I may have to agree with the last review on this establishment. Well, we were pretty hungry when I saw Bafang. We were also in the area for a different reason. But nonetheless, we needed to grab lunch. My hubby was amazed with McDonald's HK style..so he had to have it.. while I wanted something chinese, and so obviously Bafang caught my attention.
So, I started looking at the menu and pretty impressive enough, ..the staffs quickly came to my rescue. Helped me decide on which I wanted. Apparently the choices came in combinations. But I wanted to try a steamed one and a pan fried one. The good thing, ..it was ok to just get one drink. So I got steamed corn dumplings and a pan fried pork stick. Lol. And a vanilla bubble tea. Unfortunately, they didn't have a pairing of rice to go with it. I was quite shocked! Hahaha. I'm in Asia!
But anyhow, ..after 15minutes I finally got my order to go. I sat at McDonald's with my hubby to eat. I grabbed some soysauce, hot sauce and a little bowl plastic container to go with my order.
Then the tasting. I guess I was really expecting much! Don't!!! Or you'll be in for a lot of disappointment! Let's start with the bubble tea! That I'll give 4 stars! That saved them. My overall 2 stars, .. ..they get 1 star for the bubble tea, & they get the 1 star for the service .. ..they lost on the other 3 stars on their final flavors of their star dishes.
The dumplings was not what I expected... yes they came in pretty packagings.. steaming and all.. ...but the flavors were lacking. Even the soy sauce was not enough to give it that kick. The hot sauce didn't even help it either. There's just something lacking. Even a frozen store bought dumpling taste better. That's just being blunt there. As for the pan fried sticks.. I could only eat one.. tried another one in case I got a bad one, but.. it really was a no, no. With gray gooey stuff coming out.. it was bad for me overall. Maybe other people like that flavor... I just can't take it. Not for me. It was a waste.
So, if the authentic shop is truly different from the HongKong shop, then maybe id like to give it a try. But I don't think I'd be back at the Hong Kong chain. Sorry. read more
