I do think the Beginner Ballet sessions are on the short side (they are only 45 mins) and as a result are better suited for people looking to refine their technique than complete beginners who need to build foundations. Strength and Stretch is also probably best suited to experienced dancers, as the class has students doing crunches for consecutive minutes with no breaks and going into straddles, side splits, and advanced yoga poses with very little preparation and no modifications (this class is also only 45 mins, so warm up and cool down are quite brief). I would rate my experience as a novice to dance as 3 stars, but more experienced dancers may get more benefit from these particular classes, and it seems the ballroom classes are much more popular and well reviewed. This is a convenient location right off Foothill Expressway with ample parking in the back. There are classes in other dance styles (especially ballroom) almost every day of the week, so I may try those another time.

*Rediscovering Myself Through Dance: A Journey for New Moms*…read more As a child, I found joy in Bharatnatyam and Hindustani classical vocals, with performance feeling like second nature. But as a new mother, I realized how much I missed that creative outlet--something just for me. Stepping into Dance Identity in Sunnyvale reignited that passion. Some of my fellow dancers have become dear friends, making this journey even more rewarding. To all the new moms (and anyone else seeking to be part of a community while learning to dance) out there looking for an energizing escape, a space to move, express, and connect--come dance with us. The open level class had students of various skill and experience levels, and I fit right in. Victoria knows how to communicate movement concepts and did not hesitate to jump right in with hands-on corrections, which I appreciated and certainly needed! I wish I had the opportunity to study with her more consistently. The only issue is that the drop-in trial class was about twice the cost of ballet classes I have encountered at home or elsewhere (including NY, Paris, and Hawaii), but on a one-time basis, it was well worth it.

In fact, inspired by her I started taking the adult class from Victoria this year and so far really enjoy it. I love the fact that she deeply cares about her students, kids or adults, and she wants to let everyone truly understand and appreciate the beauty of ballet. Her classes focus a lot on the fundamentals which I think is absolutely critical for kids at younger age. Thank you Victoria!

Okay, as far as I know, it's the only place that offers adult contemporary. Luckily, it's a great class. Adrienne Foley is a beautiful, relevant, and attentive instructor. I am thrilled to have found her class at Zohar. Kristine Elliott's ballet class was challenging and fun. Unfortunately, I'm usually unavailable during her classes. After Adrienne's class on Mondays, a group of flamencos wait to start their class. It's so great to have a studio nearby with several options of dance styles. The studio is down the long drive off of Middlefield and left, once you get to the parking lot. The recitals are so so well put together, with professional sound, lighting, costume, and choreography, which is surreal considering that it organizes hundreds of kids into so many back-to-back ~3 minute dances. I work out through face time with 3 other women, each of whom are in much better shape than I am. Jeff tailors a program for each of us, so that we are doing similar exercises at the same time fitting each of our needs. He has been particularly good at helping me find ways to continue to work out despite some knee issues. He is amazingly responsive. What I'm enjoying most is the balance in the workouts between strength training and cardio. By the end of every workout I really feel a sense of accomplishment and have worked up a good sweat. I feel that great feeling of having worked hard and accomplished something, but I don't feel so exhausted the rest of the day that my day is shot. I feel revved up rather than beaten down.
