Along with the brisket, beef tendons and 水餃 (dumplings - every other item is a dumpling so I think can use a better translation), plain or with a choice of 河粉或面 or 2 kinds of noodles. Beware, they close down in between lunch and dinner service so that the staff can prepare for the next rush. The space is small yet comfortable for the solo diner or with a table of four as there are decent sized booths. You can order via the code found on each table or just place an order with the server. The menu is is also quite small but definitely mighty. The mains involve roasted meats aka Chinese BBQ and rice but they've also got some unique preserved sausages. FAT J has an all day menu but what you need to know is that if they run out, it is likely out for the one meal service (lunch, and you'll have to wait for dinner to get your choice). That way, the chefs can serve both rushes and have enough to satisfy diners. We tried their Maotai Soy Sauce Chicken (can definitely taste the maotai though light, very smooth and tender) and Honey Glazed Char Siu (sligthly more lean than moist) with rice along with a fried egg. All meals come with a complimentary double-boiled soup of the day, which was a lot better than most free soups that come with HK style economical meals. It was loaded with flavor and meat/veggies! The ginger scallion oil that came on the side did not spare a minute in anyone's bowl...it was phenomenal and gave that umami punch. I've got my eyes on their scrambled ranou egg with char siu and roast goose for the next time I'm back. Then an egg sandwich, with creamy eggs in between two nice slices of toast. I absolutely love the way they cook the eggs here! I finally tried the talked about pineapple bun with cold butter, and as you can see, they have a big piece in there. I only at about half of the butter, it was the only thing I left on my plate. But breaking apart the bread and putting a small piece of butter on it was a nice treat, though I do think its a little overhyped. Of course I topped my meal off with that delicious Hong Kong Milk tea. In my opinion, it's a morning necessity. After eating, I paid at the register and was on my way. Overall the food was great and the restaurant was clean, but it was a bit too over stimulating for me. In reality, I was far from impressed.  The options on the menu seemed limited (enough to fit on one A5 page) and a little peculiar. It is great that there is variety and choices that I have not seen before for hotpot such as crab's leg meat, ostrich meat, pig skin, pumpkin slice and shredded taro. But they have foregone common favourites such as normal beef balls, rice (or sweet potato) noodles or bamboo slices and they charge an extra $68 for prawns.  In any case, overlooking the veering from the norm in terms of the menu, the food to be cooked is rather quickly provided and you are offered a free soft drink included in the hotpot price. On the downside, the service seems very sour-pussed with frowns all round and there is a 2hr limit for dining after which they say you will automatically be penalised $20 HKD per person if you go overtime.

There have been times when some of their stuff was off (soggy fried fish skin, wilting veggies) but the vast majority of the time their food is solid. One of my favorite things to eat there is their mushroom and pork balls. It has really good flavor and texture. Another unique thing they offer is crystal custard and BBQ pork dumplings. Even though it's weird to have a custard dumpling in the middle of dinner, I still enjoy them. Another things that I'm always impressed with is their sliced fish. It's fresh and well textured. Aside from the food, I enjoy this branch in East TST the most because it consistently has good service and it's comfily spacious.

Yes, I'm a fan! :) I rarely eat in here because I'd ALWAYS bring food back home and eat at my place, but I have eaten in here a few with times with friends, classmates, and relatives. Eating in here is good too. I just usually bring things back to my apt so that I can multitask and do other things while I eat. :) The food here is pretty flavorful and yummy if you like Asian vegetarian food. It's pretty small and tiny as it is being run by Asian folks more on the older side... But nevertheless, you can get tons of goodies here ranging from dim sum (both sweet and savory), soy milk, soup, lunch boxes ($25 - what an awesome price!), noodles, rice, etc. I always get their lunch boxes for $26 (add an extra dollar if you want noodles or rice noodles instead of rice). The selection changes on a weekly basis and with $25, you get your rice, side, and soup or soy milk. I always pick soup since I like their soup more than their soy milk. Give it a try if you're in the area. They have take away menus in both English and Chinese.
