Had soup and a sandwich. Was served fast and tasted great. Staff were very sweet. The outside patio is super cute but the inside feels like a kids school house which I don't understand and the seating is odd BUT that doesn't really matter, it just wasn't what I expected. Great place to visit! read more

I wish I could say I loved it! I've lived in wakefield most of my life and I always said we needed a little sandwich cafe shop where you could sit out side! My First experience here went well, I got a turkey sandwich. The second time I came I had a buffalo chicken salad wrap... Way to much mayo and sauce for me... The third time I had breakfast, and it was again okay just not stellar! A year later I tried to coming back thinking it may have gotten better ... Unfortunately it was still subpar! My mom and I got two of the same paninis ..... Chicken pesto mozzarella and two sides of broccoli kale coleslaw! Much to my surprise the food was ready before we even sat! Since they were so fast with the food the cheese was not melted at all and chicken was cold! Magically the sandwich had grill marks but the bread was barely warm.... Pre-grilled bread, really!!! Anyways the coleslaw was really good ( they forgot to bring two out but quickly fixed the situation and brought out another) ....but a panini is a warm sandwich...my chicken panini should not taste like I just pulled it from the fridge! Disappointing, I hope they take a little more time on their food next time... Because I really want to like it! read more

I'm trying very hard to really really like this place because I like the idea and the menu so much, unfortunately what I've seen and tasted so far just hasn't lived up to my expectations. Where this is failing for me (and prob. the easiest to fix) is that in any given order there is always something wrong somewhere in the order. A salad w/out dressing, a sandwich w/mayo when it was ordered w/o, a long hair in the lentils. It just seems like the owner needs some better organization and help. The place does get crowded and she is a one-woman show trying to shoot for a higher bar. She does have a helper but she seems to need more help than she actually provides (not to mention showing off WAY too much butt-crack, not something you want to see from someone preparing your food). Pluses for the quiche. Big negative for the chicken cutlets sitting in the display...had one that was cold, dry, and tough enough to be inedible. I'll give it a month before trying again. read more

I have eaten here many times. It's a fantastic place to get healthy food that tastes great! Salads are always fresh and tasty. Portions are generous and breakfast is available all day! read more

I was so excited to find this place in Wakefield, which had yet to offer something so gourmet, fresh, and affordable. I went around lunchtime on a weekday, and there were several other people ordering and eating, but service was quick and very friendly. There are a few tables inside, and it's very nicely decorated with pictures of Wakefield landmarks. The tables outside will be a great place to eat when the weather improves. The variety and quality of ingredients is amazing. I ordered the French chicken sandwich with delicious sliced chicken, asparagus spears, goat cheese, tomato, herb mayo, and greens, and had it as a panini. I get excited anytime I see goat cheese as an option, and the sandwich was absolutely delicious. Other sandwiches, quiches, salads, and meal options looked yummy, as did the sides and ingredients featured in the display case. They've got espresso, teas, and cold drinks. I can't wait to go back... maybe today! read more

I can't believe I didn't review this place earlier! I've been coming to Zuzu's for lunch about once a week since I started my job nearby in August. Everything is fresh and delicious. They really think outside the box on their soups, salads, and sides which I really appreciate. A few of my favorites: -Crabcake panini -Turkey and wild rice wrap -Wild Rice side read more

I LOVE the menu and everything on it.... omelettes, sandwiches, and the strawberry Nutella panini - all outstanding

My boyfriend and I stopped here on Saturday afternoon. We were the only ones there. I ordered a turkey club, and he ordered a soup/sandwich. We were told to go sit in the seating area and someone would bring out our food shortly. 10 minutes went by. 20. Finally a man came out and said, "Oh, you are still waiting? One minute." Then he disappeared. 10 more minutes. I finally went to the counter and while I was waiting for someone to acknowledge me, our food came out. We were told someone in the kitchen "didn't see" our ticket. If my boyfriend hadn't ordered soup, we probably would have just taken it To Go, as we were trying to get errands done. In the end, the food ended up being delicious, and the man even came back and gave us a few little treats to take home, which were also great. He was very apologetic. Although we were annoyed with the wait time (as we were rushing to get errands done at that time of the day), we were happy with the sincere apologies and the attempt to appease us with the goodies. read more

I am so upset over this. I live down the street and love coming here for lunch. The food is great, it's clean, it's cute. But honestly, after this cold expierence - I'm so done! Yuck! Took my food out to the patio, eating lunch with my friend, and decide that I need a to-go box because I can't finish the delicious and heaping helpful of quiche I have. I went to walk inside and ask for one -- and the girl had locked us out! Turned down the shades, locked all the doors, took the umbrella inside. I mean, can you close a place up when you still have guests?!?? Maybe she was in a rush to leave - it was a nice day and all. I just wish she would have said it was closing time. The hours on YELP said open until 6pm...it was only 4. So, I couldn't walk down the street, home, with a plate of food. I had to throw it all away. What a waste!!!! If I wanted to throw money away I would have just thrown it away!!! Ugh. Disgusted. I work in the service industry. Never going back!!! And being a local you can bet I'm tellin' everybody! read more

I hosted my daughter's baby shower on Sunday, March 15. I ordered a variety of sandwiches and chicken fingers from Zuzu's. The food was fresh, tasty, and everyone enjoyed!!! read more

Wanted to treat a great friend to an upscale lunch at Artichokes - Closed!!! My friend spotted a sweet Cafe directly across Main St., Wakefield and suggested we eat there. It was a far cry from my intention, but it seemed the only option, with limited time. What a Happy Accident! The place was adorable, super clean and the food beautifully displayed, fresh, clean, healthy and delicious. I had the vegetable stuffed portobella mush- room with lightly roasted perfectly cooked asparagus and crisp green bean & heirloom tomato salad lightly dressed to perfection. My friend had the grilled salmon with the same side dishes. We were more than pleased. The outside cafe was a lovely place to enjoy great food & conversation without pretense. Sweet. P.S. Salt & pepper shakers on the tables would be an instant plus. read more

Tried out Zuzu's today for the first time. Lovely little cafe with outdoor seating on flagstones. Quick service and many, many options. Mixed results on food - great chicken salad wrap - large chunks of fresh chicken. Poor chicken parmesan panko cutlet - very little marinara sauce and not a lot of flavor. If all food had knocked me out of the park they would have gotten 5 stars. *Gluten-free bread available read more

I've been there a few times with a couple of different people. Everyone has been happy with what they have ordered and the variety of options. A couple of times what we've wanted has been sold out. The service could be a little quicker, but it seems to be improving and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I usually order a veggie wrap without the cheese. I'd love to see some more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu! read more

One of the cuter places in the area with a good menu. They serve coffee in mugs, have almond milk and cane sugar, and have a very cute and positive indoor and outdoor space. My latte was not very good. The almond milk they use tastes chemically. However, my breakfast burrito was delicious!! I would definitely go back. Cute antique stores around to walk to after as well - which is what we did! read more

I've only been there once but I was impressed with the fresh food and warmth and friendliness of the owners. The menu had plenty of healthy and interesting options. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. read more

Food is great! Service is great! This is just what this area needed. High quality healthy food at a reasonable price!!!! read more

I LOVE this place! It appears to be family owned and operated, which is nice, and the outdoor seating seating in the warm weather near the lake is beautiful. I love a place that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a great catering menu, as well. My all time fav is the roast beef wrap with horseradish which is sold on the regular menu, as well as the catering menu! can't go wrong either way! Everyone will be happy if you show up with a platter! All the food I've gotten there is nice and healthy too:) I would highly recommend this place! read more

Had a Sunday luncheon for 15 people. Met with Dawn to plan the menu. Her suggestions were spot on and the group loved everything. The menu included calzone, beef satay, Morocan chicken , pizza and many others. My favorite was the pin wheel sandwiches. The presentation was mouth watering and the compliments on the uniqueness of the food never stopped. We will definitely do it again as will some of my guests. Thanks Dawn. Joan and Bob. read more

Great sandwiches prepared fresh. They had a harira soup as a special once that I still think about. Would highly recommend for lunch. The patio is great in nice weather! read more

I chose this cafe for a quick lunch while I was at a seminar nearby. I was happy with the menu selection and would return. It's a nice little shop with mostly fresh food, though I am uncertain about that Portobello mushroom in my sandwich as it didn't have flavor and was quite sloppy. The crowd is mostly new moms and it was busy so it's good to get to-go! Outdoor seating seems nice on most days I'm sure. read more

Really tasty & refreshing homemade lemonade on a hot summer day Tried their panini sandwiches, they have so much to offer on the menu it was hard to decide what to order. You can see the fresh cooked items in the display and the panko chicken looked amazing so I got a chicken parm panini with that. My hubby got their hawaiian ham panini which had a mango salsa, really tasty. My panini was huge, the chicken was thick but not dry surprisingly and tasted really good. We also got coffees, they make good hot and iced, strong and smooth just how we like it :-) I would definitely return, was a good experience.. The outside seating is really nice, patio under shade. You could sit inside but its in a small room but has a/c if too warm. read more

This was our first time there this morning. I liked everything about it. I'm assuming it was the owner, he was super nice and the food was delicious. I love sitting out side and the out door seating here is perfect. Will definitely be back soon read more

Delicious, fresh, healthy, locally owned, friendly, reasonably priced. . . .we can't wait to visit again!

holy moly. I really needed something to eat but I was in a rush so I got a sandwich from here on my to work. I am SO GLAD I stopped here and that I know about it now. I got a turkey sandwich with apple, Brie and fig. I opened the foil and saw huge slices of juicy turkey breast on the sandwich which made my day, no flimsy deli turkey but fresh toasted slices of turkey breast. It's delicious and am so happy I found this place. read more

One of my favorite spots in town. Great gourmet sandwiches (be sure to get the onion bread, grilled panini style) with interesting ingredients. Really nice outdoor patio right downtown with views of the fountain, the lake, and the commons - though they do have a small inside for year round dining. It's like a cafe you might find in Nantucket. The only downside is the service can sometimes be a little slow, but that's only the result of everything being made fresh. read more

I love this little cafe that opened next to where I work. There are a lot of other places to eat in Wakefield but nothing like this place which has the freshest ingredients and an interesting menu. You can bring home dinner for the evening. At this point they are not open into the evening but have four tables inside for breakfast and lunch. In warmer weather they have a few tables outside. One of the owners is Morrocan and there is delicious cous cous. Great paninis and one day I had a lovely piece of salmon with two sides. Yum! And the owners are wonderful, very accomodating and they have WiFi. Woo hoo! read more

A friend of mine told me about this place, so my boyfriend and I checked it out over the summer. What a happy surprise! We both had paninis. Mine was a turkey panini. REAL turkey, none of that deli stuff. The cafe itself has amazing selection and quality of cooking. There is a level of taste and class that sets it apart from the typical sandwich place in the surrounding areas. We also had EXCELLENT coffee. I took my friend there last week, and we recently discovered that they have cooking classes as well, which is something we are excited to try. It is a great find in wakefield, and I sincerely hope they make it! read more

I come to this cafe at least four times per week. You can't beat the location, atmosphere and patio. The food is fresh and easy and more than what you would expect from what appears to be a coffee shop from the outside. read more

Sandwiches are best in Wakefield by far. My all time favorite is Chicken Portobello wrap! An awesome lunch.

Gourmet sandwiches are the shit! I'm often craving something other than the traditional Greek pizzeria or '____ House of Pizza' that mark every corner of every town in MA. This place is different. Interesting combos, specials, 'panini'-style, good ingredients. Definitely diggin' the Zuzu. read more

If you want something healthy and delicious that won't cost you a lot, this is the place. I love the salads. You can even get a half salad and it's like a whole salad. Comes with a slice of grilled bread. Love the place. read more

Great spot to grab lunch on the patio after a walk around the lake. The roast beef panini on an onion roll was exceptional. Huge list of sandwiches that all sounded great. Topped it off with a fresh lemonade and an awesome chocolate chip cookie with huge chocolate chunks. Service was fast. Order inside and they bring it right out to your table. Will be back! read more

Only been there about 3 times, so far everything has been really great. Last time got the lentil soup which was very fresh and healthy.. and I wanted to get their special Lamb sandwich but it was sold out. Today, got the stuffed portabella, which comes with two sides ( got the brown rice with mushrooms and sesame green beans). Really just great tasting, healthy, fast food. Got it to go, and am only eating half and saving the rest for tomorrow lunch. Definitely enough food. read more

Made a visit with one of my granddaughters and ordered the panini for both of us, had the mushroom with asparagus and greens .. was very tasty, but i had such a time trying to eat mine, it was not cut properly there for it was falling apart as i tried to eat it, then it became seriously messy so i threw it out could not enjoy it, didn't want to go back in for the girl who brought the food out to us on the patio wasn't friendly at all, she basically threw the food down at us, we said thank you so much and she didn't even look at us! I will try it again, but also the food is pricey..But maybe worth it who knows till i go and give it another shot!! read more

I absolutely love this place. I have never had anything that wasn't fresh and delicious from sandwiches to soups to desserts. Catering is also available. The owner, Dawn, works there regularly and gets to know her customers. Love this small business and go here any chance I get to check out the specials. read more

It is really nice to finally have a cafe on Main Street in Wakefield, close to the lake that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Katie, the better half of the two of us discovered this place and took me down there earlier this week for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. Zuzu's has a great outdoor area when you first walk up with a few bistro tables and chairs setup, although we didn't sit out there because of the snow. There are a few seats(6-8) inside but it is reasonably small and I would definitely recommend this as a warmer month or takeout joint. I ordered the Beef Tenderloin panini with cheddar, caramelized onion, and a horseradish creme; while Katie ordered the Quiche of the day which was spinach, feta and tomato. I was informed that they were out of beef tenderloin but she would happily substitute Steak Tips..."sure no problem." The panini and quiche came out and from the first bite my mouth was happy. Great compliment of flavor with the onions, horseradish and steak all swirling around my taste-buds. If there was one downside it was that the Tips were a little chewy, but I'm not foolish enough to not expect this a little. Overall excellent on the panini side. I've been informed that the quiche was good but lacked slightly in flavor, but upon Katie's second visit, without me, she had a cup of black bean soup and grilled asparagus that were both excellent! The service is friendly and on point, and our cappuccino's were nice and frothy too! Upon checking out Zuzu's website we have found that they're goal is to use as many fresh and local ingredients as possible. Kudos to them for taking this on as their business direction. I am always pretty stoked to see business' that employ this model for their food. They also offer entree's and side dishes to go and are open til 7 Monday-Friday. We will definitely be trying some of the to go stuff at some point when we are feeling to lazy to prepare our own dinner! Finally, the greatest part about Zuzu's is their location. I foresee a very busy future once we get through this ridiculous winter, as they are located about a quarter mile from Lake Quannapowitt. If you are not familiar with downtown Wakefield or the lake and you live in any of the surrounding communities you should familiarize yourself with them. While doing so I highly recommend a cappuccino and a panini before or after walking the lake at Zuzu's cafe. read more
