There is a fantastic view overlooking the lake and town from this Tea Room. Everything is fresh and hand made, and the owners are fantastic. I have eaten here on several occasions and I have never been disappointed. I take all my out of town guests here and they fall in love. One of my favorite visits is when the owner shared with us his home made pumpkin soup that was cooking outside in a large cauldron. That was the best pumpkin soup I have ever had. Once we got off the elevator, it was a different experience. I felt like we were in the 90's. The carpeting in the hallway was faded and dated. Once we got to the room, more carpeting, faded and dated. Thankful I remembered my slippers. I will say, the sheets were crisp and clean. Our adult children were staying in a different room. The next morning our son showed us a video he had taken of 2 sizable insects in his room. Needless to say, their room was changed and apologies were given left and right from the front desk. This hotel needs a full makeover. For the price they charge, you'd expect a modern room with modern clean furniture--free from insects!! We were there 2 nights. The 2 stars were given to the front desk clerk named Vincent. He recommended a great Italian restaurant in the area and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We will not return to this hotel. That's unfortunate because it is in a great location.

They upgraded my family to a junior suite with a huge balcony overlooking the lake, that was pretty cool. Suite also had a large bed and big sofa bed, nespresso machine, minifridge. Bathroom was pretty big as well, with a nice bathtube for the kids. Kids loved the large pool and jacuzzi. The spa area had a wet sauna and gym too. Also if you are traveling with kids, they have a bunch of board games at the lobby, and there was a playground in a park right next to the hotel. Easy access to the promenade where you could take a walk around the lake. Bus stop right in front of it, plenty of buses to take you around the city. Also withing walking distance, a migros. Overall, cant complain, really liked this hotel and would stay here again.

I wish the veggies would have been more substantial like broccoli or cauliflower, but I don't think they have that in Switzerland. I have been searching for it and can't find and may e that's why I'm craving it. Anyway, my husband had the bruschetta and he said it was good. This is an old property that really needs gutted and renovated. Thank god I wasn't here in the summer to stick to the sheets.The breakfast is limited because of the off season.Staff are friendly and nice , even if they're lying in your face.I don't recommend this 4 star( should be 1/2 star ) old wreck of a hotel.

Deluxe room with lakeside view was plenty spacious. There is no road between the hotel and the lake, only the paved beautiful tree covered Lakeside Promenade Fleuri, the walkway that surrounds the lake, so we would expect the hotel to be much quieter with no traffic noise and perhaps more relaxing and less touristy than other hotels more towards the center of town. However, just a short pleasant stroll and you'll be right downtown in minutes if you desire. It's also located towards Chateau de Chillion and it's an easy walk from the hotel to there also. It is a classic old hotel, very updated, but expect the quirky odd placement of electrical outlets, bathroom light is to be turned on from the outside of the bathroom, and the single glass of the shower allows water to get all over the floor. However, all this easily tolerated for the location and quite, pleasant stay. We favor the more German side of the Swiss cuisine as compared to the French cuisine offered in the hotel restaurant. Also, the older waiter at the restaurant, was nice enough, but would only speak to us in French although he knew we only understood English. That was kind of annoying. Otherwise, all other staff were great. No AC, but we were there just after August and with the doors open it was plenty cool and comfortable. Wi-Fi worked well. Overall, hotel was extremely nice, and we would totally stay there again!

We had made reservations for a table outside which is a must. The views from the terrace are as good as it gets. The wine list is better than wines by the glass and they have a good selection of 1/2 bottles. We had entrecote of beef and mushroom risotto. They were tasty and lake perche seemed to be the popular dish of the day. Of course the lake was probably in Thailand but thats OK. Its a family run house with the kids playing in the back. Just the kind of place you would take your visiting friends. Not the stuffy, fancy room written up in the guides but a family spot in a tiny village of 335 people mostly working in the vineyards or making wine. Go for the views and stay for the honest food and interesting local wine. We loved it.

Good things: * Breakfast for €40/day for a 2-adult 2-child family was very reasonable for the high quality offering * Location right on the lake was fantastic. The walk to Montreux was actually a highlight. The paved pedestrian path, separate from traffic, offered beautiful views the entire way, and many playgrounds for kids. * Property itself was quite classy * Montreux area was well worth seeing for a couple days, especially Chateau de Chillon * Quite spacious for a small family, could easily host more people Meh things * The Villa interior has been modernized in a mediocre way * Clarens doesn't offer many dining/food options (though the restaurant at L'Emitage itself is quite fancy). The Brazilian/Pizza place we went to was subpar. * Less views from the Villa (though it does peekaboo to the lake and the views to the surrounding mansions are fancy) * The ceiling in the attic/kids room is quite low and I cut my head pretty good walking around in the dark, hitting a beam. My head took a couple weeks to heal. The staircase to the attic was also quite steep and our kids would fall when descending it. * The Villa's kitchen is quite separate and is missing many tools, e.g. a coffee maker, most utensils. We ended up not using it. In retrospect I would have stayed at one of the large hotels closer to Montreux. While they looked dated/clichée in pictures, in person they were quite impressive, and offered better views and amenities.
