite popular with the other diners (plates and plates of crab legs!) We just ordered a la carte, each a soup and a main. I had the french onion and she the lobster bisque. Both were meh, I've definitely had better. The lobster bisque was definitely on the watery side, I'm used to mine with a punch more flavor. My main though! I had a rack of lamb (or maybe they called it lamb steak) and it was so well done. Australian lamb was cooked very tender and still juicy, almost medium rare, just the way I like my meats. The sauce it came with ( 2 types) was just enough of a drizzle and a contrast to bring out the flavors of the lamb. I would have this more often if I can!! I though the staff could be more attentive, although I think they looked understaffed. I would come back for the ambiance and to try out other dishes. They have dishes to cover most cuisines to satisfy even bigger groups of people!

Seafood, Sushi, Chinese, Indian, Halal, Carvery, Desserts and much much more is displayed in a user friendly way, its all spread out in different section where there is never too much of a line-up even when its super busy! They have an expensive cold seafood tower, fresh lobster, sashimi, sea cucumbers, shrimp, and fish. * Meat Station: The variety is unimaginable. They have everything from Spanish hams and roasted beef to Japanese BBQ meats and Tandoori chicken. * Noodles: Don't skip the noodle station; the Hong Kong noodles and Singapore Laksa were great. The dessert station is so expansive I can't even remember all the selections, but I stuck to the Chinese desserts and loved the egg tarts and the grass jelly with red bean. Service was super attentive the whole night. Pro-tip: We bought our buffet tickets on the KKday app and got a 15% discount. Definitely check there before you book!

They also have a great selection of ice cream, ice cream bars, Korean ice creams and more!! Great selection of soups to start, then you have fried chicken, tempura vegetables, Japanese Cold Udon or Soba, various kinds of salads and more! Meat are all cut to smaller pieces for easy grilling, I do think their marination is typical Hong Kong style rather then Korean style, but that is totally ok with me, as it is also very tasty and well done. Service is prompt and also staffs are helpful in clearing our plates, and offering clean ones etc. I am surprised to see such level of service in a AYCE type restaurant. For the price you pay, I am not going to nitpick too much, as long as decent service with good selection of food for you to choose from, I am already ahead of the game!

There are four buffet tables for: - AYCE marinated meat in all sorts of flavours - AYCE sushi! - AYCE soups, fried foods - AYCE ice-cream, drinks, jelly, cotton candy machine, cakes, some fruits OK OMG where do I start, because that's exactly what I thought when I sat down. Let's start with the most boring: SUSHI there is sushi in the back, 3 pieces of California sushi, 6 rolls of imitation crab sushi, 6 rolls of salmon sushi. There are two staff making sushi and sashimi is dinner only. There's cold salads, soba noodles, some other salad with a lot of dressing, two gigantic bowls of lettuce, a whole tub of wasabi SOUPS/FRIED FOODS one pot soup of the day (minestrone soup), 6 spring rolls, 10 pieces of fries, smelt fish with tons of eggs, 6 pieces of dumplings. Some fried fish (garlic and some other one). Kimchi and side dishes. The above is truly as sad as it sounds. But honestly you come here for: THE MEAT - marinated pork chop - pork belly - pork belly with herbs - pig ribs - honey BBQ pork - pork intestine with black pepper (I didn't eat this) - chicken fillet - chicken wings - chicken wings with herbs - beef with soybean paste - diced beef fillet - ox tongue - basa fillet - mackerel - marinated mini octopus - squid tentacle in curry and some others I didn't want to take photos of. VEGETABLES - mushrooms (enoki, French, and oyster I think) - lettuce - corn - pineapple - orange thing that looks like cheese DRINKS - fresh lemon tea (doesn't taste packaged) - fresh plum juice (doesn't taste packaged) - soymilk (cannot tell but doesn't taste packaged) DESSERTS - 6 tubs of ice-cream (no red bean, no green tea) - coconut jelly, jelly with herbs, jelly that looks like lego - chocolate fondue tower with two big bowls of marshmallows - chocolate lollipops - COTTON CANDY MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And whatever else I miss because my memory can only hold so much. There is a lot! For lunch 4 people, we each paid about $140. They add service charge to the bill. SERVICE OK maybe it's just my luck but they are extremely nice! They were patient, they reminded us that we need to eat by 3:45pm because they need to close the tables soon. The cleaning ladies were worried we didn't eat enough!!! THE RULES you eat for exactly 90 minutes. When your time is up, they come and pick up your plates and turn off the fire. However because we arrived at 2pm, our 90 minutes ends at 3:30pm. Sushi counter closes at 3:30pm, the rest closes at 3:45pm and the restaurant closes at 4pm. They reopen for dinner later. Technically we had more than 90 minutes because 3:30pm meant no new customers can come inside, they just let us take our time as we roast our marshmallows in the fire!!! ZOMG THERE IS A COTTON CANDY MACHINE!

#ThrowbackThursday - Remembering Hong Kong…read more.. Conveniently located at Nathan Road near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, we decided to have our final meal in Hong Kong at Daikiya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very solid all-you-can-eat option with two thick notebooks of pictured items to choose from. The raw and the cooked, the fish and the meat, the meal and the dessert... Sashimi - The usual suspects abound (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc.), but they also have hokkigai (surf clam), amaebi (sweet shrimp), Hokkaido hotate (scallop), and nishin (Japanese herring with roe). Served on a bed of ice and decorated with artificial flowers, each platter was well-plated... and delicious! Nigiri - There are plenty of winners here, but let's focus on the one that topped the list - Grilled Scallop with Crab Oil and Garlic. Seared enough to give that burnt flavor, dabbed with crab oil, then topped with roasted garlic... Need I say more? This was the highlight of our meal and, yes, my younger daughter and I had this over and over and over! Worthy runners-up - Grilled Flatfish and Prawn with Black Fish Roe. Rolls - An assortment of maki (sushi roll), temaki (hand roll), gunkan-maki (ship roll), and sashimi rolls was on the menu as well, but we were able to try only a few. The Mango and Soft-Shell Crab Roll was too small and had more cucumber than anything else. There simply were better options to be had. Grilled - Surf and Turf! Shrimp, scallop, oyster, lamb chop, beef, chicken, pork, and even pineapple. The best dish was the Sautéed Diced Beef with Garlic. Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium, these beef chunks were so tender and tasty! Dessert - Gotta save room for some (or all) of these - mochi, macaron, ice cream, tiramisù, brownie, crème brûlée, fruit, nut, and so on. We indulged in their special Milk Top, which had a limit of one flavor per person. We tried the Romantic Moment and Green Tea Harmony, which had soft-serve ice cream, red bean/paste, mochi balls, jellies, and rice crispies. The only way to cap off an AYCE! After restocking on calories, we were ready to head back to the hotel and then to HKIA. Daikiya was just what the doctor ordered to fill up our bellies before leaving. We totally enjoyed our stay in Hong Kong, but we had to wrap up our adventure. It was time to say goodbye... for now...

The name is as literal as can be, as…read moreHarbourside sits on the Kowloon side staring at one of the most stunning views of the Hong Kong skyline (as is the rest of the Intercontinental). From a food front, the spread is luxurious as it is enormous. The variety is a bit dizzying and completely overwhelming for the average hungrier than life patron. At $500-900HKD, it's almost hard to see where the value lies. Is it the ambiance (which is breathtaking), the service (which is superb), or the quality of the food (which is good for a buffet)? I'd have to say it's a little bit of everything. If all you can eat in an high end setting sounds appealing to you, then this is one of the better hotel buffets in Hong Kong. The seafood selection is the place where most folks tend to get the most bang for their buck. From mussels, clams, prawns, and limited oysters, there is also snow crab legs and lobster claws. Occasionally there are whole crabs and lobsters, which usually taste like they've been frozen. The sushi is an easy skip, due to the terrible presentation and slim cuts, but the sashimi, particularly the salmon, is quite good. There is also a decent variety of smoked salmon, which seems to be one of the most popular items in any HK buffet. The Italiano section features various breads, cold cuts, and cheeses. There is a pasta station, but it's closer to the middle where the hot foods are prepared. The dried fruits selection is nicely paired with the various cheeses ranging from gruyere to bleu. This area is not particularly impressive on its own, but decent for variety's sake. Hodgepodge is the best way I can describe the hot foods area. Random foods from a featured cuisine of the month (in my case, it was Korean), along with Dim Sum during lunch time, and various cuisines that span from Indian to Continental. There is also a carving station with trio of meats (ham, lamb, beef) as well as a "you make it" wonton noodle station. Big ups to the truffled potato mash, that was probably my favorite savory side dish there. Desserts are usually my least favorite portion of any buffet, but they do a good job showcasing some serious variety here. There are pastries, fresh fruits, candied pieces, a macaron tower, and even a fondue fountain. That's not to say that all sweet tooths will be conquered, this is Asia after all. Having been to a fair number of hotel buffets in Tsim Sha Tsui, I can safely attest that Harbourside is indeed among the better ones. For the variety alone, it's a glutton's paradise but the view is virtually unbeatable. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We made reservations a few weeks in advance because they book up quickly. The Sunday brunch that is offered is about $808HKD plus 10%. There is an option for free flow Champagne (Perrier Jouet) for about $858HKD plus 10%. Having been here on numerous occasions for my share of boozy brunches, I feel the quality of the food has gone down in the recent year. A lot of people love having the lobsters and the cold seafood bar. The bar in my most recent visit seems a bit messy and not as much variety of the types of seafood begin offered. The staff here are always very pleasant. There are servers walking around with bottles and bottles of champagne ready to top you up before you're on empty. They keep the bubbles coming so you don't even think about eating the food? That seems to be a tactic that worked on me. I didn't notice the downfall of the food until my buzz wore off. The brunch is one of the longer ones compared to other places. You can be seated starting 11:30 and the last drop of bubbly would be poured into your glass at 3:00. The cost of the buffet also covers you a drink at the end of your meal should you want a latte or tea to finish you off.

The food selection was massive, so there's no way I could write them all but here were some of my notes and things I'd get again: - Made to order grilled beef: really good, we asked for it rare since it's thin - Lobster with cheese was good: They had cold lobster and crab too but it wasn't super fresh to us and was a little watery. - Handmade dim sum: get the XLB and har gow - Roasted meats: Goose, roasted pig. The skin on the roasted pig was to die for. Perfectly thin and crispy - Prime rib: Good but a little over cooked for my liking - Sashimi and sushi: Really good quality - Fried ice cream: Very unique... kind of like the rolled ice cream. - Mango pudding: yum! - Butterfly cookies: I think they won some awards for these and it shows! We had a great time and enjoyed our experience here. They had a special baked Alaska show at 8pm, that wasn't super cool to be honest.
