We were staying in an apartment in Rivaz and wanted a place we could hike through the vineyards to get to for Sunday lunch. The Lavaux is a amazing set of terraced vineyards overlooking Lac Leman just above Vevey.
We got there early and they were just finishing up breakfast service. We had made reservations for a table outside which is a must. The views from the terrace are as good as it gets. The wine list is better than wines by the glass and they have a good selection of 1/2 bottles. We had entrecote of beef and mushroom risotto. They were tasty and lake perche seemed to be the popular dish of the day. Of course the lake was probably in Thailand but thats OK.
Its a family run house with the kids playing in the back. Just the kind of place you would take your visiting friends. Not the stuffy, fancy room written up in the guides but a family spot in a tiny village of 335 people mostly working in the vineyards or making wine.
Go for the views and stay for the honest food and interesting local wine. We loved it. read more
