This branch in the Popcorn mall is closed but we headed to the close-by Po Lam's MCP Central store…read morefor lunch instead. The location of the Po Lam store is on the ground level, phase 2, next to the movie theatre. I haven't had their dimsum in 4 years and it was just as good as I remembered them to be. Affordable, lots of variety and just simply delicious. Every time I'm back in Hong Kong, I have to eat here.

Ambience not the cleanest: a hole-in-wall, re-wash all your dishes place. But great dimsum that's pretty cheap - hence they are known as the most affordable Michelin Star restaurant in the world, with 1 star for good quality tasting food for price range. This location is just one of their many Tim Ho Wan branches so if this location is too far for you, there's several other branches in HK and even elsewhere in the world (e.g. NYC). Take out is an option- especially if you have children you don't want touching all the less clean surface areas. They do have high chairs and they don't exempt tea charge for toddlers. As for the dishes, our favorites were the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork and Steamed Egg Cake, which they are known for and indeed taste delicious. Hubby liked their Pan Fried Turnip Cake. We also liked the Glutinous Rice Dumpling which was 1 huge leaf wrapped steamed rice with meat (law mae gae). The Steamed Rice with Chicken Feet and Spareribs was another tasty dish. The Steamed Pork Dumpling with Shrimp (har gow) and Deep Fried Dumplings filled with Pork (ham sui gwok) were OK but was smaller than usual and didn't stand out. The Vermicelli with Beef Roll is one to avoid since the beef in it was too chewy. Overall, great tasting dishes! If looking for elevator to take you down to the lowest level of the mall where they are located, find the elevator on the 2nd floor next to Manning Kids.
Egg white and shrimp spring rolls / baked bbq pork buns - both must eats!

Just FYI to newbies , no cold water is served only hot . So being a cold water or order ahead for a bottle. Since there is some spice , I've notice some travelers struggle to order water. Hot tea is given and is all a surcharge at the end. If you don't want tea and hot water say it before hand. Service is quick and to the point. There is air con , and fairly busy. We waited outside for about 3 minutes in line . Very chill to eat and other guest are happy to try. Order won tonight soup, dumplings , pot stickers , rice and beef ... happy man

I've been here for both lunch and dinner. Dimsum was OK. I liked the flavors in their Steamed Egg Custard Black Bun though getting it on its own is better than getting it as part of their "Dim Sum Duo" (where you'd get 3 buns for HKD $48 instead of 1 bun and the Steamed Pork with Abalone for HKD $38). The rest of their dishes were just OK and only worth it if you can get the discounts. Dinner was also OK. We came on a night when they were also serving up a wedding so a lot of items were sold out (like Roasted Pig). Their cooking isn't too fancy and reminds me of a good home-cooked meal. They are located in the Popcorn Mall, across from Star Cinema, take elevators to the 2nd floor.
Its attractive, quite elegant dining room, complete with large napkins even for dim sum! 04.20.16

When we stepped in, it looked like a casual restaurant but when we got seated inside, the interior was more modern and it took me by surprise. The places here feel so different from places I see in New York, that's for sure. We ordered some vegetables, delicious dumplings and lovely noodles. The service for our food was fast and courteous. I especially loved the scallion pancake which had a lovely helping of scallions in the middle. For fans of scallion, you should try this. What else was very good was the dumplings that came with my noodles. Ahh, I feel like the food in HK is all good and I cannot wait to come back to stuff my face some more.

Came here for brunch as it was near our hotel…read more We came 15 mins after opening and were seated quickly. They gave us a booklet along with the paper to fill out, and most of the dim sum was the classic dim sum that I'm accustomed to. Their chiu chou fun gor was alright for me. They did put a good amount of peanuts in here but the exterior was a bit heavier on the dough side. Their siu mai and har gow were pretty good. Their cheung fun wasn't the silky light type, so I was just alright with it. Their Chicken with Sticky Rice wraped in Lotus Leaf was huge though, way bigger than those in Los Angeles. Their fresh mango custard roll was my highlight though, as they had chunks of mango in the middle and it was sweet. Would try this again. I think the one other aspect of this place is the interior is really clean, and they have a decent amount of tables inside. Service is a bit more attentive as the area isn't as large. I was most certainly full upon completion of this meal though haha.

Mark your order down on the sheet and go to the register to pay and turn in your order. Prices seemed to be slightly on the higher side at a first glance, but our final check ended up being pretty affordable. We tried their har gow, siu mai, baked BBQ pork buns, shrimp rice rolls, deep fried pork dumplings, and deep fried shrimp wonton. Food came out fast and I was pretty happy with all the items we ordered. Overall, decent spot for dim sum but I'd probably only come back if the wait wasn't too long.

That's too bad, because they have always been a good restaurant at mid-high prices with good service, especially if they know you or someone in your party. The traditional Chinese soups they offer is well prepared, the BBQ meats good quality, and the dishes in general well prepared with fresh ingredients. But where this place is special is that I will forever remember it as the restaurant where I ate the last meal with Mom. We visited her in November 2017 to celebrate her birthday - and it was a joyous event; the next morning, she passed away suddenly - followed abruptly by two more deaths in our extended family. Three funerals in 8 days over two continents feels surreal even now.

DON'T ORDER TEA!…read more Trying this famous dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong to see what the fuzz is about. Mediocre food and standard service, really nothing to write home about. However, they charge tea for anyone over 3 years old even if only 1 person in your group drink tea? My 2 daughters don't drink tea (7 and 11) and they still will charge you for it. I have not heard of any 3-year-old that would drink tea. Also $15 for a bottle of water? Total money grab.

The other more 'standard' dimsum dishes were also very good. No surprise it was very good in comparison to the dim sum eaten in the US. All the ingredients are very good. The cha siu bao had noticable pieces of meat in it. The ma lai gao (sponge cake) is definitely more light and fluffy than any other that Ive had. The flavors of all the dishes were very good. The stir fried noodles was a bit dry but had a lot of shrimp in it. Overall, would highly recommend this place to eat especially since it is in a convenient location. You can come here to eat after shopping around in the city gate outlets or after you go ride the cable car back down from seeing the buddha.
