I rarely write reviews, so this will say much using a few paragraphs. This is one of the best places I have ever dined in. As far as quality of the food (I had a 400g steak I believe it was tenderloin) and the amazing service. John (the owner and the main and I believe the only chef) is one of the most legit and down to earth people I've met. When he's not cooking, he checks on his customers to see if the quality is up to par. He also gets to know his customers (as far as nationality, work, etc.) You can tell he puts a lot of heart and passion into his work. I'll definitely be back here again. read more

Great family restaurant! We stopped by after visiting Chillon castle. Great food, and tons of it. Excellent value as well. It's a set menu- so come with an open mind and you'll love it. We met John, the owner and chef and chatted for 15 minutes. He directed us to an amazing afternoon hike, up the funicular and down the gorges de chauderon. read more

My daughter and I went there tonight for dinner. We had reservations and when we walked in, we were greeted by John, his wife, and dog Chico. Very nice people and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend the steak and fries. It was served on a hot stone along with four dipping sauces. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert but I would not doubt it would have been amazing. My husband and I were in Switzerland for a brief stay after coming from France. We had just checked into our hotel and went for dinner. We were quickly turned away by two restaurants in the area for not having a reservation (we had no idea this was required). We then stumbled upon Chez John The Roadhouse. We were greeted instantly by the staff and welcomed warmly. The owner, Chef John, personally introduced himself. As we are Americans and didn't understand the menu, he walked us through the whole menu and made recommendations for us. The food far exceeded our expectations. I'm not very adventurous with my food so I had been struggling a little with European cuisine. I ordered the beef filet (filet mignon) and my husband ordered the deer meat. They bring it out on hot stones so the meat can cook as long as you'd like. Our food was phenomenal! Chef John even recommended a great Russian wine to pair with our meal. From salads, to entree, to dessert, the food was DELICIOUS! By far, the best meal I've had since coming to Europe! It was filling too! With the owner, who is a riot by the way, and the great food, I would definitely come again!! read more
