First our room ...it was a lovely suite, with awesome balcony, floor to ceiling window views overlooking the LAKE and alpine mountains beyond. Simply breathtaking. I could easily have lived there ( no seriously) for a month ( if finances allowed) ! Very reminiscent of The Gilded Age, this hotel property has been updated but maintains its old world charm & elegance. If I didn't have a desire to see all the beauty surrounding me in Montreux, I may have Just lounge Md around in our room & enjoy the hotels many offerings! My husband's favorite part was the brunch/ Breakfast..served in a Conservatory (glass enclosed) space with views overlooking the lake & mountain vistas! Lots of fresh offerings enough to satisfy even the pickiest eater. The LOCATION, also a big part of our ease of stay. Very short walk from the rail ( train) which runs like a reliable SWISS clockwork! Clean, and timely rail cars make using the trains in Switzerland a real asset to a traveler eager to see many sights! Overall I loved this hotel, and Montreux. Switzerland has my heart! There are bus stops a few feet away depending on where you're going and which bus you're taking. There are lots of restaurants and cafes in this area. The hotel is beautiful outside and inside. I'm also about smells - this hotel smells fresh and clean. We left our backpacks here when we arrived in the morning and did the preliminary check-in process so that when we came back to check-in in the afternoon, all we had to to do was grab our room key and our backpacks. The lobby is quite nice. There's a beautiful restaurant with a nice view of the lake. There's a nice gym on the top floor. You can workout with a view of the lake. There's a spa area. However, it's uncomfortably hot in the gym. The room was beautiful. It was spacious and we had a balcony with a table and chairs so you can enjoy the view while eating breakfast or a snack. The fridge has bottles of water, soda and juice. There are also bottles of water on the nightstand. The bathroom is quite small. L'occitane toiletries. You get robes and slippers. Plenty of TV channels from all around the world. As long as I get British channels, I'm all set. And American shows dubbed in a different language is always funny to me. I have been traveling thousands and thousands of miles for 24 hours including an hour and a half train ride to get here and I'm sitting in the lobby falling asleep because my room is not ready and it's almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon. European hotels always know you're arriving early in the day and I've even checked in at some hotels around 11 to 12. . I'm titanium. I stayed over 100 nights last year at Marriott and I'm just not going to do that this year because they just don't have the service that they should have for someone that stays that many nights. The desk is very busy now checking people in and I'm pretty sure I'm sitting here forgotten not to mention that my room rate included breakfast and I appreciate the upgrade. They gave an upgrade to me based on my status, but when they did that, they dropped off my breakfast that was included with my room. I don't eat much for breakfast anyway, so it is what it is. I'm not gonna argue with them since they seem to think I'm making it up. I've been coming here because I came here with my husband who died recently, and I've been coming here in his memory to Switzerland once a year and I've been coming to the hotels that he and I stayed at, but I think perhaps it's time to make new memories and find new places to stay.. I definitely think it's not suitable for the price.

The hotel should be honest and say if your room is air conditioned. If your traveling from Overseas call can confirm first. I was lucky they had an extra room. The restaurant is excellent and staff amazing. This negative review fails on management or ownership. Not sure of Swiss building code...this would not muster and the rugged hose would be a big fine in the US.

Also if you are traveling with kids, they have a bunch of board games at the lobby, and there was a playground in a park right next to the hotel. Easy access to the promenade where you could take a walk around the lake. Bus stop right in front of it, plenty of buses to take you around the city. Also withing walking distance, a migros. The next morning our son showed us a video he had taken of 2 sizable insects in his room. Needless to say, their room was changed and apologies were given left and right from the front desk. This hotel needs a full makeover. For the price they charge, you'd expect a modern room with modern clean furniture--free from insects!! We were there 2 nights. The 2 stars were given to the front desk clerk named Vincent. He recommended a great Italian restaurant in the area and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We will not return to this hotel. Our outside patio and window were covered in cobwebs and spiders. This hotel desperately needs to be remodeled and updated. Our room had air conditioning, which was a surprise, but as it would so happen, the air conditioning didn't work. We ran it all night and our room never cooled down. It was too warm outside to open the patio door and let some fresh air in, so unfortunately we didn't sleep very well in the stuffy room. The one plus, our room had a terrific view of Lake Geneva and the surrounding town and was within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. It was very pleasant to walk along the lake and we enjoyed seeing the sunset. Would not stay at the Hotel Eurotel Riviera again and would not recommend.

5* no contest on this one…read more I have left CH 2 yrs ago and back ten I loved going there on a sunday afternoon any season to enjoy a niceclub sandwich. And over the years it was always outstanding. Yes it's pricey but boy do you get our money worth, the setting is great, a nice old fashioned smallish luxury palace on the lakeside. The terrace is a true highlight, as you face the magnificant french alps and indulge your snack, lunch or dinner the only noise that might disturb this very quiet is the horn of a "belle époque" ship on the lake ! The rooms are very comfortable, if you are lucky to have a lakeview the confort level reaches obscene levels. Having grown up in the area, I thought I was used to the view, which I found out was not the case at all. This is a new perspective when you are lying in your bed contemplating it is really something unique. So since I don't live in CH anymore I always take the time to get off the highway when driving past Vevey t grab a bite or have a coffee, and I have NEVER been dissapointed :-)

The price was about half the price of comparable hotels some that didn't even have AC. The AC in this hotel was great and they also had fresh mountain water dispensers with and without gas in the hallways near the elevators. This place was a really, really nice experience.
