My friend ordered a dozen escargots as entree. That came out and I kept waiting for my prawns. My friend waited with me after eating couple escargots. Waitress never understood she is supposed to bring both out despite explaining to her twice. Have to called manager and explained a third time. By the time my prawns finally come out, my friend's food was all cold. They were apologetic and offered free ice cream which we turned down. Service was mediocre at best. I had to wave down a waiter at least 4 -5 times before getting someone to take my order of wine. We were in the quiet little room on the side. So I don't think I will be back.

Throw back to Old Shanghai, when its the Paris of the Orient!…read more During the 1920's 30's Shanghai was the place to be in Asia! Very much the centre for commerce and finance, it is also the Capital of anything in Vogue, where new fads and fashions are embraced in this ancient country called China. Food is a way to express the way people live and the way people "want" to live! Hence the invention of Chinese Influenced Western Cooking. Very much like the Yoshoku Cooking in Japan started in the Meiji Period. In China, it is mostly influenced by the influx of White Russians refugees during and after the Revolution. They bring not only their own culture but also their cuisine, some of the more wealthy "refugees" would still hire maids and cooks after their escape, as they still wish to maintain their ways of living before the revolution in Russia. These Cooks later became fully versed in the Russian Cuisine and soon they put in their own signature to make it their own. At Sunning, their influence of the West came from France, Russia and other European cooking methods. They also pride themselves in baking their own bread fresh everyday. Lunch that day was with my family in Hong Kong, we all grew up having this type of western dishes, and its a way of getting back to our childhood times. My Rack of Lamb was done perfectly, very tender and juicy, the doneness perfect, the sauce was a bit on the sweet side tho. The Chicken Caesar unlike anything we see in N. America, it is their own interpretation, chicken breast was poached not grilled, thus its more tender and moist, being a Caesar Salad it's size is not doing justice to the dish. Yes, I understand it is a starter and not a meal size, so if you are on a diet, this will be a very good dish to have! Service is old school, very attentive and warm, all the servers are over 50 and they all seemed to have been there forever! Sunning is still is and hopefully will still be there for a long time, as new generations will learn the history of their grandparents here of how food is being served in the old days of Shanghai and Hong Kong!

The Romana-style pizzas (with the stretched, thinner crust) deliver a perfect crunch with every bite. The ingredients taste fresh, from the rich tomato passata base to the creamy mozzarella. If you go, do not skip the iconic Dough Balls with garlic butter to start; they are a classic for a reason. The Service The service is efficient, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. Even during the busy weekend rush, the staff manages to seat guests quickly and keep the pacing of the meal seamless. Drinks arrive promptly, and the wait times for the pizzas are impressively short, especially considering they are baked fresh to order. The Ambience The atmosphere strikes a great balance between casual and vibrant. It features a clean, contemporary design with open kitchens, so you can actually watch the pizzaiolos tossing dough. It has an energetic buzz that makes it versatile enough for a relaxed date night, a catch-up with friends, or a hassle-free family dinner.

Most other restaurants in Times Square were not vegetarian friendly, so we decided to just eat here. Overall, solid food. It's quite spacious inside, so even if they're busy you shouldn't have trouble getting a table. Probably wouldn't come back but if you're craving some pizza while in Times Square, this is a decent option.

The café offers both indoor and alfresco seating, creating a laid-back vibe with its crisp white décor. My fav of the day goes to The pork shred is tender and flavorful, infused with a smoky sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the creamy hollandaise. Another main dish was rich and flavorful, with tender chunks of beef slow-cooked to perfection. Esp. the sauce!! Love it so much. Doused in umami yoghurt sauce, was also fork-tender, while its accompanying sauce adds a creamy texture and a hint of nuttiness. We rounded off our meal with a special . It looks aesthetic with its baby pink colour. The sweetness of the chocolate perfectly balances the natural earthiness of the beetroot!

The Pulled beef Benedict is extremely lack of flavor. The poached egg has no taste as well. Overall if it is one of the signature dish, then I don't know what else to say. The Ragu Papperdalle is a bit better in taste, at least not seasoning and flavor. Honestly, not recommended for a brunch spot as price is not really cheap. Spent over $300 for two without drink.

A solid burger place in Kennedy Town…read more The menu says "Taste of Leisure" and that's certainly the vibe here. The environment is more of a hipster bar than a restaurant with about 2 dozen craft beers, high table seating, exposed brick wall, billiard table, electronic darts arcade, and chill music playing overhead. The burger is a bit of a cross between a gourmet and bar style burger. Simple handmade patty, but presented well in a mess-containing wooden tray. I usually go with a standard cheeseburger to truly assess a new burger joint, but opted for the Handmade US Angus Beer and Mushroom Burger ($88) with American cheese and sautéed mushrooms and onions. The burger was cooked medium by default (without being asked) and juices started dripping out when I went for my first bite. The meat was flavorful and the American cheese reminded me of my childhood. The bun was slightly over toasted that made it less malleable around the burger, but it just made it a little messier. The bun also had a slight sweetness that surprisingly accompanied the burger well. The best bet for a burger in Kennedy Town (as of current), I'll be back for the same burger and also try some of the other non-beef burger options as well as starters and snacks.

Ambiance/decor-1 Service-3…read moreFood-4 Strikeouts-0/3 The appearance of this place has nothing to do with the rating of this place. It's meant to look ragged and run down from the outside since it is a hot spot with the construction workers. It got popular due to quality of their food and they provide clean napkins despite the look of the place. The service is what you expect, minimal interaction and quick to take your order. Though, they do get some things mixed up due to how busy they are. They would constantly ask if you ordered "X" or "Y". I orders beef brisket noodles, two BBQ pigeons, iced red bean drink, and a buttered pineapple bun. The two things that shined is the iced red bean drink and the pigeon. It's quite rare to have the red bean taste in the drink, without being too sandy or watered down. Very traditional. The pigeon was really good In a sense that most places make it suck at it. In the last 10 years, I haven't had any as good as this place in Toronto or HK. Don't know what their secret is, but it wasn't too salty, dry or bland. I didn't need to dip it in the flavoured salt at all! Oh this place has a English menu surprisingly!
