That's where DCH actually differs. DCH is a trading group in HK with a huge motor division; they are the official importer for a number of brands with one of the biggest service centres. In the past they had sold their trade in vehicles through smaller dealerships but this practice has changed with the introduction of this Used Car Centre. These are all vehicles which have been either taken part-exchange or used by the DCH group, with that it comes with warranties that differs depending on the vehicle but it is their guarantee that matters. Their guarantee is that the vehicles have not been clocked and in anyway masked for problems- this is a breakthrough locally as in the past buying used always had its inherent dangers and nothing was ever guaranteed. The cars do vary in brands, so they stock not only the brands they deal with but other vehicles too. One of the apparent things that should hit you is that the cars have not been prepped in anyway, they sit there the way came in which depending on how you look at it may be a good thing or bad thing. The prices are also on the high side with no room for negotiation, but again you are buying a peace of mind that money can't buy else where. One major criticism with the place is that its a big place and its difficult to get to speak to someone if you are interested. These days its does feel a bit isolated in the sense that its in the middle of nowhere (without nothing around it anyways) but this has long been one of the most popular carparks for those coming to Central. You might not know it but this building was actually built in the 60s along with the structures around it like the City hall and if you look carefully it bears the hallmark for post war design (just like the City Hall). Compared to modern carparks the parking spaces are a little tight here as they were designed before the days we all started jumping into SUVs. The roof of this carpark is also sight to behold- this is the best place to truly appreciate how far Hong Kong has come in becoming an international financial heart- you will be able to see all the buildings in Central surrounding you like a canyon and many films, magazines have shot scenes from here. In a sign that its moving on with modern trends, a number of spaces on the G/F are now fitted with plugs for electric vehicles- that's something they certainly would not have thought of back in the 1960s. The parking fees here are steep though they are still the cheapest in Central- that means I will still park here as long as they don't tear it down.

Whilst this may be a common feature overseas, in a land where space is a premium this car wash certainly sets itself apart. Judging from the number of customers on a weekend you will see that they do their job well (note: it is not recommended that you go at the weekend as the queues are long and the quality does tend to suffer). The car wash for a saloon currently costs 138 which is a fair price given how labour intensive the process is- at one pointed I counted over 8 people working on a car. They also go above and beyond the car where they would clean not only the visible parts, but the panel gaps as well as doing some very rudimentary checks on water levels and tire pressure. They offer other cleaning and waxing services which again from past experience is well worth the money they charge (they are a little bit more expensive than their competitors). Maintenance wise they have a full workshop that will do both emergency repairs and routine maintenance. The staff are helpful and certainly better than what I have experienced elsewhere where most people simply try to fleece you to part away with as much cash as possible.

This is no different- the no.4 car park at Chep Lap Kok International Airport is, as its name suggests, a car park. So why am I writing about it? That's because this is the carpark that less people know about. Everybody usually heads to the no.1 and 2 open air ones because that's the first one you come across when you leave the highway. Its only for short term parking though and in most cases it is filled with people doing quick pick ups and on busy days its chaotic to say the least. This multistoried one is different in both sense- its covered (great for Hong Kong's rainy season), it has a lot more spaces and this is the one you have to go to if you are parking long term. I have had to do a lot of pick ups this summer because of travelling family members and the advantage of using this carpark is that on the (2) level there is a pick up point that leads you directly (via a short walk through an air conditioned passage) into the arrival hall. That spares you having to wait for the lifts which you do at no.1 & 2. Its also a much shorter walk if you have to pick someone up from arrival hall A- those who fly from CLK will know what I mean. Just remember that if you have to park long term you may have to approach the parking attendants first.

Public transportation is expensive though. It is around 6 dollars from Sha Tin MTR to HKSTP by minibus. You do that two times a day and it adds up. People here are very very very shy. They do not disclose of what they are working on to you. I came from Silicon Valley and this is not the same culture we are used to. Everyone here is doing something great and should share to the world what they're doing. The staff at HKSTP are really trying to make things work for us. However, they have a misconception about the entrepreneurs. They try to do all these 'fun' events like X-mas parties, but turns out no one goes. Actually no one gives a hell because all we do is just work and go home. Decor is nice. Very techy. Even has a Tesla charging station in the carpark.

This carpark is a savior for those who live nearby. Tsing Yi, to those who don't know it, has an…read moreacute shortage of parking spaces- especially for those who live above the station. Back in the day and for a short time I was the proud owner of two cars- or I should say I bought one before I could sell the old one. Though I was on verge of selling the old one, that still meant that I had to live with two cars and one parking space for about a week. This meant I had to find somewhere to park quick. The Tsing Yi Sportsground proved to be a savior. The parking rates here are relatively cheap- 12 HKD./ hr normally and overnight parking is 60 HKD which I find to be very fair. What you get is a huge open air carpark that is well lit, well patrolled and the only drawback would be the fact that it is open ground. You can't have it all as they say. You will find that a lot of people actually park here instead when they go to maritime Square as that place is constantly jammed up and the queues back up for a mile and parking here makes no difference at all. It takes no time to get to the mall. As with all public sports ground, you would not be advised to park here for prolonged periods of time as the charges are incremental and eventually you may be better off just parking in the mall or station carpark anyways. However, if they ever did a monthly deal I'm sure the spaces will be taken up in no time. Of course, we keep forgetting that this carpark is actually here to cater for the sports ground users and it so happens that many people live near it. Best value? Yes Long Term Parking? No. Anything else? Ask the attendant.

Keepree Pro is Japanese brand that was brought over to Hong Kong a couple of years ago, their marketing gimmick being that they offer a "no-touch" foam wash where by instead of strips of cloth turning on a roller, they have this huge foan sprayer that would "wash" or coat your car without so much as a fibre touching your car. This keeps it clean and avoid unintentional scratching by the rollers. Does it work? Hell yes. If there was a place to watch a car wash this would be the place. The shop floor isn't huge but in all honesty they keep it exceptionally clean, there is no clutter of any form in the working area and this is quite rare in Hong Kong. Moreover, they do stick to their world when it comes to giving the ultimate care not to scratch your vehicle, the foam system seems to work really well here. Judging from the other cars that were parked there waiting to be waxed (which by the way was also a miracle maker); this place must perform quite well. Aside from the machine itself, the meticulous attention they pay to every sill and corner in the vehicle is also a bonus point. Around 4 people work on your car in cleaning both the interior and drying the car. Brilliant. What are the downsides? Its not cheap- 180 HKD for a complete wash is on the high side but given the part of the town its in (middle of Wanchai) I am willing to pay the premium for the location. Apart form that, queues are often quite long and that means you either keep doing circles around the block to wait for them to take your car (they do run out of space to take your car on). If you are really into detailing your car then you might say you can do it yourself. But if you are in town and looking for a good clean wash of your car then look no further.
