Great meal, but what surprised me the most about this restaurant were the dishes I most enjoyed. Not the bone marrow ravioli, nor the tuna tartare, but rather the salad we ordered to share and the praline creme brûlée dessert. Not quite what I was expecting from a Michelin-recommend restaurant, but at least something blew me away!
The restaurant is conveniently located directly across from the Montreux train station, and so we were able to make a lunch reservation here as soon as we got into town. The service was excellent, and we were promptly seated and well taken care of throughout the meal. And the VIEW on a clear day! Well... the view is certainly 5 star! One of the only downsides to the restaurant is its proximity to the lobby... throughout the meal we could hear people rolling suitcases and a woman talking on the phone. You may want to request a table outside on a warm day, or try and move deeper into the restaurant to avoid the noise.
As for the food... I don't know if I'd actually recommend either of our main courses. Although the tortellini were beautifully presented, the sauce did not help to highlight the marrow, and half of the cheese trills that came on top were hard, not crisp, and so inedible. The tuna tartare was a better dish, with lots of ginger, but I can't say it was the best I've had. The seed salad, though, was amazing, as was our dessert- i wanted another crime brûlée after polishing off the first- and this was by no means a tiny dessert!
Perhaps, if you chance a visit, go heavy on the apps and sides- it doesn't hurt to save some money, too! read more
