He demanded I wire him the money immediately, with ZERO paperwork or formal documentation. Foolishly, I trusted him and sent the money with zelle right away--big mistake. Later, I checked their Yelp reviews (why didn't I do this sooner?!) and started seeing red flags about their shady business practices. I called Jim to cancel the work and asked for my money back. That's when he got angry and said he'd only give me a partial refund. Since then, he's completely ghosted me--no calls, no emails, nothing. He only showed up to collect money. He left his incompetent assistant alone on the job who installed the 1st solar panel in the wrong place on my brand new roof. They wired the panels to the inverter and batteries so both are fried and not working anymore which will cost THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to replace. He took $5000 in a deposit which he WON'T RETURN. When I gave him the check, he said he'd email me the invoice which he didn't. I had to hound him for 2 weeks before he found the email in his draft folder. Then he sent his employee to measure my attic in the garage where he planned to install the inverter, but I don't have an attic in the garage. This same employee slept on the job on the roof. Marcos and Jonathan came and really helped us out when we needed it, they explained everything and they did a great job. However, now we are having problems getting a follow up. When Marcos and Jonathan finished up at our house, we had a couple of light fixtures that weren't working correctly. They assured us that all we needed to do was change the bulbs (because they popped during a power surge) and that would fix things. We did that, but the fixtures still don't work correctly. (Please note that this was back in January.) After changing the bulbs, like was recommended to us, I contacted Zeros through the Yelp app messaging system to try and set up a follow up. Mark responded and apologized for the delay in getting back to me due to some issues with the Yelp app. Great. No big deal, and I gave him my phone number and asked if we could have a follow up to look at the non-working fixtures. I asked what day and time to expect someone out, and never got a response. Then many weeks pass with no contact, and I admit that I did not reach out for a while because of work, Covid concerns/vaccine after effects, and other things. Last week I reached out twice via Yelp message. Based on the Yelp message app, I can see that my messages have been read, but there have not been any responses. I also tried calling the number on Yelp, but when I call it goes straight to voicemail without ringing, and I get a message that says the voicemail mailbox is full. We have been getting by without having access to those light fixtures, but this is something we would prefer to have available to us. I am still incredibly thankful and happy with the initial work that was done to fix our electrical issues. I just wish I could get in contact with someone to clean up the one lingering issue we have had since the initial work was completed in January.

I did some Yelp bidding and Victor was pretty responsive and came out to our place for an estimate. He seemed pretty knowledgeable about code requirements and pointing out some things we should update and what things seemed fine to leave alone. After chatting with some other electricians Victor's rates seemed reasonable so we went with him. Victor and his team were prompt to work with us and fit us in between various projects. It still did take a few weeks to finish everything between waiting around for permit and PG&E inspections. However Reliable Electric coordinated all the logistics for those matters and would update us as things got scheduled. Our original scope of work was upgrading the panel, installing the Tesla charger, and adding recessed lights. Since we didn't have a big attic or a crawl space, they had to open up some of our walls to do the work. That's when we discovered that there were still knob and tube wiring in some parts of our house (was built in 1953). He recommended rewiring since that would work better with our new lighting and it would make things safer. While we had the walls open we decided to run some ethernet cables to different rooms for convenience. We discovered a breaker not working during the first week after we moved in but Victor was quick to come out and replaced it free of charge. He also did a few other gratis things for us like securing the outside wiring around the house and replacing some old switch boxes. A few months after moving in, some of the outlets in our house stopped working. Victor came out in a timely manner to look at the issue. He was thorough in testing out the breakers and the problematic outlets. Turns out it was a loose neutral wire in another outlet. It was promptly fixed and everything seems to be working again. Since this was our first home purchase and contractor project, here are some things I learned: -Reliable Electric does not patch walls. Since they had to open the walls for rewiring, we had to also find someone to do drywall patching. For future projects I will ask contractors what are some items that their scope of work will not cover. -While it was easy to coordinate with Reliable Electric directly, it may still be beneficial to work with a general contractor if you have a bigger project. We were doing other updates around the house (painting, flooring) and I felt like I had a second job coordinating everyone. -For future projects I will research and buy the materials myself to save on some costs. We've been in our new house for a few months now and are enjoying our updated electrical work!

I went to the Tesla site and found out that Clever Electric is a certified Tesla Installer. I connected with Clever (My Ngo) and a few other Tesla certified installers. I received a really good quote immediately from My. He also offered that if I took care of the permits, I could get a further reduction. Since his quote was already a couple of thousand less that the Tesla installation cost even with the permit, I decided to go ahead with him. I also realized that I could get a further $500 Tesla rebate if I could get the installation done in two and half weeks. I immediately connected with My on Sunday when I realized this and he picked up my call and assured me that he would help me as much as he can to get the installation done on time. I then proceeded to order the Tesla Powerwall 2. My came by my house and took a look at the installation. He then realized that he needed to do a lot more work than anticipated. He was very apologetic. I decided to do the permits myself. Within a week, I got the Powerwall 2. I filled in the paperwork for the permits - My helped me quite a bit there. And I was able to get the permit by mid next week. I connected with My for installation. He was very surprised that this got done so quickly. He was able to free up time for me right away. He and his helper spent 3.5 days installing it. The additional work was really substantial because he had to move a large number of circuits from one side of the house to another - going through the sub-floor, attic etc. He did an absolutely amazing job - he was very meticulous. He used absolutely high quality materials. The inspector came and unfortunately because of my misunderstanding, the battery needed to be moved about 12 inches. Note the battery is very heavy and difficult to move. My was very supportive. He came again the following Saturday with two helpers because of the weight of the battery. And they moved it by a foot. This took the better part of the morning. Finally he was there for the final inspection and made sure that the inspection went well. My was extremely supportive throughout this whole experience. His work has been of very high quality and is very conscientious. He did an excellent job with Tesla Powerwall 2 installation. He did not cut any corners even though the job was much much more than anticipated - I realized that based on the amount of time that My and his helpers spent on the job.
