Cabin service itself was world class where the cabin crew greeted me by name with every interaction and were quite tactful and elegant. Shortly after takeoff, drink and nut service began, then a duck appetizer, and world-class Chilean sea bass over e-fu noodles. Sea bass was perfectly cooked and the sauce was spot on! I did sfo-hkg with spore airlines this time. I remember about 20 years ago, my mom took Spore Airlines back in the day when they had open 30 day return tix. She was unaware of the 30 day return (promo tix). She ended up havign to have surgery done on both her legs due to a severe vericose condition (she chronically stands 12-15 hours daily for her job). At the time, she was unable to return within the 30 days, so i had to contact their sf office to see if i could get an extension for her. I told them i could get her medical docs and md notes, if needed. However, the office said that wasn't necessary at all and just changed her date to when she would be released from the hospital. I was so grateful and thankful for their service. It was easy peasy. Now, 20 years later, i was pleasantly happy with their good customer svs at the hkg airport. The agent who helped me was jovial and pleasant and good natured. i had just deplaned from China Airlines and had quite a nightmarish experience from taipei airport to the flight, so i was so pleased when i transferred to singapore air at hkg to return to sfo. The very tough negative experience with China Airlines reminded me how it might be worth it sometimes to pay a little extra for a company that cares about you.

The attractions and decor make this airport very eye-grabbing. I would say that this airport is easy to navigate; including the check-in process with many staff members willing to help. One restaurant I did feature: The Alchemist Cafe! It's a very cute and quiet restaurant. I sat for an Americano and local HK porter. The staff were very polite, kind and attentive. Each dish brought out looked delightful. It's also cute and creative that they have a postcard option for you to write your future self a letter. The only challenge I encounter each visit here is the lack of charging stations. But it's a quick fix portable options from the 7/11 on the first floor. I recommend anyone a visit to Hong Kong!

Flying back to Canada on AC has been my routine for the past few years, previously, I have been…read moreflying with CX & JAL, both great airlines offering good in flight services and amenities. On one occasion, I had to fly back to HK on a very short notice and was not able to get a ticket with CX, my agent suggested AC instead, with no other choices, and I do not want to have a stop over in Tokyo if I fly with JAL, I finally flew with AC after many years. To my pleasant surprise, the Business Class with AC has improved enormously, especially with their Dreamliner 787, the seating arrangements are similar to CX, but I find that the seats are a bit wider and also the firmness is just right ( you can adjust the firmness to your liking with a touch of your finger on the control ). Service on board has always been an issue back in the days when AC received a lot of negative comments, but I find that flight crews are all very friendly on all my flights so far! ( should I keep my finger crossed? ). They make you feel at ease with their down to earth kind of service, they don't rush you or pester you, they let you relax and provide just the right level of service, this is the kind of service that only experienced staff can offer, I had been on airlines that "over service" which actually stresses you out instead! So, if you are ever thinking of flying Air Canada, do give them a try, they may surprise you with their very own Canadian Hospitality! OH remember to ask your attendant to make their "Signature Cocktail", then relax and sit back and enjoy!

However, I have been struggling to find a reasonably priced ticket to Thailand over the National Day holiday and heard that Thai passport holders with Hong Kong ID can get cheaper tickets. I was sceptical but popped down to the office to check it out and the rumours were in fact true! As the staff probably have very few customers, they were eager to help and talked me through literally dozens of flight options when all I had found online were 'fully booked' notifications. All I had to do was hand over my Hong Kong ID card and Thai passport and the rate was slashed by three thousand dollars. The only thing is that you have to pay cash up front to get the deal. Thankfully, although the Thai Airways ticketing office is way up on the 24th floor of a regular office building in Admiralty, there are a number of ATMs and banks downstairs in the mall type area that occupies the lower floors. The tickets are printed old school style but you can still check in online. Just make sure you don't lose the paper copy as you receive no electronic record. I can't vouch for the regular fares but I was thrilled with my little deal. Thai passport holders should make this their first port of call when looking to get out of Hong Kong - epic rates and quality service.

Booked Thai Airways TG 628 flight from BKK to HKG more than a month in advance. Pre-ordred meals…read moreand selected two aisle seats for the wife and myself. At check-in they shoved me into a middle seat in a 2x4x2 configuration. I didn't realize this until I boarded the plane. Upon appealing to two flight attendants we were informed that they had to change planes. I was asked to wait until boarding was complete before moving to an aisle seat. They even asked if my wife and I would mind splitting up our seating to which we replied that would be fine. Boarding completed, nothing. I went and asked the flight attendant again, and she said we're fully booked. There were seats open in the bulkhead which I pointed out - same class of service. She said those seats cost extra. I was in disbelief. She said she had to get on with the procedures for take-off. I cooperated and sat down. I later expressed my displeasure again with what had happened to which the flight attendant stated "they changed planes". I will no longer advocate for Thai Airways and think twice before having to use them. Poor judgement led to disappointment on this short haul holiday flight. I'm a 2-million miler, Star Alliance Gold member that booked direct with Thai Airways. They will have to work hard to regain my confidence and business. The pre-ordered vegetarian meal all salt - not recommended.

Competition in South Korean aviation is intense that's why standard with these airlines are often high. Operating with a fleet of Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 777-200ER (Extended Range), these aircraft were transferred from its parent airline, that's why the interior is similar to it, only the head cover is different. I got to fly on this airline twice from Gimpo to Jeju and return on both 737-800 and 777-200ER and here is my observation. The Boeing 737-800 type dominates the fleet and it flies on Hong Kong to Seoul Incheon sector. I wanted to book with this airline but the airfare is quite expensive. The seat pitch is the standard for LCCs, a tight 30' inch so don't expect much. You can pay for entertainment by renting a mini tablet and in-flight meals, there is a menu on this on the seat pouch. Service - you can expect a set of professional and friendly crew taking care of you. As for the airline's Boeing 777. It flies on longer routes and also on Gimpo to Jeju route, but not to Hong Kong. What is unique about this aircraft is it has both 2-5-2 (first and second section) and 3-4-3 (last section) seating configuration. So if you get to fly this aircraft, I recommend the 2-5-2 if you are flying solo or with a partner. Overall, my experience with this carrier is an excellent one and I highly recommend this airline for its efficiency and excellent safety record.
