So friendly! We wanted to stay longer and visit but we were just passing through. Grabbed a couple of amazing slices of homemade desserts to share and they never made it out of the restaurant. Cute outdoor seating and a convenient portable toilet -very clean btw-makes for a great stop to stretch your legs. We plan to stop by for some pizza on way back cuz it smelled sooooo good. We were staying near Hartsel for Memorial Day weekend and was recommended this place for dinner. Let me tell you... this place is a MUST STOP!! My husband had the sausage sandwich with homemade pasta salad and I had the cheese ravioli with sausage and roasted red pepper sauce. IT WAS ALL INCREDIBLE!! I never dream that decision would give us access to some of the best pizza and baked goods in Colorado. Their pizza is FANTASTIC!!! But it doesn't stop there. The meatball sub and pasta salad are like your mama used to make and the Grinder is pure East Coast... says a girl raised there Are you look for something a little more gentle? Their Alfredo is delish'! Now let's get to the good stuff, or in this case, the even better stuff. They make fresh baked pie, as in blueberry, peach, apple - your going to wish you lived here But it doesn't stop there. They also make great cannoli. Surprising excellence in food and hospitality in small town Colorado. Someone saying pizza and seeing a 5* review for zuccaro's we figured we would stop. Greater friendly at the front door of the small restaurant the group of 6 of us took up two of the three inside tables. Service was quick, orders were taken and the waitress quickly engaged us and our friends in conversation and made us feel welcome. The two pizzas arrived about 20 minutes after ordering as a consistent stream of regulars with pick up orders, ordering to go and a few taking the remaining table and seats at the counter. The pizza dough was cooked perfectly, crisp on the bottom and crust with the softness beneath the sauce and cheese. We had ordered a salad and the dressing was wonderful and great for dipping the crust and putting on the pizza itself. If I had to criticize anything it would be the sauce needed a bit more salt but still the second best pizza I have had in the last 35 years. read more

The service and food are the best around. They even have live entertainment sometimes.

The food here is delicious and fresh! I love the gluten-free cauliflower crust because I prefer a crisp crust. The regular crust is also delish for those of you who prefer a thicker option. The Wheeze is one of my favorites, but I also love the pasta and sandwich options. We are blessed to live close to this place, as it has a great atmosphere, great food, and great service! We made a wrong turn heading from Denver to Durango. There was a detour...Oh my gosh! We stopped to walk around this little town and heard live Irish music coming from this establishment and then had the best pizza I had ever had. I've been around so don't think I don't know what I'm talking about. This was house made dough with a crisp chewy crust, ricotta cheese, basil, crumbled sausage, Roma tomatoes...it was a twilight zone experience...I mean, where am I exactly?! If you're looking for great food from a family owned restaurant this is the place for you. We have stopped on many a Friday night and have always had an excellent meal (usually pizza) and while the restaurant is often packed it's never an issue. Glad that they have outdoor seating as they need it to support the customers that are usually there. That said we have always been well taken care of and always feel that our business is very much appreciated. Too often wait staff are short with customers because they are trying to take care of too many customers. That has definitely NEVER been the case for us. Absolutely the perfect amount of attention is what we always receive. We are making this a weekly trek as there is nothing more rewarding than getting a great meal from a family owned business! read more

I have no idea why there aren't more reviews for this place, other than maybe the locals are glad their small town of Hartsel isn't getting inundated with everyone coming here to try it, or they're too busy enjoying the amazing outdoors of CO, to stay inside and get on the dang computer....heck maybe they're sitting in the patio area having another beer, or four. Either way, this has got to be one of my all-time favorite pizza crusts, it's perfect every time. We have property in that area, and will eat our favorites, me/the Wheeze & hubby/the Wise Guy multiple times while in town. You can build your own, I just don't see the need to mess with the perfection of the the Wheeze, and there are of course other options. There's outside seating, plenty of room to stay and have a beer after you enjoy that pie. The new owners have done this right, we're so glad have them close, now if I could only get the Wheeze doordashed to my home in Texas! lol *Located where The HOPP was, new owners, new recipes, and definitely worth going....just don't take the last ingredients for the Wheeze, I just may be heading in that day. ;) Enjoy your pies my friends! read more

We ordered takeout. It was ready when we picked it up and the pizza and pasta were delicious and hot. Everything is obviously fresh and homemade. Even their side salads were deluxe with fresh lettuce and lots of veggies. And you definitely need to try their homemade pie for dessert! We had strawberry rhubarb.
